Why aren’t black women married? Because there are not many eligible black men to date. black women are consistently (statistically) more educated and and in a higher income brackets than our male counterparts. We are in corporate america at higher rates. We out-number black men in our community (you know – prison, drugs, homosexuality, etc). Additionally, America presents a skewed view of what beauty is and many of our men (and women) buy into that and seek companionship from non-black women.
About why black women (and MEN) are obese at high rates…It comes from historical eating patterns, availability of healthful food in our communities and the income to afford ‘health’ foods, living sedentary lives as a result of living mainly in inner cities and big cities where outdoor/physical activity come with a sometimes hefty price (i.e. gym and other types of memberships) and lastly, what we teach our children and health and well-being. I could go on…
My point is that you don’t need to come in here dissing black women as a whole because you don’t care for some of the comments made here and because you have a thing for Serena Williams. We as black women and men could spend all day going tit-for-tat pointing out each others flaws and problems, but if you are a black man, realize that your mother is a black woman too.
