Drake has great lyrical skills. Other rappers’ lyrics are sub-par. They make one-hit wonder dance songs just to make a quick buck, such as Soulja Boy, DJ Unk, and many others. Or they make mediocre songs and sound ignorant trying to make any words rhyme (Plies, Flo-rida). If you listen to Drake’s songs you know that he is not disrespectful to women like many other rappers are in their songs (“Sweatpants, hair tied, chillin with no makeup on. That’s when you’re the prettiest, I hope that you don’t take it wrong”). He is a storyteller and does some great word play as far as lyrics go. Just like Wayne. Wayne does not necessarily talk about substance in his songs, but most of his songs have great word play and metaphors that it makes his songs much different from others. To each his own though.

Well said. Most of Drake’s songs/features aren’t disrespectful to women. Listen to: One Night Off, Best You Ever Had, Teach You A Lesson, Bria’s Interlude, Houstatlantavegas (yeah he’s talking about strippers but no bitches or hoes being slung around) that’s just a short list.

As for Ciara and her performance?!? Mediocre.
For those talking about dancing, ok there are HBCU dancers doing this all over, trained professional dancers doing this hip hop choreography all over. She is supposed to be a SINGER though as well. I can be the first to admit that she has dancing skills, but a musical guest performance on SNL is supposed to be about vocals, and good music first and foremost. Her inspirations throughout the video were apparent. And those watching could see who she clearly tried to emulate whether it was Janet or Bey. I’m sure its hard for her to still know. But those comparisons can’t be backed up when one of those said performers came to SNL late last year, and killed the dancing AND singing. While performing a slow song and vocally giving a great show. Ciara’s rendition of Never Ever as a mess and simplistic. She needs to seriously work at her craft before trying to emulate, imitate, and copy people. Because right now she has no grounds to stand on.

Most ppl don’t know Drake was on TV long b4 he rapped. He plays a high school kid on the Canadian after school program called Degrassi. If you watch the show you’d never know he was an actor. His character gets shot on one episode where they had a school shooting and he’s had to play his role in a wheel chair. Very good actor too.

I thought her performance was great! She looked good and sounded good. She was not lip syncing as many do. Give her a break. Try singing, or holding a note while dancing and see if you can go half as good as she did. As far as the facial expressions, so what! Lots of singers make facial expressions on weak notes. It’s called emotions.
