Kanye and Weezy and whomever realized that this dude has absolutely no stage presence and is not a real rapper or a real singer, so they made a video that has nothing to do with him doing either!!!
Why is this dude so hyped up when it’s clear his skills are non-existant AND that when he seems to have something catchy going on it sounds like a rip off a weezy album!

that’s how i felt after watching this. I agree with everyone else…if i had to see ONE MORE PAIR OF BOUNCY BREAST IN SLOW MOTION *vomits*! at first i thought the concept was gonna be ok … think Drake was coming in the industry with the best team of people pushing him on … but Kanye just through that out the window.
Drake is pretty regular. This is like the first time I’ve ever seen a rapper have a demo video and we not even get the essence of him. I mean … there’s nothing wrong with being a regular ol joe … but in this industry .. you have to have some kinda UMPH to ya! he has no style, no stage presence and he comes off as one of those surburban kids who spent his time studying the mannerisms and such of Kanye and Wayne … songs are nice … but I see no originality. I’m sensing a hard comeback based on pure talent alone. Some folks just have IT in several forms, and he’s one of them. And although I doubt anyone supports his behavior or actions, folks are CREAMING for his talent as in how many people are pissy at Jay blocking his MJ tribute performance.

He thinks consistently telling the girls they are the best (like in the huddle) would drive them to do better. But they can’t..

I thought the video was pretty damn funny too! I’m surprised at all the negative comments about it. I lol’ed and I’m hoping that was the point. I’m also REALLY surprised with the complaints about the breasts/cleavage. We all know and have come to expect that women are objectified in music videos (particularly hip hop). Drake is a really talented artist with a lot of potential. I think a lot of the comments are negative and fail to give him credit for his work. Drake sounds a lot like WAYNE because he is a ghostwriter for WAYNE. But, that’s a good thing for DRAKE because he has a lot of creative talent that he can use for himself… he should just try to slow down the writing for Wayne. Listening to Drake’s album, he has a lot of originality and a lot of lyrical and vocal talent. I see a lot of variety and what he does with his music that I don’t see with other Rap artist (i.e. Little Bit, Brand New, Houstatlantavegas, Bria’s Interlude).
As far as the VIDEO, which is not his work, I feel Kanye screwed him over. The video is sooooo wack and I don’t understand the concept. Someone above me said some intellectual crap about how guys use “you’re the best” to get in the pants and this song/video makes fun of that…. uh, highly doubt they interpreted it that deeply and turned the video into that interpretation. But that’s just me. The song could have had a much more interesting, conceptual, and entertaining video. It did give me a few laughs, but not good enough laughs to like the video. This ish ain’t it….. Come harder Drake. This is disappointing. Don’t let Wayne give you a contract and then destroy your career and take your money like so many others… PLEASE.

Yes I agree this isn’t the best debut video for Drake, but there are some things to consider..
The video was made before Drake was signed to a deal so in terms of the budget, you get what you pay for. The way it works is the label pays you your advance money and you need to spend that on your videos yourself.. Hip hop videos are not cheap, so again you get what you pay for.
In regards to the concept, yes it was a played out concept they chose, but please show me one rapper who hasn’t done a played, boring, cliche video once in their careers.
I think people are being a bit over critical on this thing due to the hype associated with Drakes come up. This was obviously not his vision and can’t be taken as more of a grain of salt in terms of dudes future. If you put everything in perspective it isn’t the end of the world just a bit disappointing from a fans perspective. But to say that his career is over due to one video is obviously going a bit over board.

His performances lately have been painfully awkward and whenever he performs with other artists he always seems to fade into the background. (I remember the first time i saw replacement girl, i thought the video was more trey’s than his.) This video did absolutely nothing for him or this song. I’m not surprised by this crap. He was overhyped and people thought he was going to bring it. The video is wack and he is too. No shocker here. I hate the objectification of women in this video. I see what Kanye was trying to convey but the message is lost with all of the bouncing mess. This saddens me because I’m sure BET will show this video continuously.

I suppose I could be righteously indignant, but really, what’s the point? New day, same news. When the war of color politics is being waged in the context of exploitative music videos, you have to ask yourself, is this the figurative hill we want to die on? Seriously, the color of the females in the video doesn’t really amount to any substantive issue. It is totally beside the point. It’s like trying to exegete a Mother Goose nursery rhyme; there is little, if any, substance to sift through, much less any major conclusion to be reached.
The music industry is about the bottom line. What people philosophically desire is less important than what they will buy. Also, as for the Willie Lynch references, that document is pretty much agreed to be a relatively recent hoax. People were dazed and confused well before it ever surfaced. I truly believe if people are willing to tune out of the media blitz for a while, we’ll rediscover that definitions of beauty, self worth, artistry and excellence should be found amongst our fellow citizens, not streamed live from an idiot box. Instead, we wonder why an abused medium (television) doesn’t tell us what we want/need to hear. How did people ascertain those values before TV and radio were ubiquitous? Through actual human interaction. Let’s get back to low-tech interaction and cut out the dependency on media to feed our souls and minds.

He was wack on that show as well…getting Kanye to direct this video was a major mistake…I’m just tired of music as a whole right now…no originality…this video left me pissed like kanye’s video for “flashing lights”.
