The White House has released some fabulous pics of the Obamas behind the scenes during Inauguration week. Check it:

The Prez and First Lady getting cutesy in a freight elevator in between balls

Prez Obama adjusting his tie before the balls

Sasha and Malia with dad before he went off to the Inaugural balls
Loves it all. Lots more pics after the cut.
Here’s “backstage” video of Beyonce, John Legend, Mary J., Queen Latifah, and others while they waited to meet the Obamas:
Cute.
More ish when you read the rest…
More pics of the Obamas during the Prez’s first week at work:

Nice.

And so it begins. Members of the Black Artists Association are upset with First Lady Michelle O. for not wearing any African American designers during the Inaugural festivities. Black fashion designers are a bit heated and feel like they were slighted. Here’s what the leader of the BAA had to say:
“It’s fine and good if you want to be all ‘Kumbaya’ and ‘We Are the World’ by representing all different countries. But if you are going to have Isabel Toledo do the inauguration dress, and Jason Wu do the evening gown, why not have Kevan Hall, B Michael, Stephen Burrows or any of the other black designers do something too?”
Asked if perhaps the First Lady isn’t looking at the world colorlessly, Eele said, “It’s one thing to look at the world without color but she had seven slots to wear designer clothes. Why wasn’t she wearing the clothes of a black designer? That was our moment.”

And congrats to Prez O for winning the battle to keep his Blackberry. Secret Service and his staff are allowing him to keep the Blackberry for limited use–e-mailing his personal friends and his staff. And word has it he fought extra hard to keep up his addiction. He said that during the campaign his biggest addiction was checking his BB. Michelle has even had to slap his hand when he checked it during the girls’ soccer games. I feel his pain. Blackberry users unite! Congrats!

FABULOUS PIC’!!!!!!!!!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 10:54 AM
They look so beautiful together. It’s about time black folks had a family like this to look up to.
Sun, January 25, 2009 10:54 AM
top 5
love the video
hi everybody
Sun, January 25, 2009 10:59 AM
Blackberry Users Uniteeee! haha I feel his pain!
and I loveee the First Family! Can never get enough.
SMH..I would unleash my wrath on the BAA for talking out of their neck about our First Lady..but Im sure some else will lol
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:00 AM
I’m gonna need the leaders of the BAA to eat an extra large helping of “chill the eff out”. The Obamas have represented black people everywhere above and beyond. The inaugaration was filled with our heritage, from performers to the balls, but just who they are is more than enough. They represent the NATION now, not just us, so it is fine for them both to wear whoever they want. Stop being petty BAA. SMH
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:02 AM
Im Loving The Obama Family Pics
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:08 AM
Ya know what? Crabs in the barrel never stop clawing….so petty. I’m quite sure Mrs. Obama did not have in mind to pick or not pick a black designer. Folks really need to get them some business and stop making everything a black and white issue. Obama is President and I’m sure there will be some of us he or Michelle will never please…and I’m damn sure they are not losing a wink of sleep over that ish!!!! So save your energy on something else.
Anywho—loved the vid. He is such a down to earth person.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:08 AM
It’s good to see that the Obamas are down to earth and grounded they’re not afraid to show love for each other in public. I respect them it let’s us know that the family is strong in love and that’s important showing so many black families this is how a man and woman should be as one when they stand as one the foundation is strong. Long as President Obama stays humble and put God frist he will guide him in making the right decesion for the Nation just don’t change stay true to yourself the people will support you to the end.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:09 AM
Oh please the BAA needs to sit down. The Obamas have risen to the top b/c everyone identifies with them- different races religions ect. One cannot expect leaders to cater to one race because they are of the same; then if that were the case, the black community would be screaming racism every damn second of the day since most white people have top positions in this country. We should be proud that someone who looks likes us has made it to the top office of this country and should respect their choices.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:11 AM
The BAA needs to STFU. Did they ever stop to think maybe Michelle just didn’t like their dresses as much as she liked the ones she wore? Maybe they just need to step their game up :-/ (Im black by the way and love (almost) all things black before anybody jumps on my ass)
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:14 AM

