I understand where you are coming from. Her interview on 20/20 and Chris interview on 106 & Park was totally different. While I don’t condone in anyway what he did, I can respect that his interview seemed real…especially since he kept saying “at the end of the day”, lol. But Rihanna’s interview just seemed totally scripted. She was so quick on answering every question…well prepped for it. I just like to feel someone is real. I’m sorry but after watching Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” I can’t even give this video a moment’s consideration. It was so painful to watch. I don’t believe her emotions, it was very random and the song — awful. What she should have done was teamed up with some powerhouse designer like Gaga did, steal a bunch of ideas from other people who are/were or have yet to be successful performance artists, and presented something worth 4:23 seconds of my time. I will definitely NOT watch that again nor buy any of her music.

Ok… first! There isnt anything that says a parent still cant be a parent! It seems that you have forgotten your own childhood where no matter how much your parents told you not to do something, at times you wanted to do what you wanted to do. I was one of the children who went to music to make me feel better! At times I often went to my favoriate artist as a way to escape from what I hated most. I listened to Mary J all day everyday! The point is, people (not even all the time children) listen to artist as a way of expressing how they feel! So, while it is partly on the parents, the artist still have a responsibility to their fans. To say its not that an artists problem because they dont know these people personally makes me wonder if you have ever heard a song that helped you get through a time! If it didnt matter if artists were role models for children or not, we wouldnt have them apologizing and trying to “fix” their image! Kids look to artist, whether its right or wrong! If she didnt feel she was a role model she wouldnt have said it herself! They know where they stand in terms of young children and their audience!

If just one case pops up as her result of her song, its too many. The type of music you listen too influences you, the same way the type of ppl you hang out with can influence you.

I think everyone is forgetting that we are no longer in the 80s and 90s. Alot of kids now-a-days don’t have a positive male or female figure in their life, so they look to celebrities as role models. We know celebrities don’t ask to be role models but it comes with the fame. Even though I am a fan of Rihanna I do think this video is sending the wrong message. There are kids out there who look up to Rihanna, and may be at a low point in their life and this video may tempt them to do something harmful to themselves. Most of us will see this video and will not be influence to do something but not everyone is that strong-minded, ecspecially children.

Hey, where’s Chris Brown’s video. I saw it today on Wendy and figured that it would be on this site also. If I had to choose between the two, I would give his video the edge. It’s pleasant and more believable.
I love Rihanna but I am beginning to feel that she is believe the stuff her people are telling her about herself and has stop growing as an artist. Her Russian Roulette video is cool but she did not bring anything new to the table. From the “Umbrella” to this video one, they all seem like one long video. I remembered how blown away I was at that “Umbrella” video but this new video is dark but nothing really jaw dropping nor new. please do some research. this will give teenagers that are contemplating suicide the strength to complete it. most teens and college students that are suicidal or have those thoughts feed off each other. it becomes a domino effect when one attempts suicide. also, statistcs show that suicide is higher in middleclass african american males. i do not think we should be endorsing this song. young people have to many pressures and all do not know how to properly deal with them thus this song will give them another alternative. suicide is a real problem.

I like the video the more i see it. I dont see how people are relating this to the devil. i think the song is about how you take a chance being so dangerously in love with someone that you take a chance not knowing if that love is going to destroy you but not wanting to stop playing the game. what about the children that do not have a positive role model. There are more Precious’ in the world then we want to know. There are numerous broken homes where there is not communication and love. As an artist, Rih has a responsibility to the population she targets which is young people. Suicide rates are higher amongst that group. It takes a villiage people. I can not believe the comments I am hearing. You do not have to come from a broken home to commit suicide but you never know what your child is experiencing regardless what you taught them. You all know as a teenager we began to separate from from our parents and test our morals and values that they instilled in us. This post is about Rih. I would have commented on the sex saturation in our community if the post was about that. That is a big problem and I concur those artist, record labels and radios have a responsibility for the impact that music has on our youth.
