Christina Milian and her fiance The Dream are rocking the final issue of VIBE (they folded today) topless. Seemed like a trend for VIBE as of late. This one looks like a subtle shout out to Janet. Your thoughts?
So at Sunday night’s BET Awards, Lil Wayne and Drake performed “Every Girl”. Probably not the best decision as the REAL un-edited word say “I wish I could f*ck every girl in the world” in the chorus a million times. And of course, that’s what the songs about. So aside from BET’s bang up job of editing, Weezy brings out his pre-teen daughter Reginae and her BFFs to dance around the stage during the song. If you were outraged like us, we weren’t the only ones. Here’s what celebs on Twitter were saying:

I havent watched the coonery yet but I plan to just because I like to know my enemy (BET). How did this Debra Lee lady get/keep her job??? Someone please offer some insight because I would like to know. Lil Wayne’s display at the awards program was digusting. That’s the kind of thing that sets black people back at least one hundred years. What made the folks at BET think it would be a good idea for Lil Wayne to perform any kind of song, where there was going to be a tribute? First, he looks like a gremlin and second, he had little kids up there with him while this negro was cussing and acting stupid and third he should have been ashamed at that mess he was on stage rapping about. Don’t get me wrong, I like maybe a few of Lil Wayne’s songs but there is a time and a place to act like you don’t have any home training or self respect-but the BET awards tribute to Michael Jackson was not the place. BET Television should close down after this mess of a “tribute” –
1) Jamie Foxx – sit DOWN. How dare you come out and promote your rank-azz Vegas show in a supposed “MJ” Tribute? And then sing 4 ka-jillion times? And the jokes about MJ? There wasn’t even a moment of silence. Jamie Foxx’s Oscar Glow is officially DOA.
2) They overhyped the show – I thought that all the artists agreed to do a Michael song instead of their own.
3) WTF Keri? Outta breath much? Go back to Atlanta & sing to your brush, cuz you singing in a microphone ain’t cuttin it.
4) When you have 3 granpas like the O-Jays kick some major azz while the younginz just kept embarassing themselves, it’s a DAMN SHAME. Each generation is supposed to evolve, not DEVOLVE.
5) With so much talent in Black America, you can’t tell me that singers/musicians couldn’t do a freestyle jam session on stage covering MJ songs. They could’ve brung in Herbie Hancock, or hell, get Chaka Khan to sing! She was there!
6) Speaking of Chaka, why wasn’t Chaka asked to sing Got to be There?? Her version did MJs justice.
7) NOT ALL WAS LOST THOUGH, Ne-Yo deserves an A++++ for “Lady in my life” and Ciara gets a B for effort on “Heal the World” – Alicia & Wyclef represented wonderfully accepting the Humanitarian Award.
8) I’m a bit undecided on Beyonce’s performance. I was hoping for Sasha Fierce doing a Michael song, but instead we got a bit from her concert.
Anyways, I’m done with BET. They had the chance to redeem themselves, but they just proved even more how irrelevant they’ve become.

i didn’t even notice until around the end of the performance. i knew that at least one of the little girls on stage was wayne’s. that performance was horrible on sooo many levels! the exlpicative editing was hellacious, drake sitting down like wheel chair jimmy and the audience’s blank-stare-deer-in-the-head-lights reaction to the song in general was enough to let me know that the performance was by no means hot. something needs to be done with how that station portrays itself, not just to the black community but to all. you don’t see telemundo showing all this f*ckery and no i am not latina…oh yeah R.I.P. vibe and smh at the cover choice lol!

Bet Awards- I think many people forgot that, the show was the BET Awards and not the Michael Jackson Tribute Show. I think for a last mintute tribute, the network did okay. BET had 3 or 4 days to incorporate a last mintute tribute into the show. I dont understand why people thought, the show was going to be mind blowing.
Lil Wayne and Drake- The decision to bring his daughter and her friends on stage, maybe wasnt the best choice. However, can we attack this man over the choice he made with HIS child? Can we attack his morals and his parenting over this situation? If you have children, you would know their isn’t a such thing as a “perfect parent”. I really believe that we cant get upset over that situation because, this isn’t the only song in rotation that children shouldnt be singing and dancing. I just look at the unwise decision wayne made and am glad that it isn’t my child.
Jamie Foxx- I dont have alot to say on that subject, but I will say people grieve in different ways. Some where, in the world somebody enjoyed the skit, who was truly touched by M.J. We as humans grieve in different ways, some by laughter, crying, and etc.

