Word just hit the net that the men’s magazine KING just folded. Their rep says the company and magazine is ov-ah due to this bad ass economy. The last issue will hit stands April 21st with Joe Buddens’ video chick girlfriend Tahiry on the cover:
“I can only imagine how busy Twitter is right now over this,” quips an unidentified staffer. “I thought we had at least one more issue in us, but in general, I saw it. It definitely sucks, but what can we do, you know?”
The real problem here is: Where are the reality tv and video chicks going to get their checks from now? Anyways, shout out to Jermaine and the crew over at KING.
Taye Diggs is expecting his first child with wife Idina Menzel. The baby is due “later this year”. The couple has been together for 13 years. Congrats!

So Keri Hilson and Lil Wayne performed their single “Turnin’ Me On” live recently. Rumors have been circulating that Keri and Weezy have been getting extra flirtatious these days….more than just a “work publicity” thing. And during their set Keri the other night, Keri let everybody know “there’s nothing lil about Wayne” and told the crowd he definitely turns her on. I mean, I understand that’s part of the song and everything but damn. Wayne also rubbed up on Keri’s ass-ets when she left the stage. Come get ya man Nivea.

So Evan Ross hit up Queen Latifah’s birthday party that was hosted by the Queen Covergirl Collection over the weekend. And our sources working the event tell us that Evan refused to take pics solo on the red carpet when asked to. He continuously insisted that he only be photographed with his “lady friend” in the above picture. Guess he was trying to get his money’s worth that night. Let me stop….

Jill Scott, star of the hit HBO series, the “No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency”, was named one of TV’s Breakout Stars in the new People Magazine.

And Erykah Badu is tapping into her artsy side for her charity:
Famed artist Steven Lopez recently went to Erykah’s home in Dallas to complete the signing of 100 limited edition prints he did. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Badu’s non-profit, Beautiful Love Incorporated Non-Profit Development (B.L.I.N.D.), a charity organization she established to provide community-based programs for inner-city youth. Steven also painted Minnie Riperton, Aretha Franklin, India.Arie, and others.

Seems like everybody had a court date today. Superbowl champ Plaxico Burress and his chick Tiffany made another appearance in the Manhattan court today. After he accidentally shot himself in the leg a few months ago while stashing a gun in his pants at a club, he was been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. That felony carries a minimum prison sentence of three and 1-2 years in prison and a maximum of 15 years. But today he was granted a continuance of bail after his case was postponed until June 15th. Apparently his lawyers are trying to make a plea deal that still may involve him going to jail. And the Giants are still contemplating letting him back on the team. Womp.
And only a few minutes after Plax showed up to the Manhattan courthouse, Ja Rule rolled in too. He was there this morning still trying to fight some weapons charges from ‘07 when he was pulled over for expired tags and cops found a .40-caliber pistol. Good luck with that Ja.
And Queen Latifah is getting sued in a double whammy. Both a celeb stylist and celeb makeup person are saying Queen owes them a millie. According to Huff Post:
Celebrity cosmetology consultant Roxanna Floyd says she lost $700,000 when the rapper-actress failed to pay her for work she did between July 2005 and February 2008. In a separate lawsuit, celebrity fashion stylist Susan Moses said she was cheated of $300,000 during the same period.
I guess they feel like they’re being treated like peasants…

Here we go again. At Oprah’s elite boarding school for girls in South Africa–The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy–another sex scandal has hit the classrooms. Seven students have been suspended for sexually harassing their schoolmates. While Oprah’s people confirm there was a suspension, they did not confirm or deny the details. In a letter sent to parents of the suspended girls, here’s what was said:
“You have been found guilty of physical contact of a sexual nature with another pupil on campus, harassment, bullying other girls on campus and of being dishonest by not telling investigators the whole truth.”
Sources report that certain girls were forcing their schoolmates to partake in “lesbian actions” and bullying and threatening them out of not telling. After the previous sex abuse scandal involving the school’s head mistress and 15 of the school girls, Oprah gave all of the girls cell phones to call her if anything like that happened again. No word on if they were actually used this time.
