I saw The Queen Project (Tamia, Kelly Price, Deborah Cox) in concert last night and if success in the industry was only based on singing ability then all three of them would be much more commercially successful than they are now, cuz that Kelly Price is an effin beast on the mic and vocally she’d sit ALL these heifers DOWN! ALL!
Either way Rih has been my girl from day one. I downloaded the record, it’s NUTS and I can’t wait to buy it tomorrow.

And as far as all y’all talking about how bad she sounded, dare I use the “H” word but y’all just hatin. It doesn’t take nothin to sing “Hard” and “Wait Your Turn” she damn near talked those out on the record. She ain’t Kelly Price or nothin but she does well with what she got. Like Amerie, she has a distinct sound and either ur into it or ur not and I respect those who aren’t but seriously, let’s be real here.
And speaking of talking it out, in the same breath you hate on Rih you need to also be throwing shade at Whitney Houston’s spoken word performance and Alicia Keys man stealin ass soundin a mess as usual. Her backup singers were eating her alive vocally.

Natasha, I have respectfully disagree with your comment on Janet’s performance. What we saw is a musical and pop cultural (((((43 year old)))) legend who has earned to grace a stage with ease in her movement and vocals. It’s beyond the mystics of Janet, her posture and stance as a performer is freaking unparalleled. Easily one of the best performances of the night!

First of all those comparing Janet to Tina Turner need to go look back at Janet’s type of choreography compared to Tina Turner’s … Janet was the female version of Michael Jackson in their hay days … when will people get this you cannot compare Tina, Cher, Donna Summers, Prince etc to Janet … I swear people make idiotic comments nowadays????

Cause i just came back from THE performance of the night.. Went to the Chris concert in his hometown.. he SHUT IT DOWNNN.. i mean amazing.. sounded amazing.. didn’t lip sync dance moves.. Crowd interaction. That is what was missing from the AMA’s.. Half didn’t have stage presence.. its like do they want to be there?? lol

I like Beyonce too but it’s starting to get real ugly the way we critique other entertainers. Okay I think I get it now! In order to have “stage presence” one must have two backup dancers that look like the singer, a ponytail and that lovely dance leotard, oh yeah and a song that has a repetitive call and response lyric because God knows it’s something that will be utilized on the internet for nearly six months until that next gawd awful single comes out. And of course one MUST shake the booty, do that silly wiggling winding to the floor, and pop the ass to show that lovely “dancing” ability. And then, we get to hear the singer state that they will be making yet ANOTHER album for the following year. Someone needs to take a break

I thought the show was classy. Tired of seeing booty shaking, grinding up on men, humping the floor dances and blown out, overdoing it vocals. It’s not necessary! We’re supposed to enjoy the music and for the most part I did. It’s funny how people on this board only commented on the R&B artist and oh yeah Lady GaGa, but no comments about the other entertainers…that’s because your scope doesn’t go beyond that. That’s like niggas living in the hood and ONLY knowing the hood. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Shakira, Green Day were all good just as Mary, Rhianna was ok, Janet, Alicia/Jay Z… and Ms. Whitney received an award for International Star…meaning WORLD WIDE. There are comments talking about Beyonce should have been there but I’m glad she wasn’t, whether her excuse was she was at a sold out tour or not. Every other star canceled their events to be there! Beyonce is not that huge as everyone make her out to be. No one noticed that Jay Z didn’t except the award for Best R&B for his wife. I’m sure a stan will have an excuse for that. LOL, well I’m glad that many people on here are keeping it real. Rihanna was seriously one of the worst performers of the night. Why is it that every time she does something wrong/bad, her praisers come and defend her? The publicity for the 20/20 interview, the nude/semi nude promo pics for the album… it’s just sad that people really can’t see through the gimmicks and image that these music artists feed us with. “She was having fun on stage” you dumba**es… this isn’t karaoke night, which it looked like it was for Rihanna. Janet did horrible and I think that people need to stop acting like she got it, but damn, at least she tried to dance as where Rihanna just stood there and sung off key! Lordy Lord… People really need to chill with the word – HATE. It’s become so overused… The minute someone states that they do not like something or points out flaws, it’s called HATE. Now, I agree some of the comments may be a little nasty, but come on people. Please stop calling it hate. Fact is Rihanna’s performance sucked. Other than the cute lazer outfit, there was nothing else going on on that stage. Pretty girl, but she always lacks stage presence and vocal range. What kills me is that people say she does the best she can do, but is that really enough?! I mean really… Granted every singer cannot sound like Whitney (well, the Whitney of the 90’s), but there should still be some sort of talent displayed other than wearing a cute outfit (which is the work of a TALENTED stylist). Janet did not have the strongest voice in her prime — but she could perform like no other. Mariah had a very weak stage persona, but her voice was beautiful and powerful enough to see her through. Whitney had very little rhythm, but could basically stand in front of a mic and own the entire auditorium. Beyonce sometimes wears bad wigs and some of her costumes are a bit gawdy, but she will destroy the stage almost effortlessly. J-Lo was not the best singer either, but she can dance her butt off and is amazing when she sings in Spanish. Toni Braxton, Celine, Madonna, the list goes on… All the greats were lacking in some area that could be criticized, but they made up for it somewhere else with talent. Rihanna lacks in all areas except one — she looks good. And people are just tired of it. When an artist takes the stage we want to see a SHOW a performance. Otherwise, what’s the point of being up there?

FYI, Rihanna’s album has not been getting rave reviews all around honey. Do just a tad bit more reading. She looked cute last night though and will continue to look cute thanks to her stylist, her trainer, her whole team of folks. Girls who look like her are a dime a dozen in Trinidad, Barbados, St. Lucia, The DR, and other places.

i think people use the word great to litely on this site.. i listened to her albulm ant the only song wit content and meaning was russian roulette and maybe coldcase love.. but songs like rude boy rockstar g4l thoses are dumbass songs… that have no meaning, dont make any damn sense when u listen to the lyrics and are relly repetive to the point where they are annoyin,,, she is like soulja boy she has songs wit nice hooks and hot beats but the content of the song is dangerously low.. and thats sad for sumoone who is 4 albulms deep into their career… the songs are fukin weak and i heard she did most of the writing this time around on her albulm which explains it all… becuz when she has an albulm where ppl like the dream and neyo are the main writers she is on point.. gggb had good songs that made sense and had content.. this is weak and the wait is not ova cuz no one was fukin waiting

Whitney Houston received the International Award………WORLD WIDE(170 Million), ONLY 7 to get that award … now Ms. Houston. No one is catching up to that standard, no matter how much ass is shown, no matter how much booty shaking is done, no matter how much a song is over blown, no matter how much bloggers blow up a certain person…it is not happening.