I’m basing this off of what people are saying as I didn’t watch most of the show. I put the mute button on when I heard Drake was the finale, but glad I didn’t change the channel because Janet came out later. I’ll give Bet props for making an attempt with such little time. But like some other people are saying, these artists are professionals, they should be able to put something together since that’s what they get paid to do. Lil Wayne should have freestyled to an MJ track or Drake should have, that would have gotten more respect. There could have been so many ways to incorporate Michael into the theme of different performances, it’s not like it was a Mariah or Whitney tribute show where the only people who qualify are top singers. Michael had so many aspects to him, so I don’t see any excuses as to why things could have been a bit stronger.

Our expectations were really high and we, for the most part, were disappointed.
Chris Brown performing would most likely not have caused this much of an uproar, if any, since the majority of people were HOPING and WAITING for him to perform.

The whole world was watching that night, not just black folk, and BET did not deliver. The way the show was being hyped, we were expecting a lot more. I think that they shouldn’t have gone on about how the show was an MJ tribute (but still do what they did that night), then the world wouldn’t have been expecting so much. Our expectations were really high and we, for the most part, were disappointed.
Chris Brown performing would most likely not have caused this much of an uproar, if any, since the majority of people were HOPING and WAITING for him to perform.

Ewww, the dream….ewwww! That vibe cover is NOT sexy at all. They are definitely trying too hard…..put the king of pop on there.
As for that wayne performance, that shouldn’t have even been allowed….just a fother muckin mess! I am absolutely embarrassed. The only way that award show would have been great, was if they would have played MJ videos & performances for 3 hours straight (like the marathon they showed all weekend). Other than that, it had no chance! BET truly needs some new owners….

There is so much to say . Lets Begin with this blog which lead to the big picture.
What wayne did was very inappropriate . I was not shocked everyday on the New York hip radio station where atleast JR. High school and up listen on daily basis that song is played , birthday sex and the commercial hip hop market where non stop sexual or drug related song are played. Literally every single song has one of the two . Then there is 106 and park that plays the video to these song which connect even more vulgar images at a targeted teen audience. So yes what wayne did was inappropriate however given this inescapable paradox our collective energies can be focus holding these artist accountable if we truly don’t want to see a repeat of what happened on the Bet awards
2. Bet was bought by Viacom around 2006 give or take because I’m not exactly sure when. This is important at the same time many other tv networks were acquire by conglormates . There are about 4 monopolies that own all the networks in the country and even the world except for handful of independents. This is relevant because around this *** had a media innative with the agenda of spreading filter information and controlling the images that were sent out. With that we had our growth of 24 hours news that went from giving you objective facts to new that gave opinions with each station trying to convince that it was ours. We also began to receive more programming that either reflect the same values that they want promoted and dumbing down of commercials take 2001 and 2009 and you will see a major difference. This began in 2007 and run 2011. (this was also when BET fell) . There a psychological way to the programming that Im not going to get into and how it plays on race and even how black people seeee one another and how other white people see black. These is notwithstanding the lack of other race (I have point to the orginal post if you choose to read ). Now withstanding TV1 the only way for black people to see themselves interacting with one another collectively anytime they want during the day is on BET and you can see how that turns out. Whateven worse is the programming for the young black male with not postive indefication period.
3. 1 —-_>2 Which came first the chicken or the egg. Lil wayne ,106 n park , the parents with their kids in the car on hot 97 . the artist on the song. The Dj . Blaming the individual is not going to solve our problem as a group. We must SOLVE OUR PROBLEM AS A GROUP.
We as black people, refrase people of color have the upper when we put aside our difference and come together. They dont want us to recongize that black in america is the same as the brown skin man in Iraq. They play upon our differnces. Yet even for something as entertainment we can speak out loud and clear to send a message that we will not tolerate the disrepct of us as people. Recognize that these subtle but subliminal message that we enjoying on daily basis are poison when we take it with no filter.

