Beyonce Is Obsessed With #1
Say what you want about Beyonce, but homegirl knows how to sell a damn ticket. The official numbers are in and Obsessed came in at #1 at the weekend box office. Which means it beat out Zac Efron in 17 Again, Terrence Howard in Fighting, and Jamie Foxx in The Soloist which came in last. Not to mention Obsessed brought in $28.6 mill already. Mixed reviews are all over the place. Some say it was just a mediocre knock off Hand That Rocks the Cradle/Fatal Attraction that belonged on BET Blackbuster night or Lifetime. Others say it was a great movie that was entertaining. Some say Beyonce’s acting made it hard to be entertained by the movie, while others say she did a fab job kicking ass in heels.
Either way, everybody and their dog went to go see that ish and it shows. Whether or not she’ll stay #1 next weekend is a different story. By the way, Idris Elba–who was sometimes shirtless and always drop dead sexy in this movie–could get it 8 days a week. And that’s just real talk.

okay so i didnt waste my money and went to see it for free lol. To me the movie was good but the commercials gave everything away so it was too predictable. Her acting was better but one scene when we shoulda saw sincerity in her voice…it sounded gangsta lol. Not knocking Bey cause atleast she did the damn thing…..I still saw no thte best performance since Carmen or Fighting Temptations but not the worst. To be fair Fighting wasnt that good either to be honest.

Beyonce seems to be really happy in her life. It just exudes from the inside of her. I noticed it when she was on 106 & Park. I can see it, i can see how happy she is. She’s in love, she has a sucessful career that will generate future monies and she probally will never ever have to worry about money for as long as she lives and her kids too (when she has them..lol). I really saw it in her eyes the other day. Go head Bey! Congrats on the #1 movie.

The profanity she used seem pushed and wth, the way she was walking thoughout the film.
I give it a B- for effort, she just needs more training.
I feel that it would have been a better fit for her if she played the antagonist, the stalker, it would have been a good stretch her then playing the beautiful wife who fights back at the end.

So me and my fiance went and saw the movie and I must say I was a little apprehensive about what I was going to see… But to my suprise the movie was actually pretty good. Beyonce is no Angela Bassett, but she played the part she was suppose to play. She played the wife and she did good. (For all the people knocking her “southern accent”, they can go to hell. She is from Texas and that’s how we sound, dammit, LOL) Even my fiance was like he’d go see it again and he isnt even a Beyonce fan for real. I like the fact that it wasn’t oversexualized but it was still sexy!! I do think they could have taken it “there” in that bathroom scene to really heat it up, but other than that it was fine…yes it was predictable, but I think that’s what made it fun….It’s a great popcorn movie and it kept you thinking what the next scene was gonna be!
The haters can say what you want about her acting, but most people I know went to see that movie because of Beyonce, not saying that Idris, and Ali dont have a following, but this was Beyonce’s time to see if she can draw a crowd WITHOUT another big name in the movie and WITHOUT singing…as she did…. Case Closed.

Congrats to Beyonce for a #1 movie at the box office!! LOL @ the people in here still salty it went number one and making excuses. The same people who thought it would flop is eating their words because she pulled in 30 million nearly in ticket sales. When some thought it would only do single digits. Even those with predictions were OFF. And the articles quoting the spectacular sales are pretty much shocked and eating their words ,and mentioning how BEYONCE helped bring in people to the movie. Idris and Larter were great as well, but don’t act like Beyonce didn’t work hard to promote.
Overall I thought the movie was GREAT. Everyone I went with, was thoroughly entertained, and thought Beyonce did a great job. She had people erupting when her character cracked jokes, went sassy. She really got into her character especially during the kitchen scene. Anyone who said she did horrible, has not seen the movie at all. No it’s not trying to win an Oscar no Spring and Summer movies are, but this was GOOD and well worth the money. It was sold out so much in NYC, and trust tickets weren’t cheap so all of these people felt the movie was worth their money. I’m happy for Beyonce, and glad that she once again proved doubters wrong while doing what she has loved.

