Star Jones was spotted leaving Trump Towers Hotel yesterday in NY:

Getting her glamourpuss on. Do you Ms. Jones.
WENN
And on a side note:

The Republican National Committee has appointed Michael Steele, former Lt. Governor of Maryland, as their first black Chair of the entire organization. Interesting timing don’t ya think? He says he’s “mixed with Indian” though. *blank stare* Both the RNC and Mr. Steele need to stop it. But um, congrats though….

Sat, January 31, 2009 4:33 PM
Steele is not mixed with nothing but nigga and Uncle Tome.
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:42 PM
There is something about Mr Steele I just don’t like. I didn’t care for him during Obama’s run for Presidency I didn’t like how negative he was about his fellow counter part. Indian MY BIG FLAT ASS! You is a ni**a like the rest of us.
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:43 PM
Star is not the best looking chick in the game…but she treats herself well; gotta give her that.
I like the non-fefa coat; but not feeling the blue dress, her gut is protruding through it.
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:49 PM
Nice look Star.. Did u rip the coat off of Al’s gay behind??
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:50 PM
I love to see that type of classy look on black women. Star is really workin it out!
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:50 PM

Sat, January 31, 2009 4:53 PM

Sat, January 31, 2009 4:57 PM
Star doesn’t look half bad this go around….I hope the republicans don t think they’ll gain black support from this appointment, didn t they learn anything from the huge mess that was and still is Sarah Palin?
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:59 PM
Do it Star!!
Looking good for once! and still missing the spanx.
And OOOOOOOH! I can’t STAND Steele!
Sat, January 31, 2009 4:59 PM
lol Annabele’s comment :p
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:02 PM
Why does the RNC continue to think Americans are naive ignorant minions? Clearly they’ve learned nothing from the Palin experiment. It’s as if they think we’ll support any woman or any black man.
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:02 PM
I have always loved Star Jones. She has always been fly, whether she was big or small.
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:03 PM
She lucky PETA aint run up on her..
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:09 PM
Star Jones ok..she looks better than usual. Natasha Michael Steele does not deserve the Blank Stare he is Mixed with Indian it is obvious in his feature..I should know my father is Trinidadian of east Indian descent. Yet I think Indians are people of color(alot of them would never admit it) so I guess The blank stare can mean your still black lol. Republicans are still a mess Black chairman or not. OBAMA!!!
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:16 PM

Sat, January 31, 2009 5:31 PM
I swear, the best thing that could’ve happen for some chicks’ style game is the cold weather. Like Aretha, Star needs to stay covered up. A good look.
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:40 PM
BOF………..BOFFF………..BOFFFFFFFFF
Hi everybody!!
who is the most boring;cici or star jones? New post tasha ASAP
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:42 PM
Steele looks like his mixed with Indian, so o I believe him. A black person is not going to make me a republican though.
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:42 PM
I live in Maryland and there was a reason why we didn’t re-elect Erlich and Michael Steel…we didn’t want them! If the republican party truly believes that “this” will finally bring the “minority” community back to the Good Ol’Boy party, they have another thing coming. They publicize Michael Steel as a great orator…okay, if that’s the case, I certainly was not impressed and as the saying goes you never get a second chance to make a first impression. This man supported The then Governor Ehlrich in a fundraising endeavor at a country club that didn’t permit minorities, particularyly African Americans. His excuse was “I don’t play golf, so I was fine.” That is enough to let me know he is not one I would support. When you are a political figure, one you have a code of ethics, to, you are the voice for the people, and three there has to be standard. He failed all three. I believe in a lot of the republican ideologies, but I don’t believe in the mass majority of individuals representing the ideologies. It up self, it’s about the elite, it’s about money. They are a laughing stalk, and I’ll be laughing at the polls on election day 2012 when I check Barack Obama’s name for president of the United States!
Obama/Biden 2012
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:43 PM
I don’t think he means Native American, I think he meant Indian like the country.
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:43 PM
Whoever is giving advice to the Republican party should be fired. No one is being fooled by this ploy except for Mr. Steele. If he wants to be a pawn, then so be it. Obama will still have my vote in 2012.
Sat, January 31, 2009 5:45 PM
Honestly, denouncing your hertiage, as if African American isn’t good enough. Steele, really, you’d check the same box as me. How bout’ this, my eyes are beautifully slanted, I have Asian in my blood (I probably do, but I haven’t proven it). Not to say that he’s not Indian, but he goes out of his way to say “Yeh, I’m Indian” okay, aren’t we all. LOL!
Sat, January 31, 2009 6:04 PM
Star looks nice, really nice.
That man needs to quit. All blks have something in them and it isn’t neccessary to claim it UNLESS u actually look the part. He looks blk therefore he is BLACK!

