So after the rumors hit this week about PaPa Knowles stirring up trouble at the BET Awards, we decided to ask our own sources about the alleged scandal and wait for some confirmations. Apparently Mathew Knowles told BET that Beyonce would not perform if they insisted on letting former Destiny’s Stepchild LeToya Luckett perform as well. We all see whose name is still on the BET Awards moniker, so it’s safe to say LeToya lost this one.
We asked our own sources at BET about whether any of this is true, and we got a slew of “No comment”’s. Don’t know about y’all but I’m taking this as a yes. Damn shame. Here’s a copy of the letter sent out:

Mathew made a threat against BET to remove Beyonce from the BET Awards line-up if LeToya were to perform on that same stage that same night. It is sad to say but I think XXXX will win over LeToya [Luckett]’s management because Beyonce is a garantee to bring the ratings up for the show. In business we have to deal with shady politics but this is going too far. All I want is both girls to perform. Not just want or the other. I’ve talked about it to some LeToya fans about it and now they started a petition (http://twitition.com/nufi6) . Even if BET wouldn’t bend over (which I doubt) he would get Beyonce out there at the last minute. He’s just trying to intimidate BET. Anyway now you know, deal with this info the best way you can.Please don’t reveal my indentity or where I work at.

On another note, Beyonce reportedly had her entire entourage take her 45 feet (directly across from her London hotel) to the Harvey Nichols to shop. They packed up several cars with security and assistants just to go across the street to shop. This wouldn’t be news if they were continuing their journey elsewhere. But they went right back tot he hotel afetr the shopping spree. I mean….the street was barricaded and it is hard to walk all the way down the block in 6 inch stilettos. Nevermind…

Okay this is irritating me, being that I am Houstonian and avid supporter of both artists. People keep on persisting that LeToya is of such a low caliber, especially in comparison to Beyonce, but in actuality when you’re publicly outsed from a group where the father of the group is the head henchman, it’s then going to be quite a trial to claw to the top. LeToya is not being given the equal playing field when it comes to proving herself as an artist, as with Kelly and dare I say it, but Ciara as well. Bey is where she is because of what she is, a package. Bey worked HARD to get to the point where she is. And though I am not a fan of her music, I am a fan of what she has done for her career, her drive, and her hard work. She worked for what she has and that is commendable to me.
Letoya is a great singer, I do wish her the best, but the two are not comparable in their careers. Beyonce can’t help the fact that she is light skinned…if that was the only reason for her success Amerie and all the others would be on top…but they’re not, she is cause she can work the industry. In public, she’s classy, respectable, and kind to her fans…big up to her.

Matthew Knowles is intimidated because Letoya does have star power. When she came out with her first CD she was supposed to flop and never be heard of again. But she was #1 on the r&b charts for a minute and is now coming out with her sophmore CD. And obviously the BET viewers like her more than Beyonce because I was watching 106 & Park the other day(such a rare occurance) and Letoya’s new song was 3 while Beyonce’s was like 8 or something. I’m a huge Beyonce fan but I’m a firm believer in karma. If she keeps her low down daddy and all his negativity around her she will lose all the success she has.

I’m sorry but one man does NOT have a corner market on the entire industry. If they made songs that have a cross market appeal then they would also have the same opportunity. Now is his hussle more serious and probably more focused on his daughter, abosolutely. He and his family have invested countless hours, money, blood, sweat, and tears into making her a star. As far as Kelly and LeToya, do I think they are talented, yes. But they are not and do not have the same “superstar” quality that Beyonce has. Its not hating its fact. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but show programmers would definitely find it more interesting for ratings to have Bey and Letoya perform on the same show, to rev up that whole historic rivalry thing, than just to have LeToya Luckett. I like them both, but having LeToya perform on the same show as Beyonce, would make for ratings (people comparing the two performances after the show.)
For lack of a better reference, it’s like having Chris Brown and Rihanna perform on the same show. Not going to happen anytime soon.

