Nas & Maxwell Get Hotel Room Groupie Love+Michael Irvin Gets Slapped With A Suit
Um, so what’s going on here?:
Nas & Maxwell–who I wouldn’t even think would be in this “situation” together–were caught partying it up with some groupies in their Turks & Caicos hotel room recently. Even though we don’t actually see any “groupie festivites” going down, we all know how ish like this plays out. And it probably won’t help Nas’ divorce saga. Or Maxwell’s relationship with his model girlfriend. Boys will be boys…

So Former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin has a new football reality show on Spike TV that he’s producing. But 3 other up and coming producers say he stole their whole idea and now they want their paper:
The show is about giving unknown athletes a shot at playing for the Dallas Cowboys — but in the lawsuit, filed last week in Dallas, Irvin is accused of screwing three unknown producers out of their chance to make it in Hollywood.
In the suit, the men claim they approached Irvin with the idea for a show in 2007 — but after they allegedly presented Irvin with storyboards and even a poster for the show, the Hall of Famer ran off with the idea and cut the guys out of credit, cash and even changed the name of the show to “4th and Long.”

I’m not surprised. Reality show ideas get stolen by established talent all the time. Anyone with a reality show idea needs to create a paper trail, register their ideas with the WGA, and record meetings with any producers or networks with audio or audio & video. However, ask permission to record the meeting or hire a stenographer, a certified one, to type out all that is said at the meeting. Television shows, especially ones with longevity, can be very lucrative, so their is nothing wrong with protecting your intellectual property. The same way you would secure your car in a high crime area, is the same way you should secure your ideas when swimming with production sharks.

Oh an on the reality show piece… the industry itself can be trife.. Reality show’s get stolen all the time. this isn’t the first time nor will it be the last. that’s why you have to COPYRIGHT your ideas and not speak of them until you get your paper right.