NOW, the movie is number one, and the “realists” are saying that only reason the movie is number one is because of Idris, and that the movie wont be number 1 next week. lol. Well, duh! And if the movie is not #1 next week, will it be Idris fault, or will you go back to hating on Beyonce. Just admit it, as much as one person hates beyonce, there are about triple that amount that Love her. So, I gotta give probs where probs are due. Not only did Beyonce ACT in the movie (which only had a 20 million dollar budget-and grossed around 30 mil), but she was also an Executive Producer. lol. There really is NO stopping her. The only reason J-Hud won an Oscar for Dreamgirls is because she song the hell outta that song. I think J-Hud has a great voice, but I dont think what she did in Dreamgirls deserved an Oscar. The movie was ehh. It was a definite knock off of fatal attraction. Instead of Beyonce being the strong woman protecting her relationship, she tried too hard to be gangsta, which just wasn’t her or what the role needed. Her acting was not good, but not bad. To any singers or rappers etc, if you want to go into acting, stop plugging your music into every scene. It’s hard to take you seriously. And yeah the film was #1, but not because of Bey. People went for Idris or because it was one of the only minoritiy films out right now. I went to see it by default…I am not interested in 17 again and didn’t care for the Soloist.

I had no inclination to see the movie but since I was invited and didnt have to pay I went. The acting was better than her last movies which is a plus, but the movie itself was too damn predictable. After I saw the scene with the clear woman going into their home and holding and kissing the baby, I had a flash back my damn self and was waiting for Ali Larter to catch her issue! Mr Elba, Mr Elba, Mr Elba if I want in love with a handsome chocolate specimen of a man who is currently deployed in Iraq and has less than 10 days before he returns home I would be stalking your ass just like the clear woman! There is no appeasing the haters. You can not take this victory away from Beyonce no matter how hard you try. 28.5 million is a big deal considering that the movie only cost $20 million. Zac Efron’s 17 Again made around 25 million and the Hannah Montana movie made around 32 million so Beyonce is right up there with those teen stars.
Secondly, even if the movie is not number 1 next week so what, it was number 1 for its opening weeking and that is what mattered. In addition, you can’t compare Obsessed to a big summer blockbuster like Wolverine or Harry Potter, movies that cost in excess of $100 million. A movie like that has to make 80 million + its opening day just to break even.
Lastly, Beyonce’s album has done VERY WELL. With the exception of Lil Wayne, there is no artist in the past five years who has sold a million albums in the first week. In total, her albums are over 2 million. Sasha Fierce sold 482,000 its first week and Britney sold 505,000 but it dropped out of the top ten weeks before Beyonce did. Single Ladies was number 1 for 4 WEEKS. If I Were a Boy peaked at #3; Halo is currently #12 on the Hot 100 and rising and Diva peaked at #19.
In terms of Beyonce’s tour she just added another show at Madison Square Garden and four shows to Austraila; her European leg is sold out. Beyonce’s album is number 3 in the UK right now. Britney has not toured in 5 years so I can see why her fans are so desperate to see her and because there is a good chance she might go crazy again and end up in the hospital. The critics have given Britney horrible reviews but as well all know, people do not care about what the critics have to say.

I saw Obsessed and enjoyed it. I was talking to the screen and all. I thought that every person played their respective roles well. Beyonce did better than I expected and I am a certified Bey Stan. She has improved a great deal. Her language and slang was the same language and slan that I use. I barely say your and I am college educated. lol. She did a good job and I would definitely go and see the movie again. lol. Go and see it for yourself before you comment and pass judgment.

I think the leading lady should have been different. The fight and telephone scene was so fake. Bey was not ghetto enough to pull off the roles there. It was like she was forcing it.
I was in shock of the words during the fight. I’m going to mop the floor with you ass and so on. I was embrassed and could not believe it.
Anyway, I think Taraija Hanson would have rocked the part better. Bey needs to stick to looking pretty, waving and smiling. If you have to work that hard at acting it is not your calling. I rather is her step back and give the other actors that really need the money the job. Hell she is always bragging how she has money she can’t spend anyway.

I went to see the movie this weekend and her acting made it very difficult to enjoy the film. She is not a natural nor will she ever be a natural when it comes to acting because she is incapable of making the audience really believe what is coming out of her mouth. I think some people should just know when to give something up. She tried it out a few times and she has not been good at all. I can’t think of one film where I thought her acting was up to par. There was nothing ghetto about Bey’s performance. In the movie, she is a stay at home middle class mom and a wife to a very successful man. The movie was great; Idris was great to look at; Ali was very crazy and entertaining; and the fight scene was the BOMB! It was a good movie!

