Another Peek At Rihanna’s 20/20 Interview+Chris’ Camp Blasts Rihanna On Twitter
Here’s another 5 minute sneak peek of Rihanna’s interview on “20/20″ tonight.
Basically she talks about that night in question–catching Chris in a lie after finding a text message, things “getting ugly” when she wouldn’t stop questioning him, and how he had a soul-less look in his eyes while he beat her:
“It wasn’t the same person that says I love you. It was not those… eyes,” she told Sawyer in an exclusive interview. “He had … no soul in his eyes. Just blank. …He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him.”
The February 2009 assault left the 21-year-old battered and bruised, and Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, community labor, and one year of domestic-violence counseling.
“All I kept thinking all the time: When is it going to stop? When it is going to stop?” she said.

You know what, he truly did a number on Rihanna and she deserves to tell her story, WHENEVER she chooses.
However, if Chris’ camp is really serious about the truth being hidden, why don’t they let him tell HIS FULL STORY to the press? If he feels like he’s being thrown under the bus then reveal the hidden secrets. Rihanna’s people are obviously encouraging her to discuss what happened.
No one knows the full story- all the public knows is that RiRi’s face was battered by the guy she loved. The fact that their issues built up and resulted in violence is the most important piece of the story, so of course majority of the population will ride with her- abuse is serious.
I’m sure she did some foul things throughout the course of the relationship- we all do. But if there is some huge, looming secret that Chris is holding to protect Rihanna -like his people claim- he’s doing himself a disservice.
Either he sheds light on whatever lies she’s supposedly telling, or he reigns in his people and tells them to stop acting a fool on twitter.

As a woman I do believe that there are reasons for a man to put his hands on a female. If you hit someone expect to get hit back. I have seen a number of situations growing up where women will start a fight, be brutal to a guy because she knows he wont fight back. If he loses control she then plays victim. Lets not be naive and act like that does not happen alot. I suspect something more was going on in that car then what is told….the biting by a man is not common unless he has no recourse to get someone off them. Why would he need to bite when he is obviously able to knuckle up??

The dancers are probably talking about the history of their tumultuous relationship which she herself hinted about …. she said the more they became in love it became an obsession and she also said that they became dangerous for each …. I kinda find it hard to believe that Chris beat her that badly just cuz she wouldn’t let something go. He’s already admitted and apologized for his part. He was sentenced and serving it out.
She declined to press charges and testify in the only proper forum for a victim to speak out, and recieve justice, court.

I wish people would think rationally instead of letting their emotional reactions rule. Think about the whole situation and all the actual FACTS before jumping to idiotic and illogical conclusions. The only direct evidence we have as to what happened that night is the photo, showing her battered, and the cell phone records, showing she called her assistants, and the call from Chris to Rihanna’s assistant a few days later. That evidence points to her being beaten by him, nothing else. We also have circumstantial evidence: (1) the police report that recited her version of events, (2) him pleading guilty to assault, (3) his public apologies (coming from the horse’s mouth), and (4) the snippets of her interviews (again, coming from the horse’s mouth). ALL of this evidence points to a brutal assault on her. We have NO evidence, direct or circumstantial, that suggests she hit him first. No photos of him being bruised, no police report of his saying she hit him first (which, I’m sure, could have been “leaked” if he really wanted to), and no statements from EITHER of them that she hit him first. Thus, I don’t understand why people are going hard on the “she hit him first” theory. There is no evidence to support that, except vague statements from people on Chris’ payroll. Use your brains people.

Two final points:
(1) If people would listen and process information before posting nonsense, they would realize after this second part of the interview that she was not trying to play completely innocent. The woman said they both became dangerous for each other equally. It’s no secret they had a tumultuous relationship.
(2) People are blaming her, and somehow questioning her motives, for speaking out on what happened right around the time of her album dropping. It isn’t up to us to decide if/when she speaks about it. In my eyes, I applaud her for controlling when she speaks about it. In promoting an album, people do interviews. Perhaps she wanted to tell the story so she wouldn’t constantly be asked about it during her promo (that remains to be seen). Who are we to judge when a victim of a violent assault speaks about the incident? Should she refuse to talk about it ever? Then people would probably blame her for that. Finally, so what if she wants to spin it to her advantage? Does that change the fact that it happened? Does it somehow make it less likely that it happened? NO. Let the woman make her money. CB has certainly been trying to repair his image (website apology, Larry King, posting the video montage, declaring his love for her etc), and all the while she stayed silent. So let her do her thing and make her money.

