i am a big fan of beyonce, but i have to be real about this. I thought the special was average. abc hyped it up to be something great and it just happened to be something i’ve already seen from beyonce. the makeup was horrendus!!!! she looked like a clown out a horror movie and I wish she would stop wearing the red lipstick b/c it makes her look a mess. I don’t know if it was me but she sounded like mrs. know it all. like when she said she directed the whole show, chile please! u have frank and karen to do that. However, I did like the parts with her and jay z. it seems like she’s finally opening up about their relationship and it was good to see them happy and smiling.

This footage really shows that hard work and persistence pays off. I think she deserves to be rewarded in life. Undeniable talent. I don’t think there is any other female artist that can really put on a concert like Beyonce in this day and age. Her voice is always 100 and her choreography is always 100.

Beyonce is a beautiful women! But, she looked terrible last night, I had a flash back to Michael Jackson with the makeup. Also, she has no connection to her audience. You can telll this is just her job. I felt the same way when I saw her in Indianapolis and I was close up. I thought Alicia Keys put on a better show. But, I still like Beyonce better, she just need to put on some pants with these costumes. lol Beyonce is black people’s Cher at this point, what is next, pants with no but in them. lol

I hate it when people start off saying “I’m such a big fan”. Such a big fan would know the special last night were snippets from her DVD that came out this past Tuesday that was only $13 for a DVD of the concert and 2 separate cds. To get the full concert, which was intimate, you would have to watch the DVD. As a true “big fan”, I loved the concert because she talked about so much of the inspiration behind songs, and gave a great performance for her true fans. Why people that are just going to tear her apart bother to watch her I don’t know. At least she manages to have fans in everyone, no matter if they will admit it or not because I sure the hell wouldn’t be wasting an hour watching anyone I am not a fan of.

Well Lori, if you liked it then good. But, don’t admonish others for sharing their true feelings. Some of you people take it so personal when Beyonce is criticized. Its as though you worship her on an unhealthy level. She and her security would be terrified of your type of support. Did I miss something? Is she the second coming of Christ? There is nothing more helpful for a celebrity than for fans to give their true opnions of the performance. It helps them to work on what doesn’t work well and build on what does. If we were to be “Yes” men to our celebs then we would never get the quality entertainment for all of OUR money that we pay them. Speak the truth and get what you pay for and support. oh my god! It was amazing! it’s not like her usual show its more like unplugged, really shows off her vocals. i loved it. But the dvd doesn’t come out in the u.k until december! I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Which other black female of this generation will perform in vegas? And when she sings sweet dreams, that was beautiful. When she speaks she sounds like a perfectionist but so humble and it was nice she was speaking of her husband. The concept of telling her story is cool aswell

Watched the special last night, I enjoyed it, I feel like she showed a bit of her personality for once, even if it was only a tiny bit, lol. My only dislike is her performance make-up does make her look clownish, and to make it worse, the make-up didn’t even go with her outfit. =/ But other than that, I loved that she changed up the songs for this live Vegas show.

Beyonce is not a great dancer. I saw better dance moves while watching Mya on Dancing with the Stars.
Beyonce knows how to shake her behind, spread her legs wide open and that’s about it.
This special was a bit deformed to me. The scenes were repositioned to create a better story for television. Many people spoke on beyonce and Jay-Z show of affection. It was displayed for less then 5 seconds.
I thought it was rather odd that beyonce gave a prayer that had more thank-you’s in it than actually words spoken to our Lord and savior. Do she believe?
I don’t think so.

I love Bey as an overall performer I can’t deny that that girl can go. As for people with issues with her make-up it is obvious ya’ll don’t understand how much make-up you have to put on when you are onstage so that everyone can see you. Hence her being overdone close up. Go to a broadway show and sit in the balcony…you’ll think the person looks normal…see the person close up and its like WTF? What an early Christmas gift from ABC! There is no denying this young black and fab lady is “it”. She got it all.

I am a black female, i.e. black professional and I’m very proud of Beyonce. But Chiara, you have to understand the black community has so much self hatred for themselves and alot of black people have been taught to not celebrate someone like Beyonce because its wrong. As a southerner who grew up in Cali, I really think notherners don’t get the accent. It comes off judgemental when you criticize what is really just a cultural difference. Truly the chick is a great entertainer and performer but all the other stuff she is being given credit for and take credit for … they all have a history including her all female band thing and the quote that women have power … check female acts from the past and the present and in them you will see Beyonce of the presence. Maybe if she start giving them all credit then people would stop being critical of her but then again we must remember that she is living out her dream as an entertainer so she must emulate in everything … nothing is really that original as before plus many artists have worked with the same people so we gotta blame them as well for bringing back the same concept to every artists … Beyonce is a strong minded individual who has learned from the mistakes of others that is why she is so powerful, well-known and well-respected and for that I will also give her credit.

