Today a woman named Laura Goldstein reached out to a website to give a shocking story about R&B singer Pleasure P, a.k.a. Marcus Cooper. Laura is the daughter of the Florida attorney who allegedly represented Pleasure P in the molestation case. She claims to have documented proof that Pleasure P/Marcus Cooper molested not only ONE but SEVERAL kids, while being a member Pretty Ricky:
“My dad was being paid to cover it up but they owe my dad a lot of money and don’t want to pay him. I first overheard my dad say that it was someone famous but I found out who he was talking about. This guy Pleasure P got kicked out of a group bc he was hiding that he was a child molester. His managers or whatever hired my dad to keep it quiet so he could get a record deal. The guy Pleasure P molested a 4 yr old child and was about to molest another one when police came and saved the child. Now, the truth is out they’re threatening my family and telling my dad he’s going to get sued. But they can’t because its a crime.”

Pleasure P’s former band mates and their manager have released the following cryptic statement:
“Unfortunately due to Pleasure P’s lawyer filing an injunction against us from speaking, we are not at liberty to speak about the case. How ever we will let it be known that we did kick him out of the group, he did not leave on is own free will. We did a deal with Atlantic via Craig Calman that we would let him out of the group if they bought out his contract with us and Blue Star which is the official label of Pretty Ricki. We are not at liberty to discuss why we kicked him out of the group.”

Those papers don’t look official to me. It looks like they were typed to the hearing, but then things were scribbled in, so that makes no sense, courts don’t do that. In the hand written portion the name of the parent is out of place and in one part it mention a woman as a perent, but then the order goes on only regarding a father for placement. Then parts of on document are scratched out, why? That was an option, it should not be scratched out in that way. Judges generally put their title in front of their name which is gone and there are no court-seals on those docs. I’ve seen lots of court papers and they are not typed in different fonts, like those papers are, so I don’t trust those papers. Not to say that the allegiations may not be true, honestly I wouldn’t leave a little boy alone with none of those Pretty Ricky boys, they all look like perverts to me… However, the sayings of an attorney’s daugther and a former bandmate twitter, it sounds like one is after money and one is maybe bitter since he had slight more success than the group ever has, but it is not enough to convince me of the validity of this rumor. I mean if it is true, then he should be required to register as a sex offender, which all you have to do is search FL sex offender records and see if he is there. I totally agree. I know the media and these gossip blogs want to be the first to break a story but make sure your information isnt harming the child. His name should have been hidden. Many around may not know about this and his parents or guardians may have chosen to handle this privately. I understand the importance of wanting to inform your viewers about this information, but I think it is irresponsible to post court documents with the child’s name on them. Cases such as this are confidential for a reason to protect the identity of the victim/survivor.
I am not in any way condoning what Pleasure P did, but as a law student who will be entering the profession soon there is a certain code of ethics that we are to adhere by. It was inappropriate for the attorney’s daughter to take matters into her own hands and he can also get in a lot of trouble for his daughter’s actions. But in regards to this site, I ask that you at least take the court documents down or blot the child’s name from the documents.
I apologize if I read the documents wrong, but for the sake of the victim/survivor and the family – please take these documents down.

I have seen plenty of court documents and they do NOT look official at all. Court seals are missing. Judges normally do not sign documents like that as well. Actually they DO look official. I have court documents that look exactly like those! The judge will cross out items that don’t apply to your particular case and write in his/her decision. Just glancing at them though, they look more like NCO’s or a custody case. And in those cases, the child’s name is listed on the documents. If this IS a criminal case, I don’t know why the documents aren’t sealed. But, most family court cases aren’t sealed.