I must add..Some people will go out of their way to bash Beyonce. Over the weekend I saw the movie with a large group, there was one person who did not want to go see it, fine. But when they came out of the movie, they ask our opinion. Everyone RAVED about Obsessed even some who had low expectations raved so it wasn’t just fans. They loved it and thought it was entertaining. What did the other girl do who didn’t even give it a chance? Went on and on about how “Beyonce should stick to just singing, she shouldn’t act, she probably didn’t do good anyway, it’s not going to do well,you can’t be possibly telling the truth about her doing good”.
It’s such a shame that some people just can’t see others do good. And to me it reflects what goes on..up on this site. No matter how good another black woman does, it’s tore down. Even if you didn’t want to see it, it’s just so hard for some of you to just say “Congrats” those are big numbers. The movie only took 20 millions dollars to make! It made it’s money back and then some, all the while breaking records along the way. Wolverine has to do big numbers next week, it cost nearly 100 million dollars to and is marketed as a blockbuster. Props should be given where it’s due, instead of making up bogus responses to success.

I didn’t see Obsessed because I saw the 3 movies this movie was based on. The stalker part was based on Fatal Attraction, the stealing the baby/child was Hand that rock the cradle and the girl fight was in Trois 1.
I watched Trois in the theater years ago but I can’t remember it well. I think the female stalker and the wife fought. The stalker was killed by the husband and the wife was injured. She ened up in a wheel chair and the husband went to court but he got off.
One of the producers of Obsessed Will Packer, made Trois and they made alot of money on Trois because the film budget was under 1 million and they didn’t spend any money on marketing. All the publicity was by word of mouth. The movie was so successful that they did Trois 2, 3 and maybe 4. I only watched Trois 1 because to me the story ended there.

This movie was mediocre, not great. I could care less what the numbers say. People went to see it out of curiosity. But it was NOT an outstanding movie. However, Idris Elba made the movie worth watching. He is PURE SEXINESS IN MOTION!!!! Ali Larter did an exceptional job as well. But Beyonce’s acting was as always…unconvincing. She only really got good within the last 15 minutes of the movie. My suggestion: wait until it comes to Blockbuster.

I think if Beyonce wasn’t in the movie, the movie would have done better than $28.5 million. Had they put an actress like Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan or even Gabrielle Union the movie would have done much better at the boxoffice. Alot of people I know stayed away because of Beyonce’s acting.

Alicia Keys’ second and third albums had way less publicity and marketing than Beyonce’s second and third albums but Alicia Keys’ albums sales were always way higher than Beyonce’s albums sales. I think Beyonce tries to do too much too fast. She does everything at the sametime but is good at nothing.
Beyonce is a songwriter but not a good one at that. The lyrics to the songs like bootylicious, Freakum dress, Suga mama , Get me Bodied, Single ladies and Kitty Kat etc are so juvenile.
She’s a dancer but is mediocre at best. She just shakes her ass constantly and gyrates on stage.
Her singing voice is over the top falling on the verge of screaming.
Her acting is painful to watch. Her eyes are so expressionless. She always seems lost. She reminds me of a robot. Just feed info and will perform.
Her clothing line doesn’t have timeless pieces. From the colors to the designs of the clothes, the pieces always looks too showy and tacky.
Tyler Perry is the male version of Beyonce. Does everything but puts out mostly garbage. It’s all about the money for these two.

I know they have both different audience but Beyonce’s music has no substance behind them and her voice has no emotion also. The Writings on the Wall was the only album that had substance. Besides that album the best lyrics out of her were Independent Women and Survivor.
Rihanna makes catchy songs also but the lyrics to her songs has more substance and she sings them with emotion.
Although Beyonce has a better singing voice than Rihanna, Rihanna expresses more emotion in her voice than Beyonce.

Interesting you would say that, she just had a sold out show in Croatia. With 20,000 plus people in attendance. She has a wide fan base no matter color and age. Just added another show to the Garden to add to the demand. If that isn’t someone of substance I don’t know what is. For all of the Freakum Dresse’s and Get Me Bodied, there are the Me Myself and I’s, Save the Hero, Broken Hearted Girl, Survivor, Independent Women, Scared of Lonely, Hello,Irreplaceable, hell even Single Ladies and a great majority of Destiny’s Fulfilled that isn’t like that at all. All I know is that the head of Sony studios is very happy that his investment in Beyonce paid off. Some people said that the movie would have made more if Beyonce was not in it which is laughable. Beyonce has a huge following that far surpasses Nia Long or Sanaa, in fact I do not even know the last movie Nia Long was in and Sanaa was just in a Tyler Perry movie.
I really do not think it is fair to compare Beyonce to Rihanna, Alicia Keys or Britney. In terms of singing, dancing and every other criteria Beyonce is number 1. Beyonce is like Michael Jackson and everyone else is like Prince. While Brit was being carried away to the psych ward, Beyonce was making 80 million dollars. Alicia Keys is an amazing performer, but I would not spend money see her show. I do not really care for.