Okay, i just ended watching this and here are my thoughts. I’m quite Bitching on Beyonce’s make up/ parents/ not wanting to give any kids to Jigga on a daily basis. But that is her as a person. As an artist, even if i’m not a great fan, i will be the first person to defend her harder than a stan when it comes to Hard Working and deserving her success. I won’t say she’s so ” human ” etc coz Tv shows are made to make u think so or the contrary of it, but as a PERFORMER, an Artist, and an aspiring Icon, i give her MAD props ! Now, this being said, she should stop some gimmicks or wildin out on stage, that seems too fake, its showcases why she’s not good at acting ( except for the Irreaplaceable part where she was on point). I think she should learn how to soften her attitude at times.

Not a bad show. Didn’t know she worked so hard on her own sets, dancer, musical arrangement. Hard working woman.
Wasn’t a fan of the makeup, but that’s stage makeup, it’s suppose to be dramatic.
I only listened to her first album for the first time a month ago (lol I know, never gave it a chance back in the day) and you can hear her budding love for Jay all over it. Her denying it was just her keeping her private life. Speechless has to be my favorite.

I thought Beyonce was great. People on here can pull out each other’s hair about how much they love/hate her, but there’s no denying that she is an amazing entertainer. Her voice is always beautiful and she has amazing stage presence and knows how to put on a show. She works extremely hard and I’ve got to respect that because it shows. I hope she keeps up the good work. Also the reason why some people on here are so bitter is because it’s always easier to tear someone down than it is to build them up. I wish her continued success.

I think the show was Ok, but I think she wasn’t singing like she use to. She had too much make-up on and she performs like she has been doing it longer than Tina Turner and she has it like that. Not hating on her, because I do like some of her songs. It’s funny how NOW she wants to talk (and show) about jay z. Beyonce is ENTERTAINMENT and she needs to work on her interviewing skills, because they are HORRIBLE. I did like her python jacket, but OVERALL, I would say the special wasn’t “special” at all.

I believed that the special was entertaining. However, when she sings that ballads there is no true soul or emotion there to take you to that place. Nothing. I am a fan but her voice is good, but there is no experience or sorrow to it. As much as she may try to do those vocal lessons, she may never have that. Her interviews always leave something left to be desired. She mentioned in this program that all of her songs reflect something in her life, and it’s like give me a break Beyonce, you don’t write half of your songs. I don’t ever feel like she’s being real with people. She’s just a product. It’s just hard when you have people like Mary J. and Alicia Keys who really give you a glimpse of their life in their music and you know you’re getting a piece of who they are with their songs. With Bey it’s more like she just makes songs that fit whatever is hot at that time. She’s in a “loving” relationship but she’s making songs about heartbreak and everything. It’s just so obvious her music doesn’t come from the heart, and that makes such a difference.
Aside, however, she possesses much talent and an incredible ability to draw an audience of all cultures. After B-Day though, she completely lost me…

I am a huge Beyonce fan! I’ve seen her in concert twice most recently at the Essence Festival this past July. She was GREAT! Last nights special was a big disappointment. Her makeup was horrendous, costumes horrible, and the (re)arrangements terrible. I too felt that she came across as a ‘know-it-all’ and her input seemed to add very little artistic value. She definitely needs to work on public speaking. I hate writing anything negative because she is the best in the game but sometimes we need to know when to say no. This special was clearly rushed and definitely failed to deliver on the standard we’ve grown to expect.

Beyonce’s concert special on ABC was top notch. I mean if you want to talk about the makeup, ok, it was for the stagge, so over one thousand people could see her. If you want to talk about it being short, OK well there is a DVD iwth over TWO HOURS of live singing, live dancing, full tap sequences that show Beyonce truly loves all aspect of performance, full blown ballads where she’s sitting on the stairs Also in the DVD you see how she has a HUGE HUGE role in how the show is put together, from including the strings section, to what notes the musicans will play, to the set list, to harmonizing her vocals to instrumetnation. You see her scatting on the DVD, just giving her all to the stage. So if you want to see more of that check out the DVD.
I mean I can understand having some issues, but some of you are going hard with negativity, like it’s hard to give props to a singer who works 110 percent on stage. Who goes hard to perform her very best, whether singing a power ballad or doing difficult choreography while singing. Regardless of what u think of interviewing, (which wasn’t that serious in this special), I can’t hate on a woman giving her all in an industry that’s based sometimes on looks, fashion, and singers doing 10 percent by walking back and forth across a stage. Beyonce owned the stage and the reviews have been stellar for what really matters. Her vocals and performance! Can’t wait to see more work from her! And I’m sure even those griping can’t get enough. Since they know more than the fans.