I think the reason Chris Brown failed to comment on the details of the night was because it woul display how violent he became. At least she is giving details. Also since this case went to court I don’t think she can blantantly lie about the events of the night, aren’t there penalties for that?

Oooo boy. From the very beginning of it all I felt that Rihanna “took the first lick” and I still do. There is no excuse for violence but I believe that if you start something then you better be able to finish it. I keep hearing that she came after him with her stilletto while he was driving. Whether Rihanna put her hand on Chris numerous times or not, that DOES NOT excuse the fact that her face was battered!!!!!!! Just from glancing at the picture, you can clearly see that CB repeatedly punched Rihanna in the face! Nothing should lead to that! It wasn’t like he hit her once and made a mistake. I agree! I am so tired of RiRi. I have worked with women in domestic violence situations. Although she says it occurred 8 or 9 times, I don’t believe it because she doesn’t speak like someone who was constantly abused. I think she is trying to ruin him and it is very sad. Maybe since the DA was building a case against CB, neither one of them could speak on it until now. Having said that, no one can push you to do something you don’t want to. How you react is your choice. We were not in the car, so we really don’t know what happened. However, a picture is worth so much more than what someone says. I completely agree with you, I commend the woman (even though I am not a fan of Rhianna at all-her voice is irritating to me) but to expose your personal life and this situation to the world is hard enough. Anyone suggesting that, if there really are skeletons that Chris has been keeping under lock and key for Rihanna’s sake, that he air them out is a damn fool. As a woman, I am worried about the way that many people are dismissing her history of abuse against Chris. I am not a Chris fan neither am I a RHianna fan. But it’s offensive that she has admitted to slapping him and verbally abusing him in the past, but there is no accountability on her behalf. Having said that, she should not have been beaten like an animal. She is definetly a victim, but she should NOT be allowed to ignore that she is also an abuser. YOU CAN NOT PUT your hands on someone. Chris was in love and he continued to allow her to yell, scream and beat him. So he is also a victim.She has admitted to being violent not just with him. She assaulted her brother with a glass bottle and smashed him in the face. I find it insulting now, that when someone returns the violence she plays the innocent victim. As I said, she is a victim but she is not innocent. This plays into the role of women being inferior by her engaging in abusive behavior but running and hiding under the fact that she is a women when it gets rough. No one should hit and alhough Chris is a man and can certainly do more physical harm, who is to say her emotional abuse was any worse than his. NO HITTING.

If someone’s mother, sister, daughter was abused they would be defending them to no end. Abuse is no laughing matter. The 21 page probation and sentencing report (which is available online), which both parties agreed to, said that there was a verbal altercation after Rihanna found the text message, and Rihanna slammed her fists into the dashboard out of anger. Then, Chris stopped the car and tried to force her out. When he could not, because she had her seatbelt on, that’s when he started to hit her. Anything physical against him after that point was self defense (read the police statement from that night, and the consistent probation report from months later.)
The probation report also talks about 2 other previous incidents. One in which they were verbally fighting, then she slapped him, and he shoved her against a wall in retaliation. (I stand corrected that she never hit him before, although it still stands that she never hit him first on that night).
The fact is, she admits that they had a volatile relationship, and they were both dangerous for each other. She is not playing innocent, because she admits that in their relationship as a whole, they weren’t good for each other. However, that is no excuse for what went down that night, the details of which are contained plain as day in both the police report AND the probation report. ALSO, it should be noted that CB had the opportunity to make statements to be included in the probation report, and he made no contradictory statements to what Rihanna said.

First, this is getting messy. It always does when DV is in the public eye (see Tina and Ike.. Ike still denied that stuff). I advice folks to stay out of it. Yes, they have put it out there to be judged, but we need to take a step back because ish is emotional.

I completely cosign as a survivor of domestic abuse, I am thankful I am not going through what Rhianna is going through. My family, friends and co-workers were very supportive and helped me get out of the relationship. I am glad someone is speaking up…sometimes young love can be dangerous when you have people who don’t know how to control their emotions…I don’t hit men, so I don’t agree with her being physical with him…but he is big and strong enough to restrain her if she did ever put her hands on him. My mind is boggled at how people are justifying a man laying his hands on a women. Where does this stem from? The lack of black fathers in our homes or hip-hop culture continually denigrating black females? NO MAN HAS THE RIGHT TO LAY HIS HANDS ON YOU.
Look at Lionel Richie, his wife caught him cheating and assaulted him with a frying pan, he did not lay his hands on her. The man was the butt of many jokes, but his career remains intact.