Wow all of you need to calm down. A black man was elected to a high position on the Republican side but that gets no love? Steele has a lot of accomplishments but you are tearing him down because he is a Republican? Why kind of voters are you people!? And, you are all naive if you don’t think the DNC didn’t look at Obama and say let’s pick him because he’s black. The RNC and DNC have all the power, the candidates do not. People like Obama, McCain, Bush, Clinton were CHOSEN by their party, not the other way around.

I couldn’t have said it better! He is a TOKEN! The GOP thinks electing Mr. Steele will bring minorities back to the party, but they have burnt too many bridges. Now I am certain this fool is thinking he is going to run in 2012, and be the “magic negro” for the GOP. It’s a shame that a person can be so intelligent, but they can’t tell when they are being used.
Sat, January 31, 2009 6:30 PM
I wish to God that folks would wait up and stop allowing themselves to be used by one political party. Stop calling Black folks dirty names simply because they disagree with what you believe. We don’t all think alike or like bleeping sheep dammit! We cannot afford to put all our eggs into one basket! Get fully involved in the political process by getting involved in both parties to make big changes.
Sat, January 31, 2009 6:36 PM
let’s look at a couple of examples: School Vouchers ( or some other mechanism of school choice): Democrats, corrupted by the Teachers Union want to keep inner-city Black people held captive by a dysfunctional public school monopoly, usually administered by Liberal Democrats. Republicans want these kids to have other choices. Abortion: A disproportionate number of abortions occur among Black people. Would a racist be interested in stopping abortions and seeing more Black babies born? I happen to be pro-choice, but because I believe in personal freedom.
Sat, January 31, 2009 6:37 PM
THE REPUBLICANS SELECTED FREDERICK DOUGLAS AS THEIR REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT OVER A HUNDRED YEARS AGO!!
Sat, January 31, 2009 6:41 PM
I tend to agree that we need to get involved in both parties to have our voices and issues heard. We need to be there when the Republicans are in the White House as well as when the Democrats are in the White House. That way we are represented on both sides, that’s the smart way to do it.
Sat, January 31, 2009 6:42 PM
He is mixed actually. The first time I saw him, I did think he was mixed with Indian or some other Middle Eastern ethnicity. But for sure, he’s DEFINITELY not 100% Black. I can tell u that right off the back.

I’m sorry but no he gets no love. Maybe they looked at Obama and said let’s pick him because he is BLACK but you know if that BLACK MAN didn’t have his shit together they would not have given a second thought. Case in point Jessie Jackson and al Sharpton. Both BLACK MEN but could never run this country and they never considered them for a second. Who cares about Steele and what he has accomplished. Haven’t you listened to him speak on all of the news channels he tears us down all the time as well as Obama.
Sat, January 31, 2009 7:01 PM
40-odd years of hanging out with the Democrats and their hackeyed policies have helped to ruin the Black community. Listening to those pimping, hustlin’ preachers interested in filling their own pockets, (jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton). Under the Dems we got record crime-record number of fatherless kids, record number of murders, record number of kids dropping out of school, record number of young Black men going to prison. There was a time that the Black family was a strong partnership with parents raising their kids right and pushing them into higher education. but the welfare policies of the democrats destroyed all that because they want Black folks to remain poor, ignorant and sucking on the Democratic tittie. Obama would have been an asset to any party even if he was an Independent.

Star looks much better now that she’s putting on weight. The bobble head is gone. As for the comment on her being lucky PETA doesn’t get to her, PETA knows who to mess with. Star is not the one. As for the Republicant’s chosing themselves a token to upset another Obama landslide, they need to think again. This move is so obvious its not even funny. Obama 2012!