Sun, January 25, 2009 11:19 AM
STFU BAA ALREADY , SHE DON’T OWE YOU SH>T SERIOUSLY . How the hell they gonna claim it to be their damn moment , it’s so not about them . She wore what she wanted to wear just keep trying . Nothing is given to anyone.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:20 AM
Nice photos, saw the cideo last week.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:20 AM
Maybe she chose the dress according to her taste and NOT according to the ethnicity of the designer. I love my people but they are never satisfied. The Obama’s in the White House does not mean we get a pass or a free ride. I am sure she has no problem wearing a Black designer if she likes what he or she designs. ‘Not enough Black members in his cabinet….Didn’t wear a black designer…blah, blah, blah.’ Where and when does it end?! How about the fact she wore an American no-name designer. She gave somebody a chance, gosh. And besides she’s worn I.Toledo’s stuff before so clearly she likes her stuff!
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:20 AM
I’m loving this pics. Very nice candids.
The BAA is getting beside themselves. If they think that just because they’re Black, that they’re going to be privy to special privileges, etc., they’re sadly mistaken. The First Lady wears what she likes and what is comfortable for her. And if she didn’t like any of the dresses that they presented, then tough luck. Come up with something that she likes. The amount of presumptuousness is disappointing and childish. This was not their moment. It’s not even about the BAA. This was the Obamas’ moment. You can’t make either one of them wear something that they do not like. That’s just not going to happen.
This whole “ride the coattails of celebs to the top” is killing me.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:20 AM
Black people are always complaining!!! damn its soooo annoying who gives a rats ass what color the designers were!!! what does it matter!!! shes the first for 4 years so there will be plenty of opportunitys for her to wear clothing by black designers UNTIL then…. shut the hell up and kwitcherbitchin!!!!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:21 AM
typo video, sorry.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:22 AM
That was great video. Almost makes you feel like you were there. John Legend is funny as hell! Who woulda guessed? And to the BAA—goodness gracious. Why look so deep into it. So, now that you have displaced all of that bitchassness…are you expecting some orders to come your way. Damn. You got 4 years of some Presidential play-wait your turn. GEEZ!!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:26 AM
I am totally in love with the Obamas! They are truly a great respentation of us. People need to get over, just because they are black does not mean that have to show they are black by supporting every single black business in business who makes cloths, do hair, nails or whatever. Leave them along and let them do them and enjoy this moment. Damn, it’s work that needs to be done.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:26 AM
So she should’ve picked one of their dresses because they’re black? Well with that kind of fucked up logic, white people should’ve voted McCain because he’s white then. I swear some people kill me o.O
IT’S ABOUT MERITOCRACY NOT COLOR!!!
Anyway… Michelle’s wearing his jacket in the 1st pic, cuteness ;)
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:28 AM
We’ve will always have our moment because the Obama family represents us everyday. He also represents the rest of the nation. Michelle wore outfits from 2 minority groups…they need to stop being bitter and be more cordial and tactful. Do you think she’s going to support you now after you made that bitter comment? I don’t think so. It’s never good to burn your bridges.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:31 AM
Gosh, you can really tell that Barack loves his wife just by the way he’s admiring her picture in the hallway. And that pic where she’s wearing his blazer? Adorable. Black love at its finest.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:36 AM
I am so sick of all of these groups complaining! You have the latinos, blacks, women, and now black designers all complaining about being underepresented by the Obama family and administration. SMDH!!! I wish people will just cut him some slack and let them focus on the task of helping me keep some money in my pocket.
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:36 AM
That shot of Michelle & Barack in the freight elevator is ADORABLE! Its just so funny to me how often they look like they just fell in love-after 16 years of marriage, that’s so heartwarming to see! Best representation of long-lasting Black Love we’ve got!
“Jayonce”, don’t worry, y’all come in a close #2! ;)
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:39 AM
Love the pictures there beautiful…
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:44 AM
Hey BAA: this wasn’t your moment. It was the OBAMA’s moment, so I’m going to need y’all to fall back. Michelle Obama is a grown woman and she can wear whatever she likes – and it doesn’t have to include an African American designer.
We’ve got an African American President in the White House and we’ve got to do better, so leave that crabs in a barrel mentality back in the 1990’s…
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:48 AM
Oh I saw the pics yesterday, and changed my gravi, so let me claim it before anyone else does!

Sun, January 25, 2009 12:00 PM
I was watching the Biggie bio Notorious on Inaguration day. It was incredible and cool.
Sun, January 25, 2009 12:01 PM
I mean Jesus Michelle hasn’t even been in the White House for a week and people are already bitching over who she chooses to dress her? I’m sure she’ll give many designers a chance who are African American, I hate when people pull the race card.
And how cute is the pic of Barack and Michelle in the elevator and she’s wearing his tux jacket?
Sun, January 25, 2009 12:02 PM
They i read correct? “their moment?” as if the inauguration was a coming out party for black designers. Why not attack celebrities for not wearing black designers at big events like the grammy’s or the oscars. Why they always wearing Gucci, Oscar De La Renta, Or armani? these BAA need to get a reality check. I understand the Obama’s are a marketing scheme for everything but to fault michelle for not wearing a black fashion designer is just ludicrous and uncalled for … black people? What’s really good? Why we always complaining when we don’t get our way, and use others for scapegoat like the white man, or a fellow creed.2009 is already wilding out, regardless of who the president is. If you are arrogant, and you continue to thing you are not arrogant you will forever be arrogant, and condensing and contriving, and you look for reasons. I am sick, when I heard this ” our big moment” like everybody is going to go out and by their dresses.Like the presidency and Inauguration is an everyday saturday event at the 40/40 popping bottles.

Sun, January 25, 2009 12:06 PM
BAA need to fall the heck back. She wore an unknown designer, she wore what she liked…..i like her even more for that. How about the BAA shut up, and make somethign worth wearing…….
And i <3 Barack and Michelle, and the entire first fam. I would luv to have what they have one day.

And Beyonce? Yes, we can. But did YOU vote? I have seen photos of you everywhere in the world except a polling site.

I hate to say that I don’t have any black designers in my closet. I am sure that there are some good designers out there, but most of the clothes that I’ve seen look a little to young for me and are not my style. Like someone else stated “they may need to step up their design game.”
Sun, January 25, 2009 12:33 PM
I CAN’T BELIEVE BLACK PEOPLE ARE COMPLAING WHEN YOU CAN GO DOWN THE LIST OF CELEBRITIES AND REEGULAR OLD FOLK LIKE MYSELF WHO DON’T SUPPORT BLACK DESIGNERS. WHEN BLACK PEOPLE DESIGN CLOTHES WHAT DO WE SAY OH ITS TO GHETTO, HOUSE OF DEREON LOOK CHEAP,BABY PHAT LOOK CHEAP, SEAN JOHN AIN’T CLASSY ENOUGH. LET TOMMY HILLFIGGER OR ANY WHITE DESIGNER STEAL OUR STYLE AND PUT THEIR NAME ON IT AND THEN ITS FINALLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU. WE NEED TO REALIZE THAT THESE WHITE DESIGNER DON’T WANT OUR MONEY LOOK AT LOUIS VUITTON HOW THEY SAY WE ARE NOT THE DEMOGRAPHIC THEY WANT …REMEMBER ALL STUPID A-S-S RAPPERS WAS SCREAMING CRYSTAL CHAMPAGNE AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN’T WANT THEIR PRODUCT CONNECTED WITH BLACK RAPPERS. DON’T BLAME THE OBAMAS FOR NOT PICKING A BLACK DESIGNER WHEN WE ALL KNOW THAT 90% OF THE CLOTHES THAT ARE IN OUR OWN CLOSET ARE DESIGNED BY WHITE PEOPLE….PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULDN’T THROW STONES WE SHOULD CHECK OURSELVES FIRST. HOW MANY BLACK DESIGNERS ACTUALLY WEAR THEIR OWN STYLES? EVERYTIME I SEE THEM THEY ARE WALKING AROUND IN SOME WHITE DESIGNERS CLOTHES.
Sun, January 25, 2009 12:38 PM
I agree, love the video. Shows that they are human too as some of us seem to forget. Loving the love between Mary and her Husband. Obama is so human you have to love him, he said he couldnt wear the single ladies outfit but he could do the hand thing lol. The second picture is so funny, I know all the ladies are waiting on their Obama guy to come along lol.

