She hit up the theater to see a performance of Swan Lake. She sat in the crowd instead of in the VIP section. Looks like a cute dress.
On the music front:
MTV will exclusively world premiere Beyonce’s music video for “Video Phone” (this version ft. Lady Gaga) on-air and online on Thursday, November 5. It’s going to be blasted in the US on MTV and MTV.com at 5:30 PM/EST while MTV channels worldwide will premiere the music video after the MTV Europe Music Awards from Berlin.

Whoooo child stop! I did not mean royalty in the literal sense that you have put it. Russia is not like America – it has hierarchies. Those at the top are ‘the royalty’.
The last official royalty in Russia belonged to the Czars and not the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were a breakaway branch of the Mensheviks and were led by Vladimir Lenin. The Romanovs were the last family and as u might know, they were executed by the Bolsheviks. That was the end of mornachy in Russia.

Russia is also pretty different from other countries in Europe too that formerly had monarchies. The mentality about hierarchy has completely been destroyed during communism. One of my clients came from Russia about 4 years ago and she has a Art History degree from Uni. in Moscow.

I think communism is a buzzword that Henry Kissinger utilised very well to scare Americans. From what I know, there is no country that truly pulled off communism – not even China even if the ruling party is called the Chinese Communist Party. It is pretty evident that all these societies utilise laissez faire. Having said that, the point I was making was that there is a hierarchy of respect (and indeed power) and you will have to be a somebody IN RUSSIA to be in certain spaces – Ballet is a big huge to do in Russia. If you think the idea of hierarchy is dead then why is Putin still running the country while fronting Medvedev?
You lost me on the degree though. I didn’t understand your point. Russians work hard and are brainiacs. A majority of Russians have degrees.

Communism is not a buzzword. It is a fact. I live in the US now but I am not american and did not grow up here. I have lived in quite a few countries as a teenager and for Uni., so I am not speaking from the viewpoint of someone who is terrified by the C word. Communism in its purest form is difficult for humans to capture. We can see Cuba struggling, and until they evolve to a socialist state like China has done they will continue to have major issues outside of the embargo. Russia historically a feudal society has a lot of struggles trying to imitate the capitalist mentality. Hence it will remain quasi commie/socailist. The ruling elite in Russia is primarily former KGB and military people, who were formerely part of the peasantry. Ballet has always important in their culture and is a source of pride for all classes in Russia.

Having studied in Russia and being an International studies scholar I am simply stating that Henry Kissinger MADE IT a buzzword. He is a realist – he has to scare someone. No society was/is ever truly communist, socialist or capitalist. We are all mixed societies – other more jarring than the others. Even America is not a fully capitalist country. It has social welfare and police services etc so on a good day we could call it quasi socialist. Government steps in when the free market grinds to a halt. That is what I am stating. I do not claim to know all, but knowing what I know now, things are not what they seem all the time and governments must always peddle propaganda about other countries. I always marvel at the way people look at Cuba as if it is the pits but it has managed to survive with all the embargoes thrown at it. Has it been great, no..did they compromise their views no. That is the real victory. Ok I am getting carried away. Thank you for the conversation – I really did enjoy it – seriously. Its a breath of fresh air.

Sorry one last comment lol. Do not get me wrong, I do not see Cuba as the pits at all. I think if given a chance they could have been a prime example of the success of communism. But alas this would in some people’s eyes undermine capitalism and show that it is not all that it is cracked up to be. Trust I do know how governments undermine and destabilize each other. It is true they did not compromise however they had to evolve like China did maybe??? I guess socialism as seen in countries like Sweden is the closest we will come to a utopian state. lol
