Halle and her fam are gorgeous indeed, but there’s just one minor miniscule thing. Gabe rarely is seen holding Nahla and in that pic where she’s looking up at him, maybe it’s me but I don’t see the daughter- father chemistry.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it, I don’t see that bond between them. With Halle deinately but not him.

What are you talking about. There’s only one black family (the Smiths), and there’s one white-ish family. Halle’s family is not a black and a half family, it’s a white-ish family.
Halle is only and will always be HALF black no matter what nonsense she says. Here in London being half black is NOT considered the same as being a real black person; it is called being mixed race.
Also because her baby’s father is white, the child is 3/4 white and ONLY 1/4 black, the child would be considered by most people as white (, a very small amount of people might recognise her as mixed race but hardly any).
Halle doesn’t even look black let alone her (even less black than her) child - her child looks white. When the child is older she will look like any other pretty white chick - I know this because my friend is 1/4 Nigerian and 3/4 English and she looks white and is considered white by everyone including herself.
I’m not racist - I have no hate for mixed race people, but, and this is a big BUT; it’s about time people stop calling mixed race people black and bunching them in the same catogory as black people because they are NOT black. They are no more black than most Latinas, Asians and so forth. Straight up that is the truth.

As a fellow Londoner I have a lot of problems with what you’re saying. For one thing, if Halle self-identifies as black, you have no right to say otherwise. Mixed raced people are only now being recognised and accepted by the white majority both here and in the US- their experiences will often be similar, if not the same as us black folk. Of course all parts of a person should be acknowledged, but if your 1/4 Nigerian friend looked black, lived only with Nigerian people and been only around Nigerian culture, what would happen? It ain’t as simple as you’re making it seem.
P.S. Latinos are a mixture of all races. You get black latinos, white latinos, etc.

First of all, when I said mixed race people are no more black than Latinos, I never said Latinos as a whole, I said MOST Latinos - obviosly the black Latino ones weren’t included in that MOST. I know that Latino people come in all different types.
Also, you completely didn’t understand me on the whole Nigerian/English/quadroon friend I mentioned. I am not talking about culture at all. FACT:If my 1/4 Nigerian+3/4 English friend only lived with Nigerian people and, had only ever been around Nigerian culture, they would be Nigerian cultured yes, BUT, and here is the big BUT, race wise they would be mixed race, mostly white. Hardly black at all. ( Notice how I didn’t even address where you said “and looked black,” this is because it is highly unlikely that a person who is 1/4 black and 3/4 white would look black at all! That is a fact! They might look mediterranean/olive skinned caucasian.)

I do not doubt that Halle does indentify as black because culturally she probably is black African-American. Racially she is not and will never be black. This goes for all mixed-race people, regardless of where they are in the world. Regardless of their experiences.
As I said earlier culture and race are not the same thing. RACE is pre-determined before you are even born.
Whereas a person’s CULTURE stems from the environment they grew up in. Example: A white person can be black cultured but racially, they ARE and will always be white, and vice versa!
Culture wise anyone can be whatever they want; however most people will probably be the culture of the household the grew up in (Example:black people can even be Chinese cultured) - race on the other hand is written in stone. Race is final and people do not have a say, you are what ever race you were born as and will be till the day you die.
P.S. So you see Lita, it is as simple as I am making it seem and if you can’t see that then there is obviously something wrong with your brain.

And this is my problem- how do you define race? Admittedly its unlikely that the quarter Nigerian friend would look black, but it sure as hell isn’t impossible. The problem black people (specifically in Europe and America) have had is this ridulously narrow definition of ourselves according to colour. This pernicious ideology spread itself to several colonies, but naturally, people would have identified with nationality or culture (judging by your name, you, like me are a Nigerian, and would identify as such) and by default would have fit into a ‘race’. Considering the history of most blacks (and whites) in the US, you may want to say that noone is black. That Beyonce isn’t black because she’s part creole, that Keisha Cole isn’t black etc etc. Similarly none is white (consider Anatole Broyard). Race is basically an arbitrary distinction based on phenotype and recent ancestry and so completely flawed.
One more note: for political reasons I am proud to be black and understand and support the black struggle. My problem, is there should never have been an subjugation based on race in the first place.

As for what you were saying about the one drop rule - that is so outdated. That rule was created by racist white American people way back when to keep everybody who wasn’t completely like them surpressed in some way shape or form. The rule is outdated, ignorant and insulting - it infers that blackness takes precedence over any other race in a person. Whilst not congratulating the social hardships that have occured in South Africa, one must appreciate how (not why, but how) they define their people with truth and clear eyes: WHITE, BLACK, AND COLOURED!!!
Lita, from what you wrote in your reply it seems that you do not read my replies in their entirety - you just pick parts here and there so that you can disagree and make sense at the same time because you know that if you were to take my whole text into account when replying you would not be able to disagree. I did not say that my 1/4 Nigerian could not look black, I said it was very unlikely.
Also the definition I gave of race was not at all based on skin colour - if you had read my post properly you would know this.
RACE (black - from reading this definition you can deduce how to define other races not just black):If both your parents are black (BOTH) you are black. If one of your parents is black and the other is NOT BLACK - you are NOT BLACK, you are mixed race/coloured.
FYI Beyonce is not black because her mother isn’t - Beyonce is mixed race/coloured. Yes, she is part black but she is also other things too (European). It is irritating that people think blackness takes precedence over every other race in a person - that is such an outdated silly way of thinking! (If Halle Berry can be called ‘black woman’ then she can be called ‘white woman’, because she is just as much white as she is black and blackness DOES NOT take precedence over every other race in a person!) As for Anatole Broyard - no one said he was white. He didn’t even say he was white so what are you on about he is creole/coloured/mixed race - chose your adjective as you feel fit. As for keyshia Cole, I have no idea what she because I don’t know what race her biological father is and by the sounds of it neither does her mother Frankie.

Not only is your staement wrong but you have used the 3 different words:nationality; culture; and race as if they have the same meaning. They do not.
You are correct in saying that I am Nigerian and I do identify as such - culturally I am Nigerian. You said that because of this by default I would fit into a ‘race’. You are completely wrong in saying this. Just because a person identifies with a certain culture or is a certain nationality that is nothing to do with their race. Just like a feral child is still human - a white person raised in a predominately black country (i.e. Nigeria) is still white.
Culture wise I am Nigerian - race wise you’d probably think that I’m black from knowing that I identify as Nigerian but, I’m not BLACK and will never be. I’m mixed race.
To finish this up I will say Lita, a person can identify themselves as whatever culture they choose; race-wise they have no choice - they are what they are depending on the race of their parents. And no I did not base race definition on what a person looks like. On another note, a reason that people should not bunch in mixed race people in the same catogory as black people is because; mixed race poeple are used to represent black people because they look black enough but not too black, and then unrealistic physical expectations are placed upon REAL black people.