Sun, January 25, 2009 12:44 PM
The BAA wanted some attention, now they have it…too bad for them it’s all negative attention! The First Lady does not owe them anything, did they ever think that the simple answer was that she didn’t like any of the dresses that the black designers sent to her! OMG…Why is it always “OUR” people that’s never satisfied and always finding something to b*tch about! If she would have worn a Kevin B Hall gown then it would have been “she picked that one because he’s black”. So the Obamas are damned if they do damned if they don’t!
Sun, January 25, 2009 12:44 PM
Oh puleez *roll eye* at all this ish the BAA talkin bout! for fuck’s sake could this ‘Black women hatin on each other when some of them make it to the top jus stop already!’ fuck man this has been goin on for too long i mean i dont see why Mrs Obama; our First Lady cannot wear whatever she want and do whatever she like jus cuz some people is mad! This ain’t bout the BAA and Mrs O ain’t tryna send a wrong message to the world for Heaven’s sake it ain’t jus America watchin, its the WHOLE freakin WORLD! But why does this bulls**t still go on?, honestly i cannot understand. I mean black people are s’pozd to be havin each other’s backs n’ shit especially here in America (one of the alpha birthplaces of racism n’ all that name callin n’shit to black folks) but noooooooooo wat we do is pull each other down into a deep pit and humiliate each other in public. Can we be ONE for once, for Heaven’s sake cuz imo tell you like my momma always tell me: “IN THIS WORLD THERE AIN’T NOTHIN AS SAD AS WATCHIN A BLACK PERSON HATE ON A FELLOW BLACK PERSON. SAME WITH ALL THE OTHER RACES!” People must learn to love one another please, where is the love in this world anymore? Michelle ain’t even been in that White House for a week but people are aleady talkin that ish….ah i could go on but please this has got to stop really its fuckin 2009 anyone can shine, ITS OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE MOTHER F****N NEW!!!!!!!!!!! jeeeez.

I simply adore President Obama and the First Lady. I need the BAA to get a life.
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:04 PM
Tracy Reese is a black designer…I have lots of her clothes in my closet and her styles are fab……not all black designers are rocawear/ baby phat….not to mention those t-shirts and bubble coats with a lame ass logo on them do not fashion make :)
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:05 PM

Oh how big of her, to stop promoting some bullshipt pop music album and work for something that actually impacts the world.
I don’t really mind that Beyonce is a simpleton. I just hate when she tries to pretend to be smart.

Our President is just too smooth! Mr. President and the First Lady are just real! Loved how Mr. President said he knew the Single Ladies routine and did the Single Ladies wave!LOL
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:08 PM
I need the BAA to shut the hell up and sat their asses down immediately. Just because she’s black doesn’t mean she owes us a damn thing! The fact that she exudes class, sophistication, and intellect should be enough for us because she’s making black women look good in the international light again. She chose clothes that accentuated her frame, height, and taste. I saw the isht black folks created for her and they were either a damn mess or too over-the-top. They haven’t been in the WH for a week yet and the crabs are already pinching and clawing trying to bring them back to the botton of the barrell with the rest of their miserable asses. SMGDH!
Anyways! On to better topics…
They are SO in love and too cute as a couple! Black love is beautiful! Makes me wanna reconsider my fiance since he’s not black (but since he treats me like BO does MO I’ll keep his mutt ass around )
The girls seem so proud of their daddy. Malia’s been taking pics since they got to DC.
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:14 PM
The pictures of the Obamas are splendid and aspiring.
The BAA gets two agressive middle fingers. They sound stupid and immature. Do they know they just put thier foot in their mouth. She will be in the WHite house for the next 4 years. They would’ve had plenty opportunities to showcase their talent. If they have talent?????
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:16 PM
IAM SO IN LOVE WITH THE OBAMAS, THEY SEEMS SO DOWN TO EARTH!!!AWWWW!! AND THEIR LOVE SEEMS SOO REAL AND CONCRETE…..LOVE JOHN LEGEND FOR THE VIDEO…AND :SIDEBAR:TASHA WHY DID YOU PUT BEYAWNCE NAME FIRST, IT WAS JOHN LEGEND’S VIDOE? IM STARTING TO REALLY BELIEVE YOU’RE ON SNOOZERS PAYROLL….YOU CAN TELL BEYAWNCE JUST WANT TO BE SEEN, IT WAS LIKE 10DEGREES AND EVERYONE WAS WEARING WARM CLOTHES AND THIS DUMB LOSER HAS ON SOME OVER COAT>>BLANK STARE>> AND OMG!! MARY J AND KENDU SEEMS TO BE SOO IN LOVE….HE LOVES HER SOOO MUCH…..
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:17 PM
 And here we go again! What the hell does Beyonce have to do with this post? Yes, she was in the video, but this post was for OUR PRESIDENT AND HIS FIRST LADY! Who gives a flying f*ck about Beyonce in comparison? She’s just an entertainer…stop expecting more from her than entertainment! And what kills me is it’s the so-called “non fans” who secrectly stan for her who mentioned her first. Get off her bra strap and stick to the importance at hand: the Obamas
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:29 PM
Can’t believe we are still crabs in a barrell. The woman has held her fam down and uplifted her husband only by the grace of God and we still find a way to tear her down? Maybe if the black designers came with more fierceness they the gay dude and the Cuban chick the she would’ve chosen those dresses. Keep talking ish about Michele, she is the first lady and her clout is real high right now. Guilt trips don’t work and the BAA should’ve been more sophisticated with their approach. We gotta do better.

