Rihanna was the belle of the ball last night as GLAMOUR magazine honored their 2009 Women of the Year. Not gonna lie, this dress is stunning and made my heart skip a beat. In a fab event in NYC, YBF chicks were out in full force receiving their awards:
Iman was there as well looking pretty in pink and presented Rih with her award.
Rih got a bit teary eyed while accepting her honor.

Everyone looked great, a great celebration for the women of the entertainment industry that occassionally do good.
People need to remember that this is a ‘Glamour’ event, there needs to be a mix of people that are outstanding, along with people that look outstanding. That is the only explanation I can come across for some of these choices.

Rihanna’s dress is edgy but shockingly beautiful. The whole look is well put together. She even managed to pull that crazy blonde hair into step.
Iman still puts all the younger chicks to shame. She lets you know that keeping it fab is possible after 50.

Rihanna deserves the honor for handling such a painful personal situation in the public eye with grace and style. She did not have to become the poster girl for domestic violence, in fact, she could have been frustrated with the distraction to her career. Instead she’s chosen to be an advocate. I commend her for that, and she looks fabulous.
Kudos to Serena as well, I love her look. I appreciate Tyra’s makeunder, it’s a much more natural look for her, but I agree, I think a little more weight is more flattering.

okay don’t call me a hater but i would have to agree with about half of the commentors up here-what exactly has she done to warrant this award? Yes she spoke out about her abuse…last week! But she does kill the style game and she looks good in practically anything she puts on. But the other people that were honored were: Maria Shriver, Maya Angelou, Euna Lee and Laura Ling [the journalists held captive in North Korea]and Jane Aronson [a pediatrician who's helped thousands of needy kids get adopted.] So yeah it does seem weird that Rihanna was chosen to be with this group of women but hey, it’s not like Glamour is a big deal. Yes, Glamour is a big magazine but it’s mostly a FASHION magazine..so I guess they chose Rihanna on her fashion decisions and not by her humanitarian efforts. And even Glamour magazine says that they salute her for her “style and songs.”

She also helped that little girl get a transplant and brough awareness for the dire need for transplant donors.They also said that the national hotline for domestic violence received an increase in calls after it came out that Rihanna was abused. I am still racking my brain trying to figure out what she did to be named “Woman of the Year”. That’s one of the biggest mistakes in our black society. We are too quick to give credit when credit is not due. The girl has not given anything back this whole year. For the most part, she has avoided the spotlight and any questions about her ordeal with Chris Brown. And now, conveniently, the talk shows come on the eve of her album’s release. im about to have a kanye moment….rihanna did not deserve that award. especially not when there’s women like michelle obama, tyra banks & (dare i say it) beyonce that have done so much more and deserve it sooooo much more. glamour just did this for the attention cause they knew homegirl had a album coming out & she was ready to finally to her lies…i mean, story about what happened “that night”. if woman of the year = person that does nothing but jet set and switch clothes ten times a day in order to hold a fashion show on the side walk, only “speaks out” to sell records, puts out half naked promo pix and has pix of her vajayjay & breasts floatng around the internet……then yes rihanna deserves it.
seriously, can someone please let me know what the requirements are to receive the glamour woman of the year award? it shouldnt take you much time to type your response b/c if rihanna got the award there cant be THAT many requirements.

rihanna is beautiful. glad she bouncing back. but no, she doesn’t deserve the award. she hasn’t done a single thing remotely close to being a humanitarian this entire year. she spoke on how she felt in some interviews and then went back to her music. that’s nowhere near comparable to the previous recipients of that award.