There is always a seal of some sort and a case/docket number. They are also missing. Also if I am not mistaken the Joseph Smith name they have on that paper/document….isn’t that the manager and the father of some of the members of Pretty Ricky??? This is all suspect and proves nothing and that crazy chick and all these gossip site should be ashamed of themselves for putting a child’s name out there like that. Here’s a letter I received detailing everything that’s going on with the Pleasure P Child Molestation Drama that hit the web earlier today. Via Bitchie Mail:
Hey Necole,
I know you heard a lot about the whole “Pretty Rickey/Pleasure P” child molestation drama. Well I am VERY close to the situation and BOTH parties and I want you to understand that it is ALL true. Not speculation or anything. He was convicted. The problem lies in Blue Star Entertainment, the label that housed and groomed Pretty Ricky. They paid a substantial amount of money to have these documents sealed back in 2006. The label wanted to keep the aura of Pleasure in the group and figured since he was signed basically for life that they would recoup the cost. Well, this was not the case as the other members of Pretty Ricky started separating themselves from Marcus “Pleasure P” Cooper as time went on. This eventually lead to them riding in separate cars to shows, arguing amongst themselves to them even jumping him (Pleasure P) at one point. This lead to him leaving the group but he is still very much contracted to Blue Stars Entertainment for 5 albums.
Here’s what happened: When he was 16 going on 17, he was left alone with his niece and nephew with whom he touched and penetrated with fingers on several occasions. His aunt noticed his niece complaining of her genital area hurting, when asked what happened she replied “Uncle Marcus keeps touching me and he hurt me”. Of course Marcus (Pleasure P) denied the allegations but the doctor found signs that she had vaginal damage and tearing. Charges were then pursued by the State of Florida.
The incident happened in 2004 going into 2005. He served like 8 months, rehab and community service by time the trial came up. Marcus accepted a plea with the State of Florida and Joseph Smith who is the care giver of the niece and nephew which Marcus “Pleasure P” Cooper molested. These are not the only papers filed against him. These are the first of 3. As part of the plea agreement Marcus plead guilty and paid an “undisclosed amount” to remain free and have the records “sealed” and on the family level for them to remain quiet and not to speak publicly about it. The “sealed document” means nothing other than “we won’t tell anyone it’s here..but if they find it they can have it” basically. The problem also is that Attorney Goldstein (Who represented Marcus “Pleasure P” Cooper in the trial) has a daughter named Laura Goldstein who is also her fathers assistant. Marcus Cooper never completed his payments after the hearing to his attorney.
Attorney Goldstein tried to reach out to Marcus only to be told “Don’t call this phone no more” on several occasions. This caused frustration on Attorney Goldstein’s ends due to the time & effort he put into this “special plea bargain” he negotiated that I don’t think ANY attorney could have done. After Attorney Goldstein threatened to sue Marcus Cooper the “alleged threats” became real from Coopers end. I have personally heard these messages and I know who they are from and they are very disturbing. Especially to an attorney who can use them against you.
Laura Goldstein felt her father was not doing enough to stop the threats as they began to increase so she took to twitter (her twitter is @AGoldsteinGirl) to “expose” Marcus “Pleasure P” Cooper in a way that was sure to make him “go away”. Now all the documents from the initial hearing have been released and there is plenty more evidence out there I assure you. Everyone involved including Spectacular (Pretty Ricky) have commented via twitter on the documents in shock thinking they would never get out.
The next problem is whether Laura Goldsteins father will have to pay the ultimate price of getting disbarred for breaking Attorney Client Privilege or will it be deemed public domain? I don’t know, but I do know both parties and its about to get ugly. I will keep you up to speed if anything else jumps off.

For you guys information, the court documents are legit this is how they look when you are a juvenile. ChildNet was who pressed charges and he did 8 months. His real name is Marcus Cooper and his name is written in cursive on the court documents. He was 17 years old when he got convicted making him a minor. At 18 the records got sealed by the label he was signed to Atlantic Records. You guys don’t think much do you?
When Pleasure P aka Marcus cooper stopped paying the atty thats when the documents got leaked.He also paid a substantial amount of money to get a short jail time and for the parents to never reveal it. But if it got leaked then it was out of their hands.

