Any woman that would lay on her back and have two children with a man that wont even put a ring on your finger is a waste of time. You can try to play house all day long, but in reality Monica is another single mother. Her man can get up and leave anytime, he has no legal obligation to her. I love how she plays the rolemodel, but she’s not a great one. My mother told me from the time that I was a little girl to NEVER settle for less. She also told me that times are changing and people don’t respect marriage anymore, especially the women who just pop out babies with no rings. You can complain that marriage doesn’t mean you’re child will grow up healthy and happy, but the research and personal experience shows that it does. I still love Monica though, because she’s at least attempts to carry herself in a classy manner. The only problem is that she ghetto dressed up in nice clothing. so tats are ghetto now? b/c a lot of people who have never stepped foot in or near a ghetto have tats. monica is who she is. she has never claimed to be anyone else. no she is not married but so what. i was married and waited 4 years to have a kid and still ended up divorced and a single mom. but my kid sees both of her parents and will be healthy and happy. and i still say that growing up in a 2 parent household with parents who never speak or fight all of the time is far worse on a kid than living with just one healthy and happy parent. so if these 2 can still be togther and raisng their kids w/o that piece of paper then so be it. people kill me with that getting married crap. marriage isn’t for everyone. you don’t have to be married to be a good mother or father.

Marriage is more then a piece of paper. If it’s just a piece of paper why do so many people get married. Marriage establishes social norms within our children. It shows our children how men and women function in healthy relationships. You know why most black men in jail came from single parent homes, because they had no role models to teach them wrong from right. Marriage doesn’t make anything better if both people can not get along, but marriage does offer a stable environment for your child. Humans are not perfect. so marriage will never be perfect. My parents divorced when I was 12 years old, yeah it was painful, but at least I had two active parents in my life. My father was always involved in my life, so I would except the same from my husband, and the same theory applies to a boy. I remeber in highschool most of the girls that got pregnant ame from single parent homes, they would scream down the hall way how they didn’t need no nigga! that’s because they watched their mother struggle and thought it was okay to birth babies with no fathers.
On tramp stamps, too many tats does look classless, especially when they are all extra big. I have one on my back, but it’s not that big.

You’re kind of delusional. Marriage doesn’t mean a man won’t leave you, won’t have another family or chick on the side, or will be a postive force in your life. I want some studies to focus on all the people like yourself so hellbent on upholding the institution of marriage that adultery, abuse and addictions are overlooked and analyze that psychological affect on children or spousal well being. Studies and statistics are numbers that can always be skewed one way or another based on the population and desired result.
She may be a “single” mother but so are a lot of married women bearing the brunt of child care while their husbands play dad on rare occassions if at all. At the end of the day no man or woman should procreate unless they are willing to bear the full responsibility of child case bec/ the ideal is not always guaranteed even if you do it the “right way”.

Alot of folks do not want to realize that their style of living is Bibicially or morally wrong. They want to live out what they see on t.v. or like their friends down the street. The african american society is sad as a whole. You barely ever hear of a black couple getting married. That is why our community struggle as a whole. Alot of these people, do not want to lose their benefits as well. I have a gang of cousins who have been in relationships for 6 years or more. The guy live with them and their kids. But, they will not get married because their foodstamps, daycare, and section 8 will get cut off. If a man can not support you and yours kids, you should not be with him. Whether people believe it are not, I will say it again!! THE BIBLE NEVER CHANGES, BUT WE DO! You are not suppose to have children outside of marriage. If you do repent and close your legs. Do not go around having 3 and 4 babydaddys and not get married. This is just sad and a poor excuse of a parent. What is this teaching your kids, mommy or daddy is insecure??? I’m just keeping it real. My mother did not raise any fools!
P.S. Before you start on the spelling or me supporting myself. I am a college graduate and could care less if this crap is spelled wrong. lol I can also support myself, if my husband decides to leave. If you are a single parent, who have not been married, just try to encourage your child to be married, because life can be alot easier with two incomes and love from both parents.

I agree. Sperm banks are still in business…there are single successful women (even men) AND gay couples who want children…but there are some people who feel none of them need to have them…if it’s not a man and a woman who are married it’s wrong and detrimental. Not all marriages work what’s important is that both parents remain active in their child’s life. Not every relationship is traditional but it doesn’t make it shit.

I partially agree with both sides of this arguement. Monica is hood, but so what! She’s not asking for your support or permission to be who she is. As far as marriage, I won’t say it’s not for everyone just not right for every situation. We all know what statistics say about 2 parent households but children can end up just as damaged in one. As far as judgement and living by God’s word, we all fall short and will continue to do so.
