Tameka Raymond’s Foster’s BFF Speaks Out
So Tameka Raymond’s best friend of 20 years Nyeisha is speaking out about the Raymond’s divorce. Basically that this whole divorce melee was all a big surprise to Tameka. She says she doesn’t like seeing her friend he talked about badly in the media, so she wants to clear up the rumors. But she’s “not speaking on her behalf”. Here’s a snippet of her interview with Essence:
NYEISHA DEWITT: Let me first say that I hope Tameka and Usher can salvage things as a couple. I’ve known Tameka since I was in middle school and she was in high school, and we’ve been friends since. It’s not that I have to defend her or speak on her behalf as if she’s done something wrong, but I simply want people to know everything they read about her isn’t true. It hurts me to read the lies that people write and say about her.
ESSENCE.COM: Is it true she first learned that Usher filed for divorce after reading about it?
DEWITT: She didn’t know that he was going to file. Of course, she knew that there were challenges in their relationship and had been some discord since March and was aware there were some things that needed to be worked through. But did she know that divorce was imminent? No. It was a total surprise.ESSENCE.COM: Was Tameka also caught off guard by the images of Usher and Def Jam’s Grace Miguel?
DEWITT: I don’t know what it is or isn’t. What I admire about Tameka is that, despite all the gossip, she isn’t bitter or hardened by it. I don’t know how she does it especially with children [from a previous relationship] old enough to read the lies that are written. It’s like having to keep your hands at your side while someone repeatedly punches you in your face.
Her BFF goes on to “clear up” rumors. Honestly even some of what she says sounds fishy. But whatevs. Check it out for yourselves.

My take is that the marriage was supposed to end this way! Usher got what he wanted 2 children, born to the woman he married (notice I didnt say loved, atho he probably has SOME love for her as the mother of his children). He can divorce her, give her some change $$ for life, because the babies are young, she wont have to work again….and he has his kids that he can get joint custody of and raise. Say what you want about Tameeka, but certain he knew she was a good woman/mother and that is why he married her and had the kids. He knows those children will be well taken care of (outside of the money piece) I think he got what he wanted out of this deal, now, the he can close this chapter…

I think she is suprised because she probably thought having the 2 kids would turn the “marriage” from the fraud it was to a full loving relationship….but it didnt happen.

SassyNYC hit the nail on the head. This marriage was a cleverly crafted arrangement from Day 1. He wanted kids (probably to ward off the gay rumors); she was the closest woman to him at the time whom he could trust as being the mother of his children; she gets a nice divorce settlement…everyone gets something out of the deal (not to mention the press surrounding this which will only go to boost his upcoming album sales). Does no one else find it interesting that Ursh always has some drama going on when he’s close to dropping an album? I feel very sorry for Tameka. To break up in the public eye and to have an unknown divorce sprung on you, is embarassing and humiliating. I was particularly proud when Usher married Tameka because he went outside of what seems to be the status quo (Sucessful black men who marry dark complexioned sisters are not the norm).
The only negative things that I have seen regarding Tameka is her My Space page. She makes some very insensitive comments regarding Usher’s mother and some other questionable comments. I was shocked when I came across it and actually believed that perhaps someone created the page and was moonlighting in her stead. I later changed my mind because there are to many personal photos that only someone having intimate knowledge of that family would have access to. Regardless of how she feels about Usher’s mother, it does not grant her the right to disrespect this woman using a public medium such as my space.

Wrong. Look at the history. Go to Splash News and their pic archive — there are pics of Tameka & Usher dating all the way back to 2001. Point being, they’ve most likely been effign around forever, and she has seemingly been a sidepiece for even longer. Check the record… I can even remember in 2005 when he was pictured with her in Jamaica or the Bahamas with his hand halfway up her ass tombou “oh we’re just friends”. During this SAME time, he was dating Xzibit’s girlfriend Eishia Brightwell (who he was also rumored to have been effing when he was with Chili. They met on the set of the I Need a Girl Pt 1 video — she’s Diddy’s love interest in there). and Naomi Campbell.
Point is… Usher likes to get it in, lmao. And he seemingly has some fixation with going around wifing other men’s women. Chili was still seeing Dallas, Eishia was engaged to Xzibit, and Tameka was married to Ryan Glover. As far as Tameka & Usher’s marriage… I believe he got her knocked up and that’s simply why he married her. Hell, she even said as much inadvertently in that Essence article of the two when she told how he proposed.. …Spur of the moment, in the studio with Robin Thicke, and he tied a piece of YARN around her finger because he did not have a ring. Any man who is serious about marriage does not do so with a damn piece of string. Especially when they have money at their disposal to purchase a real ring. Let alone the cancellation of the first wedding.. And the fact that they were married while he was promoting an album AND while she was pregnant.. Not to mention his other business ventures he is embarking on. It was not a “planned” thing, he attempted to “do the right thing” like we’re in the 60’s and marry her just b/c he got her knocked up. Yall keeps saying Usher got with her just for kids. Don’t yall think he could have chosen any woman he wanted, why Maneka. If any guy had to pick and choose who he want to have kids with, you go for the top notch not some old ugly ass hag, wore out broad. She left her husband for Usher, that was a dumb move, she even admitted her friends were like in disbelief. Oh yeah, Usher is not gay, yall need to stop making those rumers up.