Mr. Steele is an opportunist, and he does not care how common people (of any race) are treated. I think as an African American your supposed to stand up for injustice, he sits in a corner and keeps his mouth shut.

Steele ain’t mixed with a damn thang but negroid blood. Boy, bye! Congrats to him if he’s happy being the republican parties trophy nigga because that’s all they see him as. When will some of these black folks learn?
Sat, January 31, 2009 7:36 PM
THere is nothing wrong with Steele he does look like an Indian . However there timing is awfully suspicious and you dont have to use anther black man to counteract Obama and appeal to blacks .
Sat, January 31, 2009 7:37 PM
At this point I sort of feel sorry for the Republican party. They have no real identity (other then being obstructionists) and no direction or real leaders. They sort of just go with the flow. I think it is a great thing that they are trying to diversify (considering that Steel was in the race for the position against a guy that gave out c.ds with the song “Barack the magic negro” and another guy that up untill September belonged to a “whites only” club)..but the thing I dont like is how the Republicans go about doing things. They have turned into a party that has ran out of ideas..they are opportunistic..they brought Palin on thinking she would get the “Hillary votes” and it blew up in their face because they found out you cant substitute one vagina for another. When it comes to Hillary, Palin is sooo out of her league its not even funny. Do any of you honastly think Steele would be as welcomed had Obama not won? Seriously? Steele has been around for a minute, so why have they decided o vote for him now?
-
-
The sad part is that the Republicans are so silly, that they dont realize that a lot of people voted for Obama for many different reasons, not just because he’s black…people beleived in the person. I dont think the Republicans ever thought in a million years that Obama would become this powerful. And the fear of their party becoming irrelevent is starting to sink in…this move proves that. Obama walked into office with the highest approval rating of any President..he just held an inauguration before 2 million people who stood out in the freezing cold to see HIM…who are the Republicans going to get that could even compete with Obama at this point? Seriously? Obama has mobilized so many voters and inspired so many young people…regardless of what this next four years brings I still see him getting re-elected with ease. And should Obamas administration manage to even turn this country back in some sort of decent direction..Obama could keep the Republicans out of Power for some time, im talking decades..the Republicans know this, which is why everytime you turn on the t.v set, you see one of them in front of the camera complaining instead of working on trying to fix the country (and the mess they made) like Obama and his administration have been doing since day one. Obama hasn’t even been in office for two weeks…and the Republicans are already causing trouble…even with the President trying to welcome them and lend his hand. Considering the fact that none of the republicans want to take any accountibility for what had went on these past few years, they deserve what they are getting and I hope they continue to make fools of themselves. Also, Steele has been too much of a coon on Fox News to get anybody with commen sence to vote for him anyways. Too bad he is now a puppet.

I guess Steele re-searched/found his birth family to find out he is Indian because everyone in MD knows he is adopted – and Mike Tyson’s ex brother in law. Yeah Monica is Steele’s sister who also used to date Rayful Edmond the biggest drug dealer to ever hit DC.
Also I love it when Republicans claim Lincoln and Frederick Douglass without ever mentioning the Repubs had the democratic platform back then.
Sat, January 31, 2009 8:31 PM
Micheal Steele chairman of the RNC its like a blackman becoming the head of the KKK. Micheal Steele is not going to fool anyone the republican is still a redneck party
Sat, January 31, 2009 8:32 PM
Steele..stfu. Don’t break down your ethnicity..just..don’t do it anymore…its not a good look cuz at the end of the day, you’re black..just like everyone else. smh.
Star: No matter what you wear..it always ends up looking a tad bit wrong..I like the dress..but not on you..I’m not a fan of fur..so I would have to say no to the jacket as well..Idk what it is about her, lol

THANK YOU! If everybody knew their history, they’d know that the old Republican party was called “The Liberal Republican Party”. Everybody knows the liberals of today are the democrats. The old school Repubs were the same thing as the new school Dems and vice versa. I’m glad I’m not the only one who knows this. Republicans are so full of it, they start to believe their own BS.