I don’t think it is fair to criticize Beyonce for something that is probably not even true. People give Matthew Knowles too much credit. He is not the most powerful man in Hollywood.
This story reminds of the rumor someone put out about how Matthew offered someone on Obama’s innauguration committee money so Beyonce could perform. ^^^^There are 3 sides to every story and to be truthful, Bey really didn’t have anything to do with that. That was between them, MK and Columbia. I have seen and heard too many sources. In fact, I read a comment by accident on another side that mention this that I am going to post: If you ever get a chance to speak to Latoya, she’ll put you on.. Actually, the only response Bee had for the entire scandal was the words she wrote in Survivor…. And Beyonce was not responsible for Latoya and Latavia leaving the group. I’d blame Matthew Knowles for that. I remember Beyonce (moreso) than Kelly being more emotionally affected by their departure. I remember the last time I saw the original girls together. It was in 2000 (i believe) , we all got on an elevator at the Sony headquarters in NY, and I stood in the left hand corner of the elevator – Beyonce and Kelly were next to me, then Matthew , and on the other side of the elevator was Latoya and Latavia. This was before I knew of any rift, but all in all it still felt odd – like 2 different groups… Farrah’s departure was really her own doing. She missed shows, rehearsals and really was a liability (on all levels) to the group. Who wouldn’t give her a pink slip? And that decision was a Sony, management, group and Farrah decision. Seriosuly, Beyonce gets most of the negative ish because that’s her father and truth be told, she really didn’t have that much power (at that time) – nor did Matthew (in the greater scheme of things—Columbia’s senior brass).. It may seem like im biased – which Im not, I just had an opportunity to see things first hand and it really wasn’t the same depiction I got from the media. There’s always another side to every story.
Dude worked at Columbia Records so he got see what happened between them all. But people are going to believe what they want for one reason: Bey’s last name is Matthew and she’s more famous than both of them and we love to root for the “underdog”. It’s over, even Toya said she learned a lot from being in DC and especially Beyonce on working hard and that peeps shouldn’t hate on her. They grew up and it’s sad that to this day people are using this to get ratings.

^^^You are right, still I wanted to give some balance. It’s funny, someone(Danette) said that if this was anyone else getting negativity, it would be ok by Bey fans and no one would be defending them. I will not speak for them, but I speak for me, I don’t go in threads of entertainers I am not a fan of and two, when that whole Rihanna thing went down with the pics, I was mad at this blog and other blogs for posting the pics. It was wrong. Especially since she didn’t leak them. I am happy when black females shine in the industry and know how hard it is for them to do such even if I am not a fan. I just wish that most of had the same view, if people knew how the industry works, they would be more appreciative of what every artist/entertainer/performer has to go through, especially black female one. Again people in here are arent thinking straight. Did anyone in school learn what a primary or secondary sourc is? If you have forgotten then something is clearly the matter with you and your education. Let’s break it down.
Primary Source: You hear it straight from someone, not a he, she say document, that we cant even prove was sent by someone real. Anybody could type some words together and put it on their blogs and act like it was a factual letter sent. Ex. Deborah Lee of BET stating “Matthew Knowles kicked Le’toya off the ballot”. Did we hear that? NO!
Secondary Source: Self explanatory, not a direct source, facts that come from an outside party. ex. Latavia: Letoya told me that Matthew Knowles kicked Beyonce off of the ballot. Do we have that? NO. And even so, secondary sources are always known to be less reliable than a primary source.
Some of you need to stop going to the blogs for facts and believing everything you hear. Some people think Wikipedia is a primary source. No. For the media, you need to get up on Broadcasting Cable, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter,Huffington Post, even The Grio. Blogs like this can be fun, but it’s seriously ridiculous some of you are reading into sources such as “Destiny’s Child Rumours”. Its sad.

This sounds too true to me. I’m from houston and it is widely known that the girls were offered a major settlement not to bad mouth Beyonce or Destin’y Child or him…or he would/can sue the hell outta them.
I hope they were well compensated for how badly they were treated and kicked out of the group, all because they disagreed with Papa Knowles managing the group.
Matthew actually used to give interviews to the local radios stations after the whole breakup thing and say stupid things like (paraphrasing here) “every group has a star and the person that can sing the best” I guess he never heard of Boys II Men or En Vogue.
I believe B knoew about it because she has always been controlled by her father, and now that goes control has been passed to her husband. Sasha Fierce and her last album were so overtly hip hop she had to lose a lot of fans. B was not so nasty and tacky as to have songs talking about “My Kitty Kat” and that ish.

papa knowles i can name one or two songs that will put your princess to shame by two artist that are not all over the mag. and they have never rolled on the floor, shook their a** til the cows come home, papa knowles you have did a supper job of taking all of the pressure off of your daughter, and handleing her best interest but for you to try and stop another young black woman whos trying to make it in the industry wrong, i know that you are a nut case, and everybody else does too, they just don’t want to hurt your feeling but papa knowles god has blessed you and your family and with your selfishness god can take it all away from you.

People can’t differenciate between truth and lies especially when someone is as successful as Beyonce.
They did this with the Jacksons you see how Michael turned out. They used to say Janet’s bleaching her skin, removed a couple ribs, had several different plastic sugery & features.
They do it to everyone on top.
Yes you can’t believe their public personas because we don’t know them. But the truth will come out one day and so far every celeb and non celeb that has met her say the same things about her.

I used to be a Beyonce fan but recently…I’m thinking she needs to take a break. That ego song is straight garbage. I can’t think highly of someone that has to block another performer from getting their money. Papa Knowles and Beyonce had better watch how they treat people. You know how Karma is….everything that goes up must come back down. Blocking Latoya from performing is stupid. What sense does that make, is Beyonce royalty? I mean her Sasha Fierce album was a complete let down…and that ego song is classless.
