Looks like Drake Drizzy just copped one of the best record deals any newcomer’s ever gotten. After a budding war amongst top labels in the game, Drake has reportedly signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money records. Drake has been kickin’ it with the Young Money boys ever since he hit the scene, but he didn’t officially sign with them because Cash Money/Young Money is known for doing some shady ish to their artists. But Drake turned down Atlantic’s $2 milli offer to wait for a better deal. And he got it. Reports state:
It was widely reported that Drake was offered 2 million from Atlantic Records but turned that down to figure out his options a little bit more. It was also rumored that there was tension between Wayne and Drake due to the fact that Drake would not sign with him. Well I am hearing that Drizzy wanted to sign with Wayne all along but was concerned due to the fact that Young Money is an offshoot of Cash Money and Cash Money has the worst reputation in the business for fucking artists out of their money and overall career. However my intel into this situation told me that Drake has certain guarantees such as album release dates in his contract and also the fact that Weezy doubled the amount he was being offered and gave Drake 4 million just to sign! This is what ultimately led Drake to stick with the Martian.
Glad somebody’s got a good business head on their shoulders in this industry…
Here’s a few more behind the scenes shots from “Best I Ever Had” shoot:

And here’s Pleasure P.’s new vid for his single “Under”:
Awww Tia Mowry is fab in the vid. Loves her.

Tribute at the Apollo Theater
It’s been confirmed that there will be a public viewing of Michael Jackson’s body at Neverland Ranch this Friday. It is open to the public. No other final funeral arrangements have been made just yet.
Looks like VIBE went out with a bang:

Christina Milian and her fiance The Dream are rocking the final issue of VIBE (they folded today) topless. Seemed like a trend for VIBE as of late. This one looks like a subtle shout out to Janet. Your thoughts?

So at Sunday night’s BET Awards, Lil Wayne and Drake performed “Every Girl”. Probably not the best decision as the REAL un-edited word say “I wish I could f*ck every girl in the world” in the chorus a million times. And of course, that’s what the songs about. So aside from BET’s bang up job of editing, Weezy brings out his pre-teen daughter Reginae and her BFFs to dance around the stage during the song. If you were outraged like us, we weren’t the only ones. Here’s what celebs on Twitter were saying:
According to the Examiner:
“Overrall, the show was a big downer because… many things just seemed out of place. For example, Drake’s performance had Lil’ Wayne and his pre-teen daughter with other young girls on stage rapping along to “Every Girl in the World,” which is a song about having escapades with all the girls in the world.”
Twitter and Facebook became the main source of people revealing their disappointment of the performance. From celebrities to high profile magazines, everyone had something to say about it.
“Lil’ wayne + wanting to f*ck every girl + w/ young girls on stage = smh, pure mess. how did bet miss how inappropriate that was?! (TheSourceMag’s Twitter)
these girls onstage look a littttttle tooooo young to be the subject of this song. could be the red tutu (AngelaYee’s Twitter)
Okay I have a problem! Why are there 12 year olds on stage while Drake and Lil Wayne singing this song!! I as like is that a little GIRL????? and then I was like wait there are more lil kids! HUH?? (TiaMowry’s Twitter)
Drake/Lil Wayne performance really pissed me off by bringing those young 10 year old girls singing I would F ever girl in the world. (IPRMKTG’s Twitter)”
I hear folks are writing letters and ringing BET’s phones off the hook because of this ish right here. Part of me is not surprised by the foolery. The other part is just sad. Oh wells….
For your own viewing pleasure.
YBF’s got some exclusive images from former Danity Kane chick Dawn Richard and Day 26 member Qwanell “Q” Mosely’s brand new alter ego photoshoot. It was shot by photographer Derek Blanks. They’re showing off their sexual side that the couple has never been shy about. Check it and click the pics for full sized images:

H-O-T. Fab shoot for these 2. And yes, Q is tatted up with Dawn’s lips and her name on his waist. Seems like folks are trading in engagement rings for tattoos these days….

Steve Harvey and his wife aren’t the only YBF folks yachting it up off the coast of Italy this week. Denzel and Pauletta Washington and their kids were all spotted on their yacht in Portofino, Italy and taking in the sites on land:

They’re keeping up with their Michael Jackson news.

And spending some good quality time as a fam as Denzy and Pauletta celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary.

Naturi Naughton rocked this Bebe Studded Trapunto Strapless fitted dress to the BET Awards Sunday night. It had alternating rows of studded silver and gunmetal beading and a 2 way zipper. She paired it with black bootie/sandals and silver accessories. But Jordin Sparks rocked the Bebe dress first back in May when she returned to American Idol to perform. She paired it with black double strapped heels. So…

Word has it VIBE magazine is shutting its doors and closing the pages on the company today. They’ve been suffering through tough times this year despite being one of the top magazine throughout the 90’s. But new owners took over in 2006.
Calls were placed to EIC Danyel Smith’s office and publisher Edgar Hernandez’s office and sources there confirmed the shut-down. This past February, VIBE reduced its circulation and publishing frequency, cut salaries, and moved employees to a four-day work week to save money. First VIBE Vixen and now the flagship mag itself is dunzo. R.I.P. VIBE.
UPDATE: Here’s the official statement from Editor In Chief Danyel Smith:
On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today. We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It’s a tragic week in overall, but as the doors of VIBE Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and who continue to love the VIBE brand. We thank you, we have served you with joy, pride and excellence, and we will miss you.