You completely lost all relevance in this argument with saying Alicia Keys really gives a glimpse into her life and keeps it real with her writing. LMAO!! That is definitely a silly argument. Alicia Keys has songs called “Superwoman”, “Jane Doe”, and “Karma” yet she’s sleeping with a married man!!!! How would those songs indicate that she is a “real songwriter” if anything she is definitely a fraud. Let’s not discuss Alicia in relation to writing and claim accuracy.
Also plenty of singers sing about heartbreak while in love. That doesn’t mean that people haven’t experience hurtful relationships. Or they haven’t seen their mother, father, sister, brother be hurt.If that’s the case nobody would have anything to write about they’d write about the same thing. Alicia performs at World Aids Day, but does she have HIV ummm no. Mary sings about being happy now but does that take away from when she was going through pain? No. So because an artist isn’t going through it now, they aren’t coming from truth? Wow. Some singers are just puppets, sing whatever and when they get on stage on top of that walk back and forth, like they are on strings. Bey at least has a hand in what topics she sings about, the presentation and everything overall. So if you are going to pit singers gainst her at least be accurate, because bringing up Akeys and her contradictory songwriting wont’ cut it!

i lived in the south for several years & i marvelled how
you couldn’t tell a southern black from a southern white unless you were looking directly at the person…
upon return to the midwest, i noticed the same-the exception was that black people were doing the “valley”talk;some talking whiter than the whites!
what’s wrong with being yourself?!!? what’s wrong with ms. b’s dialect? at least she’s doing her….. i have a strong aversion toward people not being themselves–its as though being you isn’t good enough….dialect has nothing to do with speaking proper english. also, does this apply only to ms.b or all of the dirty south rappers/artists, because it seems to me that ONLY her southern drawl offends you all…

It’s a crazy something how people indirectly LIVE vicariously thru another person’s success, justifying it ALL, as though their valid points are meaningful. Sad part it’s more vicariousness going HARDER on the internet then it seems for SOME in real life. The forum shows that! No doubt, Beyonce is one of the best, if not the best female entertainer. She stands out, because she actually sings perfectly live, has beautiful voice without the extra runs, and puts her best in what she does. It’s nice to see Bee and Jay show some affection.
You can’t compare Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey to Madonna or Bey or Janet, because they are singers, not entertainers. They are known for their voices, their songs, not dance moves or the kind of costumes they wear. I’m not a big fan of Bey’s music, so I will take Alicia Keys, Sade, Mariah Carey over her.

On the negative side, there wasn’t that much of a difference to the shows she has already done! On the Positive, she works very, very hard, singing and dancing is super hard she still belts out those notes, she actually takes the piss with it, she gets everybody motivated which is great and knows what she wants, even though she has the creative team behind her to give her that hand! I don’t really need or want to know about her marriage but glad she is still with her husband, and they seem very happy Black love is wonderful. That’s where you’re wrong. Weavee should not be your model of a strong and powerful black woman doing her thing. There are plenty of actual artists who fill that position: India Arie, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Erykah Badu, hell even Michelle Williams does a better job of representing the black community.
I’m not going to put Weavee in that list because her ass is preoccupied with fulfilling the requirements of how the Western world thinks black people SHOULD be, not what they truly are. I’m not hating on her for looking the way she does, hell she can do whatever she wants with her look. But if she truly wanted to be real, she’s stop working out like a mad-woman just so that she’s lean (even her trainer says her currenty body shape is unnatural for HER). She’d admit to living by the wig-n-weave philosophy (there’s nothing wrong with, so why lie) and she’d stop wearing makeup that makes her look progressively whiter (please refer to the special).
Weavee is alright, but she’s not the symbol for black success.

This was the highlight of my Thanksgiving! Bey’s voice is AMAZING! She’s the only pop star giving us REAL talent on this level (Lady Gaga and Janelle Monae are getting there)!

She had to put the make up on heavy for it to show up on the dvd. When you’re under lights, etc., make up fades quickly. She knows what she’s doing and that’s why she’s been in the top spot for the past 12 years. She and Jay are truly in love and are for real.
Yes, on Thanksgiving me, my sister, Mother and niece all gave thanks to Beyonce!!!