So what you saying is she can’t win for losing. you just gonna find something to complain about when it comes to Beyonce. Funny…..that’s the overall theme of this post. (BAA complaining the First Lady O didn’t pick them but pick some other minority group).
I swear the more things change the more they stay the same.
You don’t sound any smarter than what you claim Beyonce is.
Here are some facts…
1. She can’t be too dumb to reach the level of wealth and success that she has.
2. what she may lack in book sense she makes up in common sense.
3. She continues to preserve despite naysayers (petitions so she couldn’t sing at Inauguration)
4. She made sure she participate in this historical event on some level just like countless others.
5. She is a philanthropist…constantly giving her hard earn money to the community she decides too.
So now go and find something else to complain about….IDIOT
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:33 PM
everyone in the video were so calm. i could feel bey and queen trying to fight back tears too. i was able to watch the inauguration at work and had to do the same, lol. john legend was looking nice too. lmao at vp biden freezing his smile for 30 seconds cuz he thought that the VIDEO camera was a DIGITAL one!!
as for the whole michelle obama not wearing a black designer thing… you can’t please everybody. it is not that serious to complain about something so minor when something so major has just changed our nation. hell, there will be plenty of other dresses and suits that she will need to wear in the future!
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:34 PM
I have no words. Its feels so good to know that one day has became TODAY. May GOD bless AMERICA.
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:36 PM
I love the pics of the Obama’s, I wish him success in presidency, and thanks John for the video. The President was right Mary was pretty in all that white, she was the best dressed that day. What’s up Mary and Kendu.
Thanks John Legend!!!!! BTW, who was the guys John was talking to in the black coats? 1 had a brown scarf on. They were looking good to me. Hey fellas!
Obama/Biden Babyyyyyy!!!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:38 PM
Thank you so much for posting photos of the first family. I can’t help smiling every single time I see them representing the nation, black folks, and me! I’m on the look-out for frame quality photographs of them. I want pictures of them in my house like those old ladies used to keep pictures of Jesus and Lincoln. I want to see their faces in my hallway every time I, or anyone else, walks into my door.
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:39 PM
will the black designers upset with michelle please get a life.
this was her and his moment not yours!
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:44 PM
I agree with the comment made earlier abt Black celebrities rarely wearing Black designers…Michelle Obama will have PLENTY of time to rep 4 Black designers…its really not that big a deal. The day was much bigger than that. Btw, the celebrities were so cute. Its weird how normal they become when against meeting an even bigger figure…lol
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:46 PM
That was such a cute video. All the celebrities even Beyonce seemed down to earth and excited to meet President Obama. Obama and his family really are how they seem on television and Barack really seemed to like Mary J Blige. It was really cute what he said to her.
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:49 PM
BAA get over yourself…ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!! I can’t believe this debauchery had the nerve to roll off their tongue. People are gonna always pick at something…can’t you just be happy! History was made period.
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:55 PM
What a lovely fam!
Sun, January 25, 2009 1:55 PM
BAA, just go sit down in the corner and sip on a tall glass of the “shut the hell up”. Michelle supports up and coming designers. She does not care about the color of their skin or where they are from. She is a fashion forward woman!! I don’t go ask whether the person who made the dress I am buying is african american. Who cares?
With that said,
The Obamas looks ravishing!!! That is the most romantic couple I have seen that don’t fake it. Their love is real and you can see it. What a gentlemen for Mr. President to let his lovely wife wear his coat and play eskimos kisses. Just beautiful!!! (tears)

aawwwwwwwwww i loooove the first family. they are such an inspiration to me. aawwwww barack gave michelle his jacket, such a gentleman.
TELL THE BAA TO FALL BACK AND CONCENTRATE ON INVADING FASHION WEEK!!! MICHELLE IS THE FIRST LADY AND CAN WEAR WHATEVER SHE WANTS. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYTIME A GROUP OF BLACK PEOPLE COMPLAIN IT REFLECTS ON ALL OF US. I LOVE HOW MICHELLE WEARS LESS KNOWN DESIGNERS REGARDLESS OF THEIR SKIN.
Sun, January 25, 2009 2:25 PM
The BAA needs to STFU. I hate when people get in a tizzy about the dumbest fucking things. It’s beyond obnoxious.
Gorgeous pictures of the First Fam. Beautiful family.

i can understand the BAA… Black designers have had a tough time and it would be nice to get some notice finally… Also looking at the ppl Obama has selected in the top post, you have to wonder where are all the blk ppl… We were in line for hours during election day… I love the Obamas but I must say there are some opportunities that have been missed…
Sun, January 25, 2009 2:31 PM
Okay, okay, the parties are over, the celebs. have gone back to Hollywood/New York/Atl. Time to get back to work people! Back! Back I say!
Sun, January 25, 2009 2:34 PM
why is the BAA complaining?
it shouldnt even matter.
and besides, its not like she picked like a Dolce and Gabbana dress, she picked a dress out of the ordinary ( which is stunning) by a young Taiwan-born man who only wanted her to look beauitful & feel special on that day .
*sigh . the BAA needs to get it together!
Sun, January 25, 2009 2:34 PM
Michelle should pick whoever she wants to design for her. It would be wonderful if she picked a black designer, but it didn’t happen. So what. They represent for blacks all day everyday. Not to mention that at the very beginning of his campaign there were not many black on board. I was one of the only black people who even knew who is was in my area and was going to vote for him. Most of the people I saw campaigning for him in the beginning in my area were young white people. I think the Obamas understand that not only black people got him elected. People of all races worked hard to get him elected.

