We’ve just learned some extremely interesting information about Nas and Kelis‘ divorce. Our source–who has been rolling in Nas’ camp for years even before Kelis came along–tells TheYBF.com that even though Kelis is the one who filed the divorce papers, it was actually Nas who initiated the divorce.
We’re told that the fast downfall of their marriage began when Nas learned of Kelis’ sex tape with a rapper (who is not well known at all). When news of the sex tape leaked to the media, Nas’ ego and pride were understandably hurt. The raunchy sexcapades were taped before Nas and Kelis got married, but apparently it didn’t matter. He physically removed himself from her presence, which is why we rarely saw them together these last few months.
Said source also tells us this pregnancy was Kelis’ last ditch attempt to save the marriage. And while Nas is happy with his son being on the way, he was still going to file for divorce. But apparently, Kelis wanted to beat him to the punch–likely out of spite–so she hurriedly filed first.
Damn. Looks like this split may get a bit messier than expected….

There was never a Kelis sex tape and the day after the rumor broke Nas was on stage saying he was Kelis’ #1 fan and just a few weeks ago was talking about how great his wife/marriage were (womp!). The story that makes the most sense is that Kelis found texts from a chick he was creeping with and filed for divorce. This is what Elliott Wilson (XXL mag) says and he’s the only source other than Nas and Kelis that I will believe.

Okay. Call me anal for this sidenote…I won’t comment on the whole Kelis/Nas bit as whatever’s whatever, I guess… BUT with the wording of the article saying that something like that happened before the MARRIAGE, and not stating it was before they got together PERIOD, I’m surprised that so many people are siding with the fact that anyone (not necessarily Nas in this case if it’s true or not, I’m just commenting on anyone in general) should let it go since it was “before they were married”. I would hope that people who are in a committed relationship value enough respect for their partner to not do anything that would be out of line of what their relationship was about (such as cheating) regardless if they were married or not. Maybe the comments on here were actually getting at that fact but just failed to be written specifically (or I could be misinterpreting), but I’m telling you now that I’d want that trust in place before I even think of walking down the aisle; the certificate should not be viewed as a vow to not cheat, your decision to be involved in a monogamous relationship in the first place should. I just had to get that off my chest…