Yeah cause we all know how republicans championed for black and women issues *serious side eye*
You do realize that just a few days ago President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Act. You know the bill against pay discrimination for women, which the republicans voted against when they were in power.
Sat, January 31, 2009 10:15 PM
That supposed “hate” towards Steele is not based on the fact that he is a Republican (at least not from me) its based on the fact of him being a token pick. Ive watched him on fox news, there has been times where he has displayed just as much ignorance as the rest of them. I dont like how this version of the republican party tries to play people for fools…nor do I like the coonery and out right BIGOTRY that was displayed throughout the election by the republican party. Its like “oh, they love this black guy, so lets have a black guy of our own to counteract” (as if Steele has a chance in hell against Obama)…As previously stated, the timing of his pick is real suspect and half of the people in the room during Steeles speech didn’t even look happy about his selection. If you are going to pick a person, pick them because you beleive they are most qualified or feel as if they will help bring your party out of the wilderness…dont pick them just because you feel your party is slipping away to irrelevency and think he will help you get some of the minority vote or use him as the “token nigro” to attack Obama. Not everyone voted for Obama just because he was black..some actually liked his ideals and positive image he brought to the country, at the end of the day they voted for the MAN..him being black was just an added bonus. President Obama is not just any black man, regardless of what people think of his policies, no one can deny that that man is a leader, period.

The Republicans need to take a hard look at their party and what direction they want to go in…both Reagan and Lincoln are rolling over in their graves at this version of the Republican party. They have a few choices..they either go Sarah Palins way (which would put the nail in the coffin for their party) or they take their time, quit whining and bickering and actually pick decent leaders that can represent them…I wish Colin Powell would take charge, but he is so embarrassedand disgusted at this version of the repulican party he cant see strait. I want people who are questioning everyones opinions against Steele to ask yourself this: If Obama wasn’t as successful as he was and if the Republicans honestly had any answer to him…do you think Steele would have been chosen? I have to say it is real impressive to see a man (Obama) pump so much fear into one party. Steele had the nerve to say in his speech that he will enjoy “sparing with Obama”..as if Obama has time for their continued nonsense..incase they haven’t noticed, Obama is a little busy right now ruling the free world. Maybe Steele should focus his energy on trying to improve his party and instead of trying to “spare” roll up his sleaves along side Obama and help fix some of the issues with his country that his party is largely responsible for screwing up. I swear I dont know how the President puts up with these people and their continued ignorance, SMH.

Quite easily. I do not believe in abortions, legalized gay marriage, the immigration policy of “once you are over the border bring your whole family here and we’ll take care of them!”, subsidized housing where there are more BMW’s and Benzes than where the million dollar home are, generational welfare, and my hard earned tax dollars going to any of the above.
Lol, and who was doing all the lynching during Jim Crowe days? Was it the *cough* republican party, or the still true-to-form lily white negro loving Democrats? What party was Frederick Douglas? What states were the bastions of slavery? What party?
Become educated people. Do you know who started Planned Parenthood and why it was placed in the ghettos of New York? Look up Margaret Sanger and the forced abortions in China. Do your research and you might become Republican too! lol
Okay, lol, obviously I need to take my tired self to bed.
I agree whole heartedly. Like my grandpa used to say, all the Democrats do is make us lazy.
And one last thing: re the parties of old, do you think EITHER one really referred to black people or anyone of color? Who do you think was running around when the Constitution was written? It was certainly not with you and me in mind. The best thing either party can do is leave me and my money the hell alone. Good luck with that and the Democratic/Socialist party in charge.

Michael Steele, may be mixed with something look at his sister Monica Tyson, Mike Tyson’s ex wife.
With that said I do believe that the only reason RNC has chosen Mr. Steele, is to simply to gain the minority vote. Our vote is worth so much more. It is time for our voice to be heard we can do it if we stay involved.
However, we should not tear him down because the RNC will do it for us.

The Republicans need to take a hard look at their party and what direction they want to go in…both Reagan and Lincoln are rolling over in their graves at this version of the Republican party. 1. The guy who just canceled his membership to an all white country club.
2. The guy who distributed the cd with the songs “Barack the magic negro”, and “The star spanglish banner”.
3. Michael Steele
4. And two other men who dropped out.
They really chose Steele because they didn’t have ANY OTHER CHOICE! Point blank.
Don’t be fooled.

