I have been spending “special time” with Russell for about 4 months and in that time I have learned some subtle things about some in the black community that have surprised me. I must say that while it has been a bit of a challenge for me, it has also been a wonderful learning experience. I realize that in this day of Obama and change that there is still a tremendous amount of poverty, suffering and pain in the black community, and for that I am deeply sorry. But, I have to say the angry responses to those realities are sometimes misdirected….Just for the record, I am nobody’s white b*tch, gold digger or fame chaser. Nor am I any of the other mean things I have been called lately. I don’t need anything from anybody, I come from a good family and I’m a young independent “successful” model making my way in NYC. First of all, Julie, how did your blog title “B*tch Get Your Own Man” relate to the purpose you are attempting and failing to convey? Are you mad at the names a few people in the black–and white for that matter–communities are calling you because of your interracial relationship? First, Natasha- if you didn’t post anything about her race or their interracial relationship, which anyone who reads your sight can attest to- why bother responding to her inarticulate comments?
Second, I do believe the audience this chick was trying to address is comprised of SOME black females who feel that a black man should never be with a nonblack female and act as if they have a “right” to said black man, by virtue of being black. Though those particular women may not be you or most of your readers, you have to admit they exist. And for those particular women, there are some historical and cultural justifications for why a woman might feel anger, annoyance, whatever, at the nonblack female and some of that has to do with economics as affected by history and politics.

You are right. It appears she equates black with poverty when there is a grave disparity in the black community. When one starts to depict the black community there are soo many variables and different subcultures involved. I do not understand why she made reference to the state of black people as she sees it from people making racial statements towards her. There was no need to comment on the economic and social issues plaquing some of the black communities much less alone reference Obama. She needs to shut up and learn to ignore. I am a white female with a black BFF. I only csme accross this site because i was checking out the dlisted.com site (halarious by the way!) Yes Julie and her rantings are very ignorant… as many have said before me she is 23!! and a model… with no disrespect for people in that age group that have more couth… you have to consider the source.
In 2009 and growing up in the suburbs of detroit, I am not immune to racial tension, but I can say pretty much through my own experience that if you are 38 years old or younger in my demographics the hurt and alienation between the black and white community is something that has been told to us through our relatives and internalized so deeply that we still behave like segragation exists today on both sides. It doesn’t… (yes that is my ignorance talking there) or hopefully better said, should not exist… we are all people.
Having a black best friend has given me exposure to the black community on some part, and I am the minority on those occassions, so far so good. When i was younger I developed a thought process of that although there are many attractive men of other ethniticities, it was best left to the eye because of the social barriers of society in general. I am happily engaged to a white man today, but my early thought process has developed into an attitude of that you can’t help who or what race you fall in love with or enjoy spending time with… the fact that you enjoy spending time with a person and your day is better because of it is all that should matter as long as you are the one paying your way in life… live in the present and look toward the future… forgive the past, it was just a learning experience.
Craze, greed, ignorance, poverty, wealth, disallusion, etc. comes in all colors it is not race or gender specific. That being said, rip on me all you like (lol), true story Katie was classy and Julie was trashy, believe what comes around goes around… we’re just not always there to see the “comes around” part.

ummm the person natasha or whatever basicly did not address anything. she brought in irrelevant things that don’t even pertain to julie’s post. the hip hop award shows and stuff like that. what does that have to do with the post? and of course none of you people have heard of her because most of you probably aren’t into the whole modeling scene. she IS as SUCCESSFUL model long before she met russell. julie was basicly getting some stuff off her chest that was being addressed to her on a daily basis. Mostly RASCIST stuff said about her for basicly being white. If she was black none of you would even care.
