After accidentally shooting a driver at a New Jersey estate, former NJ Nets baller Jayson Williams will serve up to 3 years in prison after taking a plea deal:
The plea deal would resolve all charges in the case that dragged out for nearly eight years.
During his 2002 trial, the jury deadlocked on the reckless manslaughter count, acquitted him of aggravated manslaughter and convicted him of covering up the shooting. He was never sentenced for the cover-up counts, pending the outcome of the retrial, and has remained free on bail.
Witnesses testified that while showing off a shotgun in his bedroom, Williams snapped the weapon shut and it fired one shot that struck driver Costas Christofi in the chest, killing him.
They also testified that Williams initially placed the gun in the dead man’s hands and instructed those present in the bedroom to lie about what happened.
The defense has maintained the shooting was an accident and that Williams panicked afterward.

Jayson was also dealing with marital drama as his estranged wife claims he was threatening her life, abusing her, threatening to commit suicide and doing drugs all earlier this year. Drama.

i liked jayson williams and thought that he got himself in a bad predicament, so bad it cost someone their life. i believe it def was an accident but he def tried to cover it up also. i guess i gotta be hard on him too tho cause i was just as mad at plaixco and his foolishness and he didn’t hurt anyone. so serve ya jail time, but hopefully he and plax can bounce back.

It was a careless accident- but it still took somebody’s son, or father away, so he must pay.
Guns are bad – people.
America has a big problem here, I have friends from Iran that tell me not even the police there carry guns.NOBODY has guns period.
We all are made to believe the middle east is all bad, but they actually have a very peaceful mentality. We only see what the news shows us.

The state (NJ) was tired of trying to “get at him!” If he’s got as much $$$, to put on up a defense — as THEY do in putting him up on trial — with him “getting off” the first time; AND the case being out of the “spotlight,” why NOT 3 years?!?!
But was THAT picture, of he and the wife, taken during this last court date? I thought, Tasha said,she and he were…’estranged!’
I gotta say this, his wife is F-I-N-E!!!!
And if he didn’t ‘carry-on’ with the BS leading up to this trial/plead, would she still be with him?