This is the SAME stuff the Republican’s tried in Chicago to defeat Pres. Obama when he ran for the Senate. They sent another “token”….Alan Keys to Chicago to get in the race and racist white folks did not support him. Obama won that race and became a Senator. I don’t expect Michael Steele will get much support from that faction of the Republican party either. Leaving him INEFFECTIVE.

While I don’t subscribe to his politics and sometimes wince at his comments, I believe Steele’s accomplishment should be lauded. The man won (was not appointed as suggested by the post) after five/six rounds of blind voting. He has worked, assiduously for this post. He didn’t just come out of the woodwork as a “token.” And btw, there was another black man seeking the post who IMO more closely tracked with the current Republican ideology — he dropped out – wasn’t getting the votes. We don’t know what his platform is, so there is still plenty of time to lose our minds. This is a major accomplishment for black Republicans and another historical achievement for blacks. 2009 is definitely our year!! I think it should also be noted that while the Dems talk a good game, it’s from the Rep team that blacks held some of the most powerful positions in government. While you may not like their politics, it does not negate the historical significance of the win.
With respect to his reference to his lineage, we don’t know if it’s even a true statement and if he did say it, the context in which the statement was made. The post simply gave a blanket statement — nothing more. He could have been responding to a question for all we know, but because he is a Republican, the negativity ensued. Come on people!! We are better than that! Yeah, I know it’s a blog but I think we should read everything with a critical eye. We are the keepers of our history — the good and the bad –and we have a responsibility to ensure that it’s recorded and interpreted accurately.
We are all enamored by Obama, but it seems very few are taking something away from his win and how the POTUS is conducting business in the White House. Hint: bipartisanship. You can’t tango by yourself – a majority notwithstanding. He doesn’t seem to completely discount Republicans just because they subscribe to a different ideology — and neither should we.

I don’t know if many of you are old enough to remember the 80’s and WILLIE HORTON. Bush senior won the Presidency by making white people feel like a BIG BLACK MAN was coming to get them. I will never forget those commercials with the picture of Willie Horton, and how they played black and white people. MOST Republicans during that era ran “war on crime” campaigns. Which really meant “war on black men”.
I don’t think I could EVER vote for a Republican. I understand the Democrats are the lessor of the two evils. But until something/someone better comes along….I will vote Democratic!

Yes, I recall that campaign and my response is so what? Look at the race biting ish the Clinton’s put forth in the campaign. Had it not been for Pres. Obama’s campaign we wouldn’t know what “America’s First Black President” and wifey really thought of us. How they would sacrifice us for the other. If you go back in history, it is historically the Dems who did black folks the most harm. You mentioned that you wouldn’t vote for a Republican. That’s cool – that’s your choice. But you know why you can make that choice? Why you have a vote? Because it was the Republicans who abolished poll taxes and the like and introduced a plethora of legislation to dismantle these blockades to blacks voting. Democrats, especially Southern Democrats were all too happy to keep us from the voting booth. Like your civil rights? Well you likely would not have had them (or certainly not in the form they came in 1964 Civil Rights Act) had it not been for the Republicans. Remember, they were in the minority at that time yet voted at a higher percentage than the Democrats. In sum, without the Republicans, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would not have passed.
My point is that both parties have had African Americans bent over at various times in history. The way many African Americans feel about the Republican party today is the same way many of our grandparents and great-grandparents (especially Southerners) felt about the Democratic party back in the day. We don’t know what the ascension of Michael Steele means for the Republican party or African Americans in general. But what I do know is that political history is rife with change. Twenty/thirty years from now African Americans may be voting for Republicans in mass. And yes, it is possible because we were doing just that prior to the 1964 Act. That isn’t that long ago. As a people, we need to become aware of the issues and policies of both parties and then make the best choice for our families and communities. We’ve allowed our vote to taken for granted too long.