LOL @ the video. I love when Michelle said to John Legend, “We’re here now, next stop is the White House.” What a great and honest moment between two people. I love “behind the scenes” stuff when it doesn’t seem fake. They all seemed so nervous and intimidated by the Obamas.
On a side note, what a snake in the grass Kendu seems to be. He wouldn’t be on that stage if it weren’t for Mary – he is such a moocher.
I would love to see all the pics on Malia’s camera.
Michelle is the bomb, as usual.
Sun, January 25, 2009 2:48 PM
I am as Black power as the next person, but I think the BAA is pushing it a little bit with this latest “complaint” Blacks were pretty well represented, we had HBCU’s in the Inaugural parade (big up to Hampton University!!!! 1868 baby)we had several Blacks who participated in the swearing-in ceremony, we even had Black performers who performed during the many Inagural balls…and they want to complain about this????? Honestly, it is Michelle’s perogative to wear what she thinks is appropriate, and who are we as Blacks to demand she wear a Black designer’s clothing just to prove a point…she is the first Black First Lady of the country don’t you think she is already proving a point….
Sun, January 25, 2009 2:50 PM
black folks make me gag so much lately…ALWAYS complaining and whining about something. first of all, it is so shameful for anyone to think that the obamas should rep all things black just because they are black…grow up! and last time i checked, the obamas are the first family of the united states…not just the black parts
furthermore, negroes are so ungrateful, if she had picked a black designer, trust that there would have been a problem with whoever she chose…they aren’t known enough, the outfit wasn’t blinging enough…always something to fuss about. but more importantly, i am disappointed that black people are ALREADY finding some way to turn on michelle not even one week after the inauguration on something so unimportant as fashion. do these coonish loud mouths know that there are plenty of other racial groups rooting for obama and his family’s demise simply because they are black? and there’s always got to be a group of negroes jumping right in line to throw stones…
the tone from this BBA chick was so nasty and hateful. the “kumbaya” reference was unnecessary and goes to show exactly why negroes get ignored because they EXPECT handouts with nasty attitudes rather than letting their work speak for itself. and when you are not chosen, have the decency and couth to be graceful and move on. learn some basic business practices and maybe someone will entertain whatever it is you’re peddling…otherwise, this mess right here would make me never want to use any of the black designers who are in agreeance with this amnau eele. and correction, its was the OBAMA’S moment, not every negro in america.
fee, fi, fo figga…sometimes, i can’t stand a n____

I heart the Obamas as well
I love seeing all pics of
them together a true love is there
as for the haters I wear what
I like and what looks good no matter who makes it
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:05 PM
Please lets cut the crap. The Obamas don’t owe it every African American. She made a great choice with the designs she chose to wear on inauguration day. They are not the first man and lady of African Americans, they are the first man and lady of the USA. So lets stop asking them to choose sides.
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:06 PM

I love this “LOVE”, I could only pray for a man to love me unconditionally and it be seen on BOTH of our faces….simply beautiful. The BAA nds to lift THIS man and HIS family up in PRAYER and calm down! THIS was NOT their moment or anyone else’s for that matter. It’s all about the President and the First lady, she can wear whoever she wants to as long as she continues to do it with class. There WILL ALWAYS be some unhappy complaint…why don’t they use that energy for the cause HE represents…CHANGE…use that energy in the communities and stop whining! I thought only babies whined…now I can stop asking my baby to whine…his whining is NOT as bad as these people who think NOW they can get away with ignorance JUT because there is an African American man in office…that should ONLY want us to do better.
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:38 PM
what a GREAT family! the Obama’s always seem like they are so in love. i pray for a man who will treat me as good as he treats Michelle. men yall gotta step up your game!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:42 PM
man – can’t get enough of this feeling!!!
Love every pic of the Obamas – Who cares if she wore a black designer…this was not thier moment. its is sooo much bigger than that and its not up to the Obamas to bring every black person to the spotlight…that is the problem with Black People…I swear we can be some of the most coattail riding crabs in a barrel sometimes.
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:43 PM
The BAA needs to get in line and wait their turn like everybody else. Not one of us take note of the ethnicity of the designers of the clothes we like and wear, except with celebrities with close lines. This is not a time for division, especially after our unity has place a black family in the white house. Neither Obama’s nor black america owes them anything. Work and earn your pay and recognition like everyone else. Stop looking for a free ride.
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:48 PM
Oh, so now the Obama’s have to prove their blackness? BAA, go sat down somewhere! So what, they have to get crunk now? Sip on gin and juice? Bump to Lucacris and TIP?
Get the F outta here losers and find something else to complain about!
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:52 PM
Prez is so suave, gotta love those Obamas. And yes, I just got me a new crackberry and it has been an uphill battle not to check it every second.
And BOO @ BAA. I agree with almost everybody else who commented; black folk will forever find a way to kick dirt and throw salt. Perhaps they would feel better if she came out in some kente cloth or a potato sack dress? It would really be our moment then, huh? *smh* SO WHAT if she didnt rock anything by a black designer. I thought her dresses were tasteful, and they served the purpose.
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:53 PM
I heart the Obamas….
Prez. O is so down to earth…love him!
VP Biden is so hilarious…
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:55 PM
BAA really, are you serious???? SMDH, some people just need something, hell anything to complain about instead of looking at the big picture here. They should be so shame for even making that dumb azz comment!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 3:56 PM
I’m gonna need the leaders of the BAA to eat an extra large helping of “chill the eff out”. The Obamas have represented black people everywhere above and beyond. The inaugaration was filled with our heritage, from performers to the balls, but just who they are is more than enough. They represent the NATION now, not just us, so it is fine for them both to wear whoever they want. Stop being petty BAA. SMH
THE END!!! YOU SAID IT ALL!!!

Knox Chick….thats probably because all you look at are the ones that were listed. Those aren’t real designs…check out the real Designers. Kevan Hall and the likes…thats a grown man dressing and designing for GROWN women.
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:05 PM
awww Obama and Michelle just magical I betcha that dress look beautifull in person white pale textured dresses tend to.
Seen the footage on Johns Kyte he has a few of them theres a real funny one with him and Sam Jackson and he has Stevie backstage very cool
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:05 PM
Congrats President Obama and First Lady Michelle!!!!!!!! The pics are beautiful. I saw them last night on aol. I love this family.
They celeb’s backstage were having a great time and they all seem so down to earth and chill. John Legend is such a cutie. Mary J was sharp. I luved her hat and sweater.