I wonder how many people watched the show? There were probably many people that watched that normally wouldn’t watch because of MJ, and BET did a horrible job. That Wayne performance was filled with curse words with those kids on stage. BET don’t give a dame about quality they care about money. That wasn’t a tribute they gave MJ, it was a show that they threw a little of MJ in. Because to me, they didn’t change anything about the show. We basically saw the original show that was already planned so it was going to be a wack show to begin with. I hope MTV or somebody give this man a true tribute and put BET to shame.
I also hope that FOX news rip BET,Debra Lee, and Lil Waynef or the crap he did. I know FOX don’t care, but they like to critise the Hip Hop community and this is a Perfect opportunity to do so. The words to the song he was singing is ridiculous and wasn’t something that should’ve stated around children. Just about everything in that song was bleeped out and that goes to show you that the song shouldn’t have been performed in the first place.
Even if no major media outlet pick this up, we shouldn’t let these motherfuckers at BET get away with this bullshit. I don’t mind when black people stick together,but sometimes we can’t just go with the flow. BET should be held ACCOUNTABLE regardless of whom fault it was.
THE SHOW WAS HORRIBLE AND BET DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE KIDS AND DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE TITLE “BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION” BECAUSE THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE LOOKING OUT FOR YOU OR THEY CARE ABOUT YOU. So you know when you’re really embarrased for someone on tv and you have to change the channel for a second… I just couldn’t watch it the whole way through.
Also I am tired of BET hiding behind the last minute show excuse. NO you were putting this show together for months so performances like waynes should have been reviewed. They added an extra half an hour to the show as well as noticably shortening the award announcements so their excuse for doing a half assed job are just not cutting it.

It really brought tears to my eyes. I just really would like to know how they aloud that to happen. I did not watch the entire thing, as I was just embarrased for him. A lot of people watched that show because of the tribute to MJ. When I got to work that next day (mind you I work in corp america with of white people and other) several people watched the show, but I was faced with having to answer what the hell was Lil Wayne doing with kids on stage dancing to a horrible song like that one. I am just lost of words on the entire BET. BET should have to address the media about this.

I watched the awards ONLY because they said they were doing a tribute to MJ, in reality what they did was set Black Folks back 50 years. Yep, i made my feelings clear on facebook and Twitter as well…the BET awards sucked all together…the only thing i really liked was when Jay performed DOA and when Janet came out and made her speach followed by Jamie and Ne-yo’s performance of I’ll be there(very touching to me) but everyone thing else was whack besides the fucked up ass job BET did calling themselves editing…oh and I can’t 4get my girl Alicia Keys accepting her humantitarian award(real happy about that)…hell yeah…how u gonna hve 12 year old girls on the stage while u rappin about f**kin every girl in the world…lol…wow…that shit was jsut wrong on so many levels…but 2 each is own…I was really dissappointed because the BET awards is always the best award show…i don’t even think the Grammy’s tops it, but this year? I saw this performance, and ignoring the fact that there were kids on the stage and one of their dads was singing about f*cking them… It was just a horrible performance over all! Drake sat on a stool the whole time, boring, Lil Wayne stumbled his way around the stage slurring all his words… wtf? not a hot mess, just a MESS!
The whole show was badly done. Why was Jay-Z there? Why did Beyonce sing Ave Marie? (and I LOVE my girl Bey, but the BET awards is not the place to bust out an operetta) Why did Jamie Foxx, the host, perform 3 times and tell us about his upcoming tour 20+ times? Why did they have a 45 min tribute to the OJs when it was already stated that this would be a MJ tribute?? Ciara sinning a ballad? HEll NO! Keke Palmer sounded better a cappella
What they should have done was have each performer do a different MJ song through out the night. And then have them all come together and sing heal the world in a big finale! I’m a 22 year old student and I can think of that! It’s not that hard!
and P.S no Chris Brown should NOT have performed, he beat a girl up and y’all just want to forget that so quickly? No he’s still on punishment for at least the rest of 2009… I dunno, how about have Usher perform?? We all know how much Usher was influenced by MJ!