@ BellaY
Maybe you have the “in” into the inner workings of the RNC, I don’t so I don’t know what the ascension of Michael Steele truly means to the Republican party or what their strategy is. What I do know is that he has worked his tail off in the Republican party – he has paid his dues and since the Republicans have a history of putting blacks in high profile positions, his win (not appointment) does not surprise me [and he wasn't the only black running]. I have not read or heard – except from folks who supposedly read tea leaves — that they are reaching out to black people. I heard his acceptance speech on YouTube and he didn’t mention anything about reaching out to blacks – he talked about taking back the NE. You know, those folks who were all for Obama BEFORE African Americans started getting the vapors after he won Iowa.
I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves – neither party NEEDS us. Political strategist look decades out when planning strategy. We’re no longer the favored minority and we don’t vote in sufficient numbers i.e., we’re not a reliable vote. Yes, we came out in force for Obama, but look what happened in Georgia. There was a runoff after the election for the senate seat, blacks could have single-handedly helped Obama get the majority in the senate, if they would have come out for the runoff. They didn’t in that race or any of the other runoff races. The “Obama effect” only affected the Pres election. Not saying that the Republicans (IDK) are not interested in siphoning off a few blacks, but I seriously doubt Michael Steele is the means by which they plan to do it. Besides, you don’t need a black man as the head of the party to draw blacks. The DNC certainly has never saw the need for one and they’re doing just fine.

You’re referring to the one time Liberal Republican Party, which gradually disappeared once its members left to join the Democratic Party. The rest joined the Radical Republicans.
Oh and Abraham Lincoln was a Liberal Republican…The man issued the Emancipation Proclamation orders, if that isn’t liberal enough for ya than I don’t know what is.
Sun, February 1, 2009 4:13 PM
@ xyz
actually what I was doing was attempting to pointout the fallacy of looking to a particular campaign as proof of one party being better for blacks or conversely doing more harm to blacks. They both have done good and bad at different points in history. And while the “Liberal Republican” party may have disappeared over time, I don’t pretend to know what the future holds. I thought it was interesting that the RNC voted in the most moderate of all of the candidates. Ken Blackwell certainly would have played more to their base and he’s black. The more liberal elements of the Republican party may be attempting to make a comeback, I don’t know. But I find the dynamics and what it may mean for the future to be exciting historically and interesting. Heck, 20 years from now the conservative wing of Democratic party may have taken over.
As far as Lincoln is concerned, I think anyone who is a student of history knows that the Emancipation Proclamation was the linchpin in the battle between Federalism and States Rights. The Emancipation Proclamation ensured that Federalism trumped States Rights. He did not sign the Emancipation Proclamation because he thought slavery was wrong and inhumane. He did so, to ensure the creation of “the United States” vs. “a United States.” In other words, liberalism had nothing to do with that decision.

Naw I’ll stick to being a Democrat since I support policies that benefit working class families and not large corporations. I also strongly support the idea that everyone should be entitled to universal health care. I believe higher taxes should be designated to corporations and the wealthy. Lastly, the government has no right to tell anyone what to do with their bodies…yep that’s right I’m socially liberal too.

actually what I was doing was attempting to pointout the fallacy of looking to a particular campaign as proof of one party being better for blacks or conversely doing more harm to blacks.
Alrighty then Sepia, well it’s great to have an intelligent discussion. It will definitely be interesting to see where the Republican Party goes from here. Anyways, time for me to get ig’nant for this Superbowl party lol. Bye

somewhere in the Willie Lynch doctrine, there were instructions for slave owners to use Blacks to oppress other Blacks. This of course, is where the whole House Negro reference originated. This modern day Sambo knows that he was only selected on the basis of Obama being in office, yet he still accepted the position. Damn, what blacks will do to attempt to sell out their own kind.
Keep shucking and jiving for your slave Masters, Michael Steele.

No, I don’t have the “in” into the inner working of the Republican party. But what I DO KNOW is…. it is THE REPUBLICAN IDEOLOGY THAT IS THE REASON OUR ECONOMY AND THE REST OF THE WORLD IS SUFFERING. Tax breaks for the wealthy and screw the poor!! They deregulated the banking industry and caused the current housing crisis. They WANTED to PRIVATIZE SOCIAL SECURITY but thank God that didn’t happen. Could you imagine what would be happening now if banks, insurance companies and investment firms had gotten their hands on social security? It would have been wiped out and retiree’s would be suffering with NOTHING while the fat cats in the insurance, banking and financial service industries wouldn’t feel a thing. Just a few months ago, the Republicans GAVE the banking industry all that money…BILLIONS without asking for ANY accountability. We didn’t know where the money went for a while. Now we are finding some of it went to BONUSES for the same people who are responsible for the current crisis!! How crazy is that?It just came out last week that the now FORMER President of Merrill Lynch spent MILLIONS of the tax dollars he was given and DECORATED HIS OFFICE. I have been watching international news and the whole WORLD is mad at the United States because of the last eight years and the war, and recklessness of the Republican party. Me, vote Republican?? Please!