I’m sorry but all designers even well known established ones are having a hard time – its called the Bush economy. So as you can imagine fashion is the least of my problems. Sun, January 25, 2009 4:12 PM
“Why wasn’t she wearing the clothes of a black designer? That was our moment.”
How freaking childish. Not a good look for the BAA. Disappointing but not surprised.
I agree with them being crabs in a barrell. Honestly, I said that it would be nice if they chose a black desinger, but I’m not pitching a fit because they didn’t. BFD. If they had choosen a black designer, someone would have complained that they chose them because they were light/mixed. The last thing this country needs, is to see us continuously pulling one another down. (Jesse Jackson). It’s what the nay-sayers look for and hope to see. We have such a long way to go. It’s not like this is the only event where First Lady will need to be dressed. They are only shooting themselves in the foot. Dumb asses.
Anywhoo! I love the way the look at one another with so much love and admiration. Loves it.
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:15 PM
P.S. I can’t help but say GET OVER IT to the BAA.
The President and the First Lady now represent an entire COUNTRY not just African Americans. As much as we would like to keep them all to ourselves, it’s time to share.
I’m grateful that they haven’t “turned their backs” on race but there is a MUCH bigger picture that I’m glad that they see and I hope some of us will see in the coming years.
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:21 PM
Damn, a sista can’t get a break. Just because Michelle is black should not imply that she is strictly going to do business with African American businesses only.
As a consumer, I try to put my money into African American small businesses, but often times I experience highly exuberant fees or prices and horrible customer service. This makes me want to take my money elsewhere.
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:27 PM
I so agree that BAA definitely crossed the line, especially with their ‘this was our moment’.
This is the type of ish that really pissed me off during the whole election process. Most people only focusing on the color of someone’s skin and not realizing that the Obama’s are human beings and everyday day people just like everyone else. And I truly think the photos released by the White House from last Tuesday shows us that. The girls are very proud of their Dad and it shows. Michelle and Barack are completely in love with each other. I just get teary eyed every time I see pictures of this lovely family.
IMO, BAA OWES Michelle an apology. She chose two designs from unknown designers, none of the well known designers (including the Black ones) are complaining about not being able to dress her. This was every ones day and the sooner BAA and all of the other whiners and complainers(trust me they are out there) realize that, the quicker we can get on to WAY more important issues.
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:29 PM
Yea, big ups to Hampton University! Are u an alumni or are u still attending?
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:29 PM
I am saving every picture I see of them, it’s like is this normal? LOL, I can’t get enough of them! They’re the real Cosby’s man.
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:30 PM

Thanks Tamia for explaining their job titles. I heard about most of the people you’ve named, but it’s interesting to know exactly what it is that they will be doing.
Wether it’s his cabinet choices or their clothes, I truly beleive they hire people on the basis of “Talent”. We can’t be too hard on The Obama’s as a family or on him as president unless it’s really necassary. This is a proud moment in American history so lets not get petty about silly things. Again, thanks Tamia.
OBAMA/BIDEN BABYYYYY!!!!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 4:34 PM
Also, as everyone has pretty much already said, Michelle doesn’t not have to do everything in the name of the black race. Including the clothes that she wears. And most of black people weren’t even stuntin’ the Obamas until Barack got the Democratic nomination. Most Black people were supporting Hiliary cuz of Bill and were tearing Barack down. Then as soon as he had a chance to win black people were claiming him even though he is not connected to American black at all. He is part Kenyan. Nuff said.
black folks make me gag so much lately…ALWAYS complaining and whining about something. first of all, it is so shameful for anyone to think that the obamas should rep all things black just because they are black…grow up! and last time i checked, the obamas are the first family of the united states…not just the black parts
furthermore, negroes are so ungrateful, if she had picked a black designer, trust that there would have been a problem with whoever she chose…they aren’t known enough, the outfit wasn’t blinging enough…always something to fuss about. but more importantly, i am disappointed that black people are ALREADY finding some way to turn on michelle not even one week after the inauguration on something so unimportant as fashion. do these coonish loud mouths know that there are plenty of other racial groups rooting for obama and his family’s demise simply because they are black? and there’s always got to be a group of negroes jumping right in line to throw stones…
the tone from this BBA chick was so nasty and hateful. the “kumbaya” reference was unnecessary and goes to show exactly why negroes get ignored because they EXPECT handouts with nasty attitudes rather than letting their work speak for itself. and when you are not chosen, have the decency and couth to be graceful and move on. learn some basic business practices and maybe someone will entertain whatever it is you’re peddling…otherwise, this mess right here would make me never want to use any of the black designers who are in agreeance with this amnau eele. and correction, its was the OBAMA’S moment, not every negro in america.
fee, fi, fo figga…sometimes, i can’t stand a n____
and like i said on another site, she didn’t wear AA designs cuz she didn’t fucking want to…NO bitch, she can wear what she wants wen she wants..since wen is it mandatory for black people to ONLY wear black designers…SIT THE FUCK DOWN..she look GORGEOUS anyway..

First off, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Obamas!!!
Secondly, I agree, the BAA needs to STFU. This event was not about black designers.
Thirdly, this event was not about Beyonce either. The Beyonce haters out there sound extremely pathetic…ya’ll ALWAYS have something negative to say whenever her name pops up on anything. It’s getting old now. Ya’ll need to STFU too.
And lastly, what about the pic of Sasha dancing while Malia was taking pics of Barack??? She is TOO cute for words…I can’t take it!!
Sun, January 25, 2009 6:07 PM
I just love the 1st family. President O reminds me of my dad, when he was alive. Caring and giving..
I love every picture..
I feel sorry for the BAA, it’s sad, this moment in time is not about what the First Lady wore, it was their moment our moment as a nation…I’m wondering if Lady Bush went through this..enoy your week my people..Blessings

1. She can’t be too dumb to reach the level of wealth and success that she has.
2. what she may lack in book sense she makes up in common sense.
3. She continues to preserve despite naysayers (petitions so she couldn’t sing at Inauguration)

5. She is a philanthropist…constantly giving her hard earn money to the community she decides too.

Exactly….and might I add he is only 26 years old. She is giving everyone a chance and opportunity in life….just like her husband said….we need change and that’s what she’s bringing to the table. She will rock old designers as well as new….high price to low price. What the hell more do ppl want outta of her….GEEEEZ!!!! You know how good it has to feel to be 26 and in the biz for just 2 yrs and out of all designers you were chosen!!!! I just love Michelle….there is so much to learn from her and the sad thing is so many pp (esp the ones that need it) are missing her lessons….smdh!!!!

If I’m reading right, some black designer is mad at Michelle for not wearing a dress by a black designer?I mean I kind of see where she’s coming from, but from a standpoint they need to complain how there aren’t too many black designers at Fashion Week, not something worn by the first lady.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. How about this is your chance to step your game up and maybe next time you will be considered.