Look at the numbers…Rhianna has sold WAY more albums than Chris-even before he came along. JAY-Z on the original Umbrella track is what made Rhianna blow up. And Umbrella (the Jay-Z version) is one of the top 100 singles of all time because it literally sold that much. I am really worried about the state of our community and its future after reading some of the hateful comments on this board. From the time I came into this world, my life had already been affected by domestic violence. My grandmother lost her battle with cancer at the age of 44 when my mother was 19 years old, 6 years before I was born. My mother grew up watching my grandfather beat her whenever he was drunk and something set him off, even tried to beat her on her deathbed in the hospital. He cared so little about his family, that he let his six kids be separated in foster homes for two years when my grandmother was going through chemo. He outlived her so that he could continue to verbally and physically abuse his children. Growing up, I always thought that had my grandfather not beat the crap out of my grandmother whenever she did something that he felt deserved a beating, that perhaps she would have been able to fight the cancer that killed her. I mean, it’s must have been hard to find something to live for if the person that vowed to love you and care for you beats you on an almost daily basis.
As a black woman, to hear other black women excuse a man beating on a woman breaks my heart, because to me, it says that we don’t support and protect each other. And to think that there is ever a justifiable reason to beat someone the way Rihanna was beaten? You might as well say the slave-owner were justified in beating slaves, perhaps the slaves were talking smack? Maybe the slave looked at the slave-owner the wrong way, so that slave deserved to get strung up.
Domestic violence is not excusable, Chris Brown said himself there is no excuse for what he did. So why are people making excuses for him? Because it is easier to make up stories about a traumatic event because then a person does not have to confront to make it seem like it doesn’t involve you. That’s why so many black families are messed up, no one cares when they see something wrong anymore. If you just blame the victim, and then you never had to do anything to help the victim or help anyone from becoming a victim. Instead, focus on the whole “stop snitchin” and forget that this is black on black crime. Keep it in the community so we can continue to ignore it like every other problem we have, right? Keep it quite. Don’t discuss it. That way the blood will be on everyone in the communities hands, rather than the perpetrator.
Well, I myself am glad that I snitched on my boyfriend when he physically abused me. How can I teach my son to stand up for what’s right, if I don’t stand up for myself? Because Lord knows, after reading how some of you here feel about DV, if I waited for some of the people on this board to wake up and stand up to support someone in trouble, to stand up for me, I’d still be waiting after I’m in my grave.

Look, had psycho Brown immediately taken responsibility for his actions back on Feb 8 and say what happened to cause him to behave that way. Then asked his fans for forgiveness. We are all human and I think most people would have been willing to give him another chance. At that time, I know I was willing to do this.

First I want to say that most people that have commented on this issue seem to have good common sense. With that being said, we need to take this incident and teach BOTH of our sons and daughters that violence is NEVER the answer. We will never know what really happened in their relationship, all we know is what happened that night. Chris Brown was wrong for what he did, he has acknowledge it and apologized for it. It is not up to us to forgive him it is up to Rihanna, and if she has done so the rest of us need to move on.
There are a lot of scenerios that have been discussed on this blog and I agree with most of them. Society doesnt have any sympathy for a man that hits a woman. I think we need to stop making these blanket statements about violence and just say that it is never okay to put your hands on anybody. I’m sure that there are some men who are being abused by their wives or girlfriends that dont leave the relationship for the same reason many women who are abused dont leave. My point is this issue can go both ways and both parties are wrong.
I respect Chris Brown because he admitted to what he did and because of respect for Rihanna he didnt speak on what she did to him because in most people eyes that wouldn’t matter because of what happened on that night in February. As for Rihanna, I agree that she has the right to tell her story whenever she is ready but for nine months we have seen her go on with her life like nothings ever happen. Then when her album is about to come out in a few weeks she wants to do an interview about that night. Then the fact that they are going to air the video for Russian Roulet on 20/20 after the interview does take some credibility from her. I think it is in poor taste to connect the two.