I don’t understand your response – seems off topic from what I wrote. My response addressed the historical significance of Steele’s candidacy and ultimate win and your assertion that the Republicans NEED us – IMO, none of the parties need us black folk. We’re no longer the favored minority.
If you choose not to ever vote Republican so be it – no one encouraged you to do that. What you and everyone who reads this is encouraged to do is vote policy and issues, not party. I’m an independent – I’m beholden to no one. If you choose to vote one party no matter the issue, so be it. But to be clear all blame cannot be placed on the Republicans for this bailout fiasco — Reid and Pelosi are weak and went along to get along. Both parties sold this mess to the public. I don’t recall any of Dem leadership clamoring for oversight. Let’s be honest, both parties were reckless in putting the stimulus package together. I hope that Obama’s stimulus does in fact get us back on track but the new Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner, has a subpar record and didn’t do jack to stop this financial tsunami when he was the head of the New York Fed. No matter the Republicans or Democrats, there is always a fox in the hen house.

To tell the honest truth, Clara… I personally would never be with a Jamaican man…. Most of them who come here from Jamaica are looking for someone to use and take advantage if not infect them with HIV/AIDS. My girlfriend was with someone who is Jamaican, and he messed her over BAD. He messed up her credit by getting her involved in a scam (She didn’t know it was a scam til it was too late). He always acted like he was mad at the world. I REPEAT, I am not saying ALL Jamaican men are like this, but A LOT of them are.
I am not even going to lie—I won’t mess with a west indian man to save my life and I am west indian! I have had to deal with (on top of everyday relationship problems) being drug in the middle of scams and also physical abuse. The last straw was when my last boyfriend was behind my back getting stolen items sent to my house. The police came to my door and he was sitting right on the couch and denied everything even though they said they would put ME in jail!
I also think I had one boyfriend who tried to use witchcraft on me because of some strange stuff I found out about.
I ONLY deal with African American men now and things have been going MUCH better
>>It’s true… I know a lot of jamaican men (Not all, but most of them) are AIDS infested… I remember before I got saved for real, I was messing with this Jamaican guy who moved here to NY from Jamaica just about a year or two before, and once, when we were intimate… he rolled over and told me, “I have AIDS”….. Then I just looked at him with TOTAL shock on my face…. and he waited about close to what seemed like forever and told me he was just joking…. But I don’t think he was…. I have been tested several times before AND after then, and the tests come up negative. >>
I had one boyfriend who I found out was doing God Knows what back in Jamaica. I told him I wanted to use condoms and he had the nerve to slap the crap out of me. He slapped me so hard that blood came out of my nose. The only way he left my house is because I grabbed the phone and pressed 911. He jumped up and left.
I’ve also have had my feel of being involved in scams by the men I was dealing with. I myself never do anything to break the law, but the men I was involved with was deep in the crap and when the police came into the picture I was left out to dry and I was innocent.
I have been dealing with African American Christian men and I have had MUCH better luck in my life.
I think it has a lot to do with the poverty and lifestyle. Almost everyone wants what the people in America has in terms of wealth. They might not want to say it but they do. To be honest it’s not just the men who are not worth much either. I have female family and old friends that I do not even talk to because they are always on a scam or worse. Some of the women can be just as underhanded because of the men. But back to the men, I think what women in the US don’t understand is the west indian man’s mindset. Many (not all) are terrible liars and cheaters. The violence is another thing too. I always tell the few American friends I have made here to NOT get involved with a man fresh from the Islands. You are playing with fire.
One of my co-workers was dating a man from my homeland–Jamaica—and she told me she thought he was cheating. I told her to just pay attention and if she catches him in lies, then he probably is cheating. so the next week after she told me this, she comes to work with stitches in her forehead. She privately told me that she followed him and caught him going to another woman’s house and when she approached him as he walked to the doorway, he punched he to the ground. Sorry to say but he was illegal so calling the police would do no good.
I hate to say it, but I distance myself from a lot of people from where I came from. They seem to always have stealing and wickedness in their minds.