BB there arent too many black designers at fashion week because many of them are not making anything worth viewing like that. The only black designer out right now that I feel Michelle would ever consider wearing is Tracy Reese….that’s it!!!!

BAA should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such a statement to be released. How dare you claim this as “Your Moment”?? For one, not only blacks voted for him so don’t they dare claim any damn thing as “Ours”…She probably saw a whole bunch of black designs, but she picked this one because it suited to her taste..she probably wanted to match with her husband and this was the dress that did it for her…Gimme a damn break people. First the whole “Proving his blackness”, then the “Don’t talk down about our Black Men” and now this shit? Come on..talk about lack of unity and throwin salt..sheesh.
I love the pics of Barack and his wife..they look truly fab..and thats so cute that he posed for his daughters..she probably put that on her twitter or something, lol..

So true! You know she had tons of designs shown to her & drawn for her, maybe she just simply fell in love with that dress & decided to wear it. Lahd geezus – give the woman a break! She has 4 and most likely 8 more years of dresses & outfits to wear! My Lahd, she’s GONNA represent for us in every aspect, damn, what yall wanted? Her in a kinte cloth! (Did i spell that right Foley?) If she didn’t pick a Black designer now – what they NEED to be doing is step their fab game up so that she will pick & wear your designs next go round!

Good evening YBF Fam **waving**
Just thought I would hop on for my nightly fix. I’m soooo exhausted and running off of 5 hours of sleep. Its been an exciting, long, weekend. Enough about me, on to the post.
Thanks Tasha for the Obama post. You couldn’t have ended the weekend better.
I especially love the pic of Obama admiring him and Michelle’s portraits on the wall. It shows he is just as in awe, initial disbelief, and gratefulness as we are. I wonder if he pinches himself every night. Awww look at the Obamas in the freight elevator. I want Obama love in my life! Malia and her camera are inseparable. Last of all, I totally understand the President’s BB addiction. Glad he won the battle.

I have always loved John Legend but I love him more the way he was goofing around with everyone. I loved how MJB was like “Mr. President this is my husband” so classic, shows how down to earth she is.
I loved our president’s interaction with John Legend and how he was thanking him. And I loved how he called Queen Latifah “Queen”. I just loved it, I adore our first family and our second family, they are amazing people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so love that picture of Sasha and Malia with their dad getting ready for the ball.
P.S. Didn’t you think it was cute the way Michelle and John Legend were interacting, they were acting like they were family. Just loves it, bring on more obama news.
Yes, i loved how Mary introduced Kendu to the President! That shows she isn’t selfish & she thinks about her husband. Kendu woulda probably been in her azz too like “MARY how come you didn’t introduce me to Barack!!!” Mary may have been put on punishment (no dykk for a week, maybe even a month! lol, i know if that was my man he probably would’ve been sticking me in my back with his finger, like “Yo you better introduce me Yo” lol
Kendu don’t play that!!!

See, the thing is is that black people think that just because a black man won the election that all black people won the election. Michelle does not owe black designers a goddamn thing. She has the freedom to choose whatever designer she wants to and she chose the one that she wanted. Didn’t a black man comb her hair and stuff…people need to shut the hell up. There are a lot of pressing issues in this world going…like how we just bombed Pakistan the other day, I’m sure innocent people died. What about that shit?

I agree totally, I know this chick on Flatbush, does some bangin’ sew-in weaves, her price is $60!!! Fabulous but her attitude is soooooooooooo STANK! I would bring in the picture of how i want my hair to look Ms Thang would do it the way SHE felt like doing it! She wouldn’t interact with you, if she felt hungry while doing your hair – my girl would eat her food & have you sitting there like an azz & it’s not like she would go into an eating area or she wouldn’t even say “Can you please wait a little while so i can grab a bite to eat?” i mean ofcourse you can understand & sympthize with that – not even as much as a “Bytch, i gotta eat!”
After 2 times of her playing herself – i said phukk this ish! I’m not giving her counterfeit money! I’m giving her my hard earned cash, respect me & my dinero! Me & my girlfriend was so sick of her antics we started doing our own weaves! and it was looking mighty tight too! I mean this ain’t brain surgery!
Sun, January 25, 2009 11:22 PM

Also, as everyone has pretty much already said, Michelle doesn’t not have to do everything in the name of the black race. Including the clothes that she wears. And most of black people weren’t even stuntin’ the Obamas until Barack got the Democratic nomination. Most Black people were supporting Hiliary cuz of Bill and were tearing Barack down. Then as soon as he had a chance to win black people were claiming him even though he is not connected to American black at all. He is part Kenyan. Nuff said.
People really dont understand the definition of African American. We are ALL descendants of Africans… Americans who are linked to black slaves are no exception. I would see your point if Barack was born and raised in Kenya but as we all know, that isn’t the case. He was born in America like the rest of “American black”.

lmao!!!
u know she didn’t if it ain’t about her
she could careless!!
plus she’s to damn conceited!! jmo
maybe she didn’t vote….perhaps she just left Japan early while promoting her album, to campaign for Obama and to encourage people to stand in long polling lines for the hell of it… maybe, just maybe….
Oh how big of her, to stop promoting some bullshipt pop music album and work for something that actually impacts the world.
I don’t really mind that Beyonce is a simpleton. I just hate when she tries to pretend to be smart.

You ain’t never lied!! Some of the most rudest service I have ever recieved came from a black owned business and the prices are outrageous!
True Dat. I live in a small town and all the black hair salons been closing for years(even before the recession)and I am not surprised at all. Not only their prices are out of nowhere but also their customer service need a lot of improvement. I went to one some day to request 4 information. Nobody paid attention to me instead I was receiving side eyes and finally when I guess the owner finally decided to come greet me she was not smiling at all, couldn’t even answer me the basic questions and just handed me a flier and turned her back. I was really polite and did not receive that in return and when I left I was like hell no I ain’t coming back and I will do my own hair…Not saying they are all like that unfortunately I haven’t met a good one!!!
WTH at the stylist! It’s very common in some black-owned salons
The salon I go to (black-owned) treats their customers like royalty. They give you free water and snacks.Very nice and they don’t have an attitude unlike the other one I use to go to  . People need to take some business classes and a Communications course especially!I call them job backstabbers because they front to get the job, but act like shit when they start working.
I think everyone who are in the customer service type field needs to take a week or two course on how to treat customers regards to just a couple days on “orientation.”

