Nelly came out to support his main chick Ashanti at her opening last night for Encores! Broadway musical “The Wiz”. Well aren’t they cute…
The afterparty went down at K Lounge in NYC and we hear it was a very private and invitation only event for the cast and family–hosted my “Team Ashanti”. At least that’s what the invitation said. And Momanger Tina and sis Shi Shi were there of course.
Ashanti/Dorothy even brought her silver slippers.
Castmates Dawn Lewis and LaChanze were there at the opening event as well.

I’ve always liked Ashanti and I think if it wasn’t for that idiot Irv Gotti calling her the princess of r&B or whatever he said at the time she would have had a better career cause she did have the hits. But they got some major backlash from that ish and I’m glad she’s not with that wack label anymore.

I went to see the Show last Saturday and it wasn’t bad, I don’t think that Ashanti was that good but the woman who played Dorothy’s aunt and the Good Witch was PHENOMENAL….that’s the person who needs the most recognition

So in the book ” The wizard of Oz” and in ” the Wiz” Dorothy wears silver slippers… the yellow brick road and silver slippers shoes silver and gold.
it was changed for the movie because red was thought to look better…… I know its a little thing but a big thing.
in the Movie ” the Wiz” she wears silver slippers too.

Ashanti’s performance was way less than mediocre. I never took her for an actress anyway…hope her performance gets better. I’d rather wait on this to come on DVD than watch her STAR in another play. But everyone else’s performance was great so Kudos to the rest of the cast

The play was really good! saw it on Tuesday and was thoroughly impressed! The cast was very strong with the singing… even Ashanti sounded beautiful and she was so cute and bubbly! She looks like a little girl in person, she is truly adorable! anybody in NYC, needs to check it out! it was a great turnout also, every scene received a standing O from the audience! very happy for Ashanti! She looks gorgeous by the way!

I actually went to see it and I was pleasantly surprised by Ashanti’s performance. It was a great play and she held her own and a tune. I was very skeptical when I saw the rehearsal on line. She really did a great job. I think everyone should go out and see it.
I’m glad to see her and Nelly together. I like that they stay under the radar and are private. It seems like a real relationship.

I visited NY to see the show and I was not impressed. Ashani singing was well…Ashanti’s singing. (Nasaly)Christian, the scarecrow was by far the best. Don’t blink or you will miss Tahchina. The dancing was amazing. Dawn was hilarious. And what got us was that Ashanti NEVER clicked her heels 3 times to get home. What the hell?!!!?

OK I just want to say that I saw this play on Saturday and it was good. NOT GREAT!! Everyone did their thing except Ashanti. I think they need to get a different Dorothy because she has absolutely no stage presence.

I am from Baltimore and I made a special trip to Ny to see the Wiz the cast was amazing including Ms. Ashanti. She did her thing just like everyone else, the music, dancing and the whole entire show was wonderful. So if you haven’t seen it, go see the show and judge for yourself. I did get to meet her and her mom they are both sweethearts. Ashanti is a beautiful young lady and for those of you who talks about her weight, you haven’t seen her in person, the girl only weight about 130 if that much. So people stop commenting on things you don’t know.