I said Beyonce’s music/songs lacks substance. Her singing voice doesn’t express the feelings/emotions that she’s trying to convey. Take for example one of her better songs Dangerously In Love. This song is about a woman in love. When you listen to her voice on the radio/ipod, it doesn’t sounds like a woman in love. She just runs through the words like she’s in a hurry to catch a train.

I actually enjoied the movie it was very suspenseful. I support beyonce even though “they” say she can’t act. However, some of those scenes were not reality. For example,why wasn’t that baby crying when the obsessed chick went to his room. Eever1 knows black kids isn’t going to take 2 secs. being alone with some1 they don’t know.

I saw Obsessed today. I spent most of the movie texting my friend, the movie was just way too predictable. The characters (especially the temp) weren’t developed enough, there were so many cliches in place of well thought out dialogue. I was just bored. The plot was mind numbing.
What many people are overlooking is the fact that critics were not allowed to screen this movie which is why there were no reviews in the newspapers on Friday. The powers that be behind the scenes knew what they were doing, they banked on Beyonce Knowles popularity to secure a #1 place opening week. I don’t know who wrote this movie but there was a real opportunity to give the people more than a bland Fatal Attraction knock off and they totally passed on it. Beyonce’s acting wasn’t bad but the chemistry between her and Idris Elba was a little dry. I think the actors basically did the best they could with such a weak and predictable script

Sorry Natasha, Bey cannot sell a ticket! This is the first movie she has been in that was not an absolute flop except Dream Girls, and she was not the star of that! I heard she improved, but she really needs to get some acting classes… all Bey has done is buy her roles! Her name has to be attached to it, which is smart, but damn! She can’t act! Let it go!

It’s called copyright infrigement and according to the FCC, you can get sued. The owner of this site needs to read up on the law a bit. Not trying to be mean but I like the site and would hate old girl to get a fat lawsuit because she keeps pulling video from illegitimate sites like YouTube. You have to get permission to use that type of footage…that’s why it never stays up long.

People think the Beyonce fans are obsessed with her but I must say that the haters hate Beyonce as much as her fans love her. Without fail, whenever there is a post about Beyonce, you can bet there will be a post about how Beyonce can’t sing, act, dance and is losing her fame all of which any objective person knows is completely false. The last six months have been great for Bey.
I understand why people hate Beyonce it is because she is just so talented, so successful and people can’t stand it. She’s never had a break down, never had a substance problem; she has good relationship with her family and is married to man who is just as succesful as her. She has had the privilege to perfom in front of presidents and yet she is so down to earth. No one- not Rihanna, Ciara or Alicia Keys has had the kind of year Beyonce has. Beyonce made history by singing for the first black president. Amazing
Also, for the record Beyonce’s Obsessed performed better than Zac Efron’s 17 Again even though 17 Again was in over 3200 theaters and Obsessed was in less than 2500. Obsessed- $28.5 million; 17 Again- 24.1.
Lastly, Beyonce IS like Michael Jackson because Michael was an amazing performer he set standard for all the other male artist and Beyonce is the same way.

I have to say I usually enjoy reading the foolishness that always comes out when anything Beyonce is mentioned but this post IS about her movie right? Why can’t people say it stinks? Why do people feel the need to defend her to no end as their “Bey”. I don’t “hate” on Beyonce one little bit and I’m nobody’s stan or idol . . . I personally don’t understand why people put so much stock in other people they don’t know. Respect the work, like some of the music but I don’t see how people write about her or other people as if they have a personal relationship and are personally invested in them and their success, lol.
If the movie stinks to one person, they can say it stinks! Everybody has different tastes in movies. My dh would probably say it was wonderful but everything he thinks is wonderful I hate, lol. I’m very critical of movies though and would probably only see this movie online (free) to see what everyone is talking about.
Frankly, the stans are making me hate Beyonce personally. Good grief. All the caps and everything are just too much especially the people yelling HATERS in one sentence but then speaking against others (Cici, Rihanna, etc) in the next. I guess it’s ok to hate on others.

I went to see the movie the second day it came out. overall I would see it again……… for the sexy that is idris (dnt knw how it’s spelled). However bey did a good job, but you rarely saw her throughout the movie until it was time to kick butt, which i loved. the only negative thing I can say about this is that her and Idris had no chemistry in the movie, yeah you’re married, and yeah you want to porttray yourself as PURE! to the fans, but if you wanna act, dammit act! she doesn’t know how to speak and it’s obvious in all her interviews. she needs speaking lessons! but being that papa knowles and her names all up and through those credits…….. you knw. and she has a track on the soundtrack……..yeah!
