Well it was only a matter of time. We said here many times that Wendy Williams‘ radio career would be coming to an end soon as our sources have been whispering it in our ear for 6 months now. Radio Gossip Maven Wendy Williams has official announced today that she is leaving her home base at WBLS in NY and ending her long term radio career. The number of radio stations carrying the Wendy Williams show has dwindled over the years to a handful–mainly thanks to suspensions, behind the scenes drama, and her not curbing her appetite for saying it like it is.
The WW staff and sidekick Charlemagne were all fired a few months ago. Wendy has now moved on to the world of television and is on Fox and BET 5 days a week with the Wendy Williams show. And according to the press release, she wants to devote 100% of her attention to her new tv career.

New York, July 22, 2009 — Executives from WBLS and representatives for Wendy Williams today jointly announced Ms. Williams plans to leave her daily radio show at month’s end to dedicate herself full time to THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW, a nationally syndicated talker which launched July 13th. Ms. Williams, who has been a fixture on WBLS since 2002, has spent more than two decades on the air winning over fans and was recently nominated as a potential inductee to the National Radio Hall of Fame. Her radio show has consistently rated as one of the highest rated programs on the station.
“We are saddened to lose one of our most popular personalities,” noted Deon Levingston, Vice President and General Manager of WBLS. “But we understand what it requires to put a live show on television each and every day and wish Wendy all the best in this new venture.”
“I want to tell all of my fans that after July 31st, I will no longer be doing a show with WBLS,” Williams said. “I really was blessed to have a broadcast home in NY on radio for the past 7 years and I want to thank everyone who supported me. I have one of the best jobs in the world, making a difference in the lives of my fans made all the difference to me and I look forward to doing the same thing in my new role as a TV host. My hope is that you will do your best to find me on your remote so I can continue to entertain and inform you each and every day.”

Her radio show was better than the tv show (it sucks and she’s mistaken if she believes she will attract celebrities interested in being on the couch with her) She’s made too many enemies and celebrities on the A, B & C list will avoid her like the plague in hopes of completely destroying her media career. Hopefully Wendy’s just going for the big pay day because she and her husband my wind up paying a lot of money to former assistant and show producer (Nicole) for the alledged sexual harrasment lawsuit. LOL – I co sign w/Benny – her show needs to kick rocks. She seems all over the place, can’t get her “notes, LOL” together, then they added some odd, random, unpolished (looking) white dude to assist her (which she doesn’t seem too pleased about) and she keeps telling the audience to “sit down” LOL – I can only watch the first 15 mins of it. Who really want to see her prep food and interview while making drinks 10 AM? A solid, candid, true, detailed interview is delivered best when a open forum is done with less distraction. Wendy has good whit, but her translation on screen is just messy probably just like how she like to get peened up from Kev hehehehehe. Unless retooling the show takes place soon, I’d be surprised if this show lasts.
Pass given for an additional two weeks to get her “feet” wet.

In my opinion Wendy’s show is horrible. She had found her niche with radio, she should’ve stayed. Seems like she burned all her bridges with the celebs, all of her guests so far have been subpar at best.

You only have to see her if you choose to turn to the damn channel and watch…same thing goes for listening to her on the radio…if her voice is so bad, why do you listen?
Anyhoo, Wendy is about her business when it comes to getting that money so I respect her hustle. There are a few things that she should change on the show, but it’s still new so in time it will come together…until then, I will continue to watch.

I remember not liking her because of WHAT I heard. Then I listened to her show and got to understand her. She is no Howard Stern. She is not burning any bridges that she cannnot mend. If celebs take her seriously then they are the ones with the problem.
I wish her all the best with her new show. I like it because it’s not so cookie cutter. Yes, it’s a bit all over the place but it’s par for the course. If Rachel can cook at ten, Kathy-Lee and Koba can drink alchohol at ten, and TMZ can have tv spot, then there is nothing wrong with Wendy doing it.

I don’t like the TV show as much as the radio show. Hopefully they will make some tweaks along the way. Wendy’s show is VERY highly rated. I knew it would be big when they moved the 10 pm news to 11 for the show!
She can’t be as free as on the radio to satisfy daytime audiences. I’d love to see her on a late-night slot!
