So Omarion spoke to the folks over at Boombox about the devilish controversy going on in the industry right now. If you recall, singer Tiffany Evans put Rihanna on blast about joining in the dark and devil worshiping behavior (after hearing Rih’s new song “Russian Roulette”) that is well known to happen in the industry. Now Omarion is chiming in about how real that dark side and celebrity involvement:
“I don’t personally know Rihanna’s beliefs but I think there’s a very dark and very sinister part of the entertainment business and I think it’s very visible,” he said. “This is something that a lot of people don’t look at [but for example] Michael Jackson used to be a Jehovah’s Witness and I remember hearing that he wanted to separate from the religion — and this was during the time that he was doing ‘Thriller’ [which ended up being] his biggest album.”
“Fast forward to now,” Omarion continued, “[and] it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The[entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation.
“I don’t know if Rihanna [has fallen victim to those pressures]. I’ve never really heard her speak about it,” he said. “I hope that she doesn’t believe in that stuff and I don’t think that she does, but I don’t know. It’s not just been a Rihanna thing, [there's has been religious speculation] about a lot of artists.”

If more people were able to truly understand symbols and truly interpret the lyrics written for these pop stars, they would see another element within the music that tries to flip the moral compass of the listener. It figures then that those artists who are willing to go along with the plan, or that are simply gullible enough not to see the agendas of those around them, would be the most popular artists in the industry simply for the fact that they can sing/rap/act to the satisfaction of their audience and that they won’t say, do or act in any way contrary to the accepted standard of propaganda-Isn’t that what popular art is anyway? So let me understand some of you. You’re discrediting what Omarion is saying because you categorize him as a “z lister” or because he isn’t as big as your favorite star? Is this how you decide what information to process? I think he was very objective in his statement and respectful of Rihanna. I’m not sure about what’s going on in the industry but I will say think about other forms of music. People listen to gospel as “inspirational” music, some athletes listen to “hype” music before a game to get amped up, “baby-making” music got it’s name because it gets people in the mood for making love, on the History channels “Gangland” series gangsters mentions they listened to hard core rap to hype themselves up to murder their enemies, and the most respectful young women will drop it like a stripper on the dance floor when “their song” comes on. Music can not CONTROL people’s actions but it sure can have an INFLUENCE!!! And a lot of times that influence is so subtle that people ignore it and write it off. That is the issue that I have with these stories from the music industry. It’s not about what/who Rihanna or whoever worships, it’s about the larger affect of the music. Before I discredit anything, I check it out for myself and would hope you all have enough common sense to do the same yourself.

I am amazed at how offended some people are getting over Omarion’s comments. He is in the industry so he has undoubtedly seen the things that he is talking about first hand. After seeing how some of you post comments to discredit his statements, without even attempting to understand what he is saying, makes me truly afraid for the future of my people. Omarion is by no means “a broke artist” maybe he just didn’t want to continue to go along with program. Everybody doesn’t worship money and fame. Dave Chappell walked away from a 50 million dollar deal and took a vacation in Africa. What would make someone turn down that kind of money? Integrity. He would not sell his soul for any amount of money. Dave Chappelle even refers to dark forces in Hollywood. I can’t believe that some of you say it’s just music. It’s just music that our children have piped into their impressionable minds almost 24/7. It’s not just the music: it’s advertisements, movies, video games, the stuff that we eat (disguised as food), etc. A lot of these things are designed to purposely mislead and keep you asleep. People please wake up and pay attention. Advertising executives are payed millions to create commercials and advertisements that make you think that you need or have a desire for their products, when in actuality you don’t. It’s the same concept. Try to be critical thinkers instead of sheep. Just because something seems far fetched, don’t just dismiss it as crazy or nonsense. I feel like people are slowly being dumbed-downed. Murder, suicide, and so many other things are at an all time high. Music has an effect on people’s moods and brain waves- studies have been done. “It’s just music” that teaches our little girls to be money-hungry whores and our young men to do the same. Even some of the cartoons have hidden messages.

After reading all of these comments I find it disappointing that some people are quick to dismiss Omarion because he is not this huge, mega superstar. I think that he made some valid points…there are many dark aspects to the music industry and if you do enough research there are other artists that have spoken out about this as well. I don’t think that every successful artist in the industry has “sold their soul to the devil” BUT I do think that people should be more mindful of the kind music that is being put out there. Before you react just really think about it…..Omarion was not bad mouthing or dissing Rihanna, he was just speaking his truth, and considering that he is in the music industry why would he lie????