ITA,well said. I question people who need to say “I’m mixed with…..” So what? Are you saying you are not black, or “less black” than other blacks so therefore better? Love of self begins at home, tell your black kids that “black is beautiful” and maybe, just maybe we will no longer have to “go here”. Black Power!!:)
I have a question. If your mother is white and your father is black are you less white? I never understood why some people feel that mixed children should deny the other race/ races and act like it doesn’t exist. That isn’t fair to the child nor to the non-black parent. I am not going to deny my child the right of her knowing her ancestry just to make anyone feel else better.
There is a lot of history in both my side of the family and her father’s and we are all proud to be Americans.
Congratulations to the Steelers.

I love her coat and I love fur real or fake. If you protest wearing fur, then protest people eating meat.
Good luck with that!
I can’t stand PETA. You can not force people to feel the same way you do and you can not destroy their property. People kill me with all this save the animals shit and do nothing for the people in the streets that are starving. I see commercials for animal shelter all the time, but nothing for homeless shelters.
Just saying…

Well, my fiance is German (his mother) and Spanish/Native American (his father) and I’m black. I’m going to make sure our kids know ALL of their heritage (and I’m considering getting a test done to figure out all their background because my fiance’s father never knew for certain who his dad was although they think he was a Hindu Indian), but they’re eventually going to have to identify with one race or the other. That’s how society is. They’re not asking mixed/multi-racial people to denounce one heritage for the other perse. However, let’s not act like growing up they don’t identify with one race more than the other. My fiance’s sister has nephews who are half white/half black and one says he’s black and only dates black girls, while the other says he’s white and only dates white girls. It all depends on how and where they grow up.

Do the Republicans actually think that just because they selected Mr. Steele for the RNC that black folks will fall over themselves to join the party? Uh NOT! The GOP stands for Grand Old Party which is why the country is in the mess that’s it’s in today. Grand Old Party = Grand Old Ideas. The Republicans still don’t get it. This is the 21st Century and until they realize that and get on board, their party is doomed. By the way, his being black and part indian (side eye) makes no difference. If that were the case, both Jesse Jackson and Al Sharptoon would have won their elections. Barack Obama is the whole package, lock, stock and barrell. Not because he’s black, but because he is who he is. Putting a black face on a white party won’t change anything. It’s the ideology that matters, and the Republicans suck! Big Time!
Mon, February 2, 2009 10:11 AM
Michael Steele was horrible when he was here in Maryland and I cant see him getting any better. If the Republicans think this will allow them to take the White House back in 4yrs, the are crazy. Most blacks dont like Michael Steele. What a a bunch of idiots.
Mon, February 2, 2009 10:49 AM
WOW! My first time posting a comment on this site!!!
I do think Mr. Steele is mixed with Indian, he does have that look. However, I think the RNC is making a mistake. I’m sure there’s better Black Republicans that they could have chosen over Steele.
And on another note, Seth Meyer made a good point on SNL this weekend, he said to the RNC it doesn’t work with just ANY black guy. SO true….
Mon, February 2, 2009 10:54 AM
Steele is mixed. I about fell out when the RNC picked him. I guess they can’t opening criticize Obama without looking like a bunch of racists. I believe a third political party will gain momentum now.

THOSE WHO THINK MICHEAL STEELE IS GOING TO RUN AGAINST PRESIDENT OBAMA. PEOPLE NEED TO READ, RESEARCH AND GET INVOLVED. He is the head of RNC, this means his job is help the Republican win political offices at all levels president down to mayors. Like Howard Dean did with the DNC. HE IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT or even trying.
Please inform yourselves the internet is a powerful tools that could be used to get our policy on the table.

Steele is not black he is 100% not down for anything but personal gain and the belittlement of blacks listen to him speak