Just foolishness let’s concentrate on the positive they made it and guest what she can wear whatever she wants BAA. Get over it.

lmao!!!
u know she didn’t if it ain’t about her
she could careless!!
plus she’s to damn conceited!! jmo
maybe she didn’t vote….perhaps she just left Japan early while promoting her album, to campaign for Obama and to encourage people to stand in long polling lines for the hell of it… maybe, just maybe….
Oh how big of her, to stop promoting some bullshipt pop music album and work for something that actually impacts the world.
I don’t really mind that Beyonce is a simpleton. I just hate when she tries to pretend to be smart.

Why are people acting all surprised at the crab in barrel mentality?!? Of course it was coming, it was only matter of time. The Obamas are not immune from it, just like any black person that have reached a level of recognition and status, they too will have their naysayers and haters from their own people.
Mon, January 26, 2009 7:35 AM
I love this post so so so so much!! The Obama’s bring a tear to my eye..I really still am pinching myself cause I feel like it’s all a dream!! God bless the Obama’s!!
Morning Ladies!! Happy Monday!! :)
Mon, January 26, 2009 8:05 AM
It’s sad to see the the BAA are going down this road and that they are not revelling in the moment but started before everybody to find fault with everything .Thy have there eyes right up there@@??~~,and are just acting like the poeple who sold there brothers/sisters into slavery because of greed and as MR OBAMA said it’s a new beinging we don’t need this.!!!!. futher more there are other important moment and every creed and race will have the place. So don’t look at the small stuff because it is thing like this that took so long for a black family to entre the White House. So let’s all come together as a black race and show that we can be just like the indian/chinese and whites and help oour brother instead of trying to pull them down because we as a race have help build all these people up but find it hard to build our own race. We’ve taken one step to put him there and we need to follow through. So STOOOP WITH THE CRAB IN THE BARREL SYDROME. Tha is not what the OBAMA’S about.
Mon, January 26, 2009 9:25 AM
Michele Obama owes no one nothing! She’s her own person. She gave unknowns an opportunity because she liked their work.
It’s a petty moment if the BAA feels they missed their coming out party. They arrived when they set out to build their own dreams, not Obama’s election.
We elected a President with a unique vision for government and a beautiful family who just happen to be black and of mixed origin.
The BAA’s attitude typifies what isn’t needed right now-crab mentality. This is the thing that keeps people back. Just look at Africa and other continents suffering from the same thing. Not only are they setting Mrs. Obama for failure, they are doing that to themselves and demonstrating a gross lack of maturity. After all that education to feel or the very last expect to be showcased. My congrats to them for modeling bad taste! God exalts when hearts are in the right place. Last time I checked it still has to do with humbling one’s self etc.
Lastly, if they were chosen, they wouldn’t have been the first. Black dress designer/seamstresses have been used in the past (do the research). All this says is that they are operating on negative from within.
I wish the Obama’s well in their new journey and to the BAA community — get a life or at least, a more fruitful one!
Mon, January 26, 2009 9:32 AM
It was inevitable somebody would have an issue. They are black so it is still our moment!
Mon, January 26, 2009 10:49 AM
oh gimmee a break!!! i think some ppl missed the significance of Obama winning. It makes Dr’ King’s dream come true where man will not be judged by the color of thier skin but on the content of thier character. Hence Michelle just picked the dress she liked the most not by who made itt . We need to stop thinking that Obama is our ticket to the promised land. Does every black celeb wear a black designer ?? Im glad she choose a young, upcoming designer! they are just pissed that it wasnt them and are using color as the scapegoat
Mon, January 26, 2009 11:17 AM
Them salty designers need to give it a rest. There will be plenty of other events for them to dress the First Family. A lot of black people feel some false sense of entitlement now because the First Family is black. That saddens me. Attitudes like this set us years back when we are working so hard to advance!!

Michelle Owes no one anything but her Daughters, her Husband and her star player (herself). Did it ever occur to them that maybe thier game wasn’t what she wanted style wise? She’ll be our first lady for the next 4 to 8 years with plenty of oppurtunity to wear other up and comers. In the mean time they need to step thier game up and stop being crabs in a barrel. There were I’m sure of other persuations she didn’t chose to wear, should they issue a grevince now to?

First Lady Obama, Wear what you want to wear. Shake off the haters.
BAA – maybe she didn’t wear your designs because…theirs were BETTER in her eyes. All these designers are out here because we don’t all think alike.

THE BLACK ARTIST ASSOCIATION SHOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! THEIR CLAIM IS JUST PLAIN PETTY AND STUPID! PEOPLE WILL FIND SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT ANYTHING, WOULD THEY? YOU JUST CAN’T PLEASE ANYBODY!!!
THE FACT THAT JASON WU +ISABEL TOLEDO HAPPEN TO BE MINORITIES, HOW ABOUT THAT?
Tue, January 27, 2009 8:42 AM
I first heard this foolishness on the morning show:
This is so like Us Black people to say this; First of all OUR TIME was having finally a BLACK FAMILY in the white house willing to put his LIFE & FAMILYS on the line to make a better WAY! Who checked OTHER on the voting ballot stating that MRS. Obama must wear a BLACK LABEL? And who gets up and think hey what label am I wearing today? GROW UP she and the rest of the family will be here 8 YEARS STRONG!!!!

Michelle will soon learn that she cannot please everybody…only yourself and your fam…and that’s all that matters!!!!
Eventhough I wasn’t taken away by her choice of garments, she did look fab and I love the way he looks at her. Even when he’s gazing at that pic of her on the wall…true love indeed

I think the 1st lady has the right to pick any designer she wishes to pick. After all, she is 1st lady for all of the United States of American, and not just for African Americans. Why didn’t others complain when the celebraties showing up at awards shows, etc. do not showcase outfits designed by African American designers. I am African American, and that is my opinion on the issue.