This “Soap Opera” is really starting to take on a childish tone. I beleive Rihanna’s people put her up to this mess. I know we now live in the over-the-top-world of DRAMA but this is ridiculous.
Just watching and reading how this is being played out, only confirms my feels that these two KIDS did not need to be in each other company. They both need to go away and STOP talking about this, already. They both need to get their heads right. They are both young and to allow this to go on and on endlessly is only benefitting the drama loving blogs and audience out there.

I hope Rihanna gives very graphic details about the abuse she suffered at the hands of psycho Brown. This is very important for the victim to come to terms with what happened to her. It is also important for the abuser to hear it also.

Truth is Chris fessed up to what he did. He admitted that he beat her. His supporters can say what they will, but the truth is he ADMITTED that he did beat the girl, he did do it. Although these are just snippits of the interview, I have to blame Diane and ABC for some of this madness. Notice how Rihanna says “Things escalated to the point where he got physical with me…” Diane never asked how did things esclate? Was there just a lot of shouting? Did he just hit you out the blue? Or did you hit first? Rihanna admitted she was angry and would not let it go, but Diane did not ask her to go into detail. She just let her off the hook. Also I am interested to see if Diane will bring up the court documents that state that Rihanna had hit Chris previously AND hitting her own brother. Hmmmm just curious if she’s going to bring those things up or allow Rihanna to basically come on and paint this picture of innocence…

Its really not about who has the hardest punch. The problem is neither one of them had the good sense to walk away from a toxic relationship. One of my co-workers was dating a man from my homeland–Jamaica—and she told me she thought he was cheating. I told her to just pay attention and if she catches him in lies, then he probably is cheating. so the next week after she told me this, she comes to work with stitches in her forehead. She privately told me that she followed him and caught him going to another woman’s house and when she approached him as he walked to the doorway, he punched he to the ground. Sorry to say but he was illegal so calling the police would do no good.

Rihanna and Chris are both African American kids. What message are we sending them when we are taking sides. Some want Chris in jail and his career ruined. While others are saying not so nice things about Rihanna. These two kids are our future generation.
I remembered the media using Chris’s parent’s abusive situation as grounds that he too is abusive. Such is not always the case. Some young men who come from very abusive environments, end up with very abusive girlfriends and wives. Sadly, they try so hard not to be like their fathers that they end up being like their fathers when that woman pushes them over the edge. They are never really taught that they can walk away and it won’t make them punks or boitches. Instead, they will be ridiculed and made fun of if they admit to being abused. Especially in the black community; where it’s taboo for a man to show any level of weakness…SMH Yet, we want our men to be MEN.
It does appear that both of these kids came from abusive backgrounds. There is no justifying what he did and there is no defending what she did. We can sit and paint Rihanna as a poster child for DV and Chris as a poster child for abusive men, it still won’t change the fact that they were both wrong and they both need some therapy. If Chris is holding on to a woman who is verbally, mentally, and physically abusing him and confusing her actions for love then he does need help. If Rihanna feels it’s okay to make her point to Chris by baggering him and hitting him when he does not see things her way, then she too needs some help. They both have abusive tendencies. One is a Sadist and the other a Masochist respectively.

I am not even going to lie—I won’t mess with a west indian man to save my life and I am west indian! I have had to deal with (on top of everyday relationship problems) being drug in the middle of scams and also physical abuse. The last straw was when my last boyfriend was behind my back getting stolen items sent to my house. The police came to my door and he was sitting right on the couch and denied everything even though they said they would put ME in jail!
I also think I had one boyfriend who tried to use witchcraft on me because of some strange stuff I found out about.
To be honest it’s not just the men who are not worth much either. I have female family and old friends that I do not even talk to because they are always on a scam or worse.
Rihanna was scamming Chris into helping her make hit music. She never loved him. It was always about what can I get out of him. That’s why she went berserk when the gig was up.

Does anyone know the definition of a woman beater or better yet do you know what Domestic Violence is. Everyone seems to use the these words loosely and not look at the meaning of it. Domestic violence and emotional abuse are behaviors used by one person in a relationship to control the other. Partners may be married or not married; heterosexual, gay, or lesbian; living together, separated or dating. now if both parties are at fault of doing the same thing that is not considered Domestic Violence. a man who beats on a woman. Woman Beater can apply to men who verbally, mentally or physically abuse women to make up for their own weaknesses and insecurities. They usually dont have much going in their lives and it makes them feel better to pick on women to make up for their failures.
Now lets take this and see where it applies.
