Bow Wow & Jim Jones DROPPED From Columbia?!
Our A&R source at Columbia Records tells TheYBF.com that rappers Bow Wow and Jim Jones have just been dropped from the label. We called the Columbia offices to get an official statement, but it was after hours. Columbia has, though, removed both artists from their website.
Looks like Bow Wow got his wish. He was complaining on Twitter for days recently about how bad he wanted out of his contract with Columbia because they weren’t treating him right. He also alluded to them not paying enough attention to him and made a point to say that Beyonce is also on Columbia. He later removed those particular Tweets but insisted that he wanted bigger and better things.
UPDATE: Bow Wow confirmed via Twitter that he and Columbia have parted ways:

Matthew Knowles does have a lot of control, doesn’t he? Hmmmmm…. regardless, if Bow had more promotion for this album or not he still would’ve got around the same amount of sells because people were slowly getting tired of the crap he raps about. It’s not that they didn’t care, it’s that they didn’t allow him to try new things. Like he stated. When he mentioned Beyonce he meant that they do everything to appeal to her. But not as much to him, seeing as though they are both big entities in different ways. Bow Wow was on Sony Urban and when that got cut, alot of “urban artists” lost the support that pushed them up.. They never got to regain it.

Well, personally, I wish him well in whatever he does. I’d expect his songs would’ve changed over the years, somewhat. Whether I like the lyrics or not, most other people will buy a CD from any person who sings about their “rocks” and all that, but I just hope for more from Bow Wow.
I know he can become very much more successful as an actor than he already is. I hope he realizes he doesn’t need to carry that cocky persona in order to appeal to people because he’s made his mark in the music industry. Everybody obviously knows who he is.
I’m sure people would love to see a different, more mature Bow Wow. Someone who doesn’t necessarily brag about what he has and how much “better” he is than every other person.

Ok, ummm, How old was he when he wrote many lyrics. How many Jay Z, Puffy, Biggie, YOU NAME IT RAPPER, has had braggadocious lyrics, it’s a part of hip hop. He started out as a kid, and is in what is commonly known as a “hard transitional period.”

He’s not broke when an artist’s money comes from concerts. and he’s paid for the Scream Tour and he did UCP with Chris Brown. And like I said that’s ONE flop he had but it was underpromoted BEFORE it flopped.