1) He (Spectacular) didn’t deny it, did he? I could’ve sworn it said “That was supposed to be sealed”. CLEARLY he was acknowledging the situation was true (also, I went to Spectacular’s page, he deleted the tweet, but she had already RT’d it, so it was too late)
2) How would her father lose his license or get sued? SHE WORKED FOR HIM & therefore had access to his records. If anything, SHE is going to have consequences, not her father

Please take the name of the CHILD VICTIM’s name off of the post. There is something called victim’s rights whether you are 1 or 100. And in some states it is illegal to publish a minor victim’s name just as is to print a minor suspects name. You better cover you butt and make sure you don’t end up getting sued over this. He is no where to be found in the sexual offender database.
According to Ms. Goldstein’s twitter page he did 8 months as a juvenile when he was 17.
Juvenile sex offenders are put into the database as well especially at that age and you can search those records too.
He is not listed as a sex offender.
On the handwritten court document there is a name – Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith is the father of all the original Pretty Ricky members except Marcus Cooper.
Mr. Cooper needs to contact his lawyer/lawyers ASAP. This rumor is spreading like wildfire.

Based on the court doc’s you’re showing they don’t list his offence. One just states he should not have any unsupervised contact with the child. Which should mean he physically or mental abused the child not molested them or in domestic abuse or assault cases the may order a person to do that. You don’t have the sentencing order paperwork saying what he was guilty of. Even if it is a juvenile case he would have to register as a sex offender. it sounds a little off because a prosecutor wouldn’t bring a case to trial or make such an agreement that wouldn’t allow him to be punished for what happen.

He might not be in jail for the following reasons: A) The parents did not choose to press charges and/or allow their kid to testify. B) It may have been his first offense (which I think there should be ZERO tolerance for situations like this) so according to the laws on the books, the court may have no choice but to do a lighter sentence, i.e. community service, etc..especially if it was considered a misdemeanor and not a felony (which cases like this often are.)
And as for the documents not being real…get real! Document policy and procedure varies from state to state. So in FL, it may be standard practice to put the names on the documents, regardless of the victim’s age. Sealed documents doesn’t mean missing info, but it does mean the documents are not open to the public. So, the child’s name on the document does not discount the authenticity of the document in any way.
I think he did it…and he needs a beat down everyday of his life for it. So disgusting!

It is pretty clear that ppl are not reading the entire document based on some of the comments made. The document is not a criminal document; it is from the Family Court #1. #2 nowhere on those document is the child’s name: That is the FATHER’s name and possibly the mother’s, because you see the on one of them where it was crossed out and that the child apparently went to a foster home. Pleasure P apparently was/is a person of interest in some type of criminal activity because he cannot have contact w/the child at all. The only place the child’s name is written is highlighted out in PINK so you cannot see the child’s name. Furthermore whoever posted those documents had direct access,whether it was a clerk or a party to the case. As far as looking official-I have worked for DC Superior Court for 11years and family court does have forms similar to those especially in custody hearings and the judges scribble right on them however and whatever the wish. Unless an order was officially written that is what pending matter’s paperwork look like. This happened in 06 the matter could still be pending and there may not have been enough evidence to charge him in criminal court-the reason why he is not a registered sex offender.

oh, yeah- OF COURSE all of the names of the ppl involved are in the documents- family matters are closed to public access so no one is supposed to see them but the ppl involved. The reason MC is officially typed on the doc is because in cases like this where there may have already been neglect by the parents-the molestation could have come up by eye witness who reported or from interviewing the child, but the parents ability to protect their child is going to be question if safety is involved; esp if someone told them this was/may have been happening and no one did anything-the parents are then charged with NEGLECT

I don’t know if this is true or not, but I am still left with the impression that some shady shit went down.
People are too litigious in this day and age for me to think there’s not truth here. This attorney already would have been shut up with paperwork if it wasn’t true. I’m no lawyer, but wouldn’t Pleasure P have to prove the charges were false to have a defamation case? I can call you a whore and you can sue me, but first, I think you have to prove you’re not a whore. (random example, I know)
If the daughter leaked this, the father is not culpable and while he might get a censure from the state bar, he’s not getting disbarred. He can’t be disbarred for an employee’s actions, even if said employee is his daughter.
Everyone involved in this travesty, if it’s true, needs someone to put a foot up their ass. To stand by and keep quiet about child molestation and rape UNTIL you stop getting paid makes you worse than the molester, in my opinion.
If this isn’t true, I hope Pleasure P gets a retraction printed in ALL the major papers, an apology, and a big check.

Um, for a child molestation charge it would not be at the discretion of the parents to press charges. the state can do that with or without the parents support. And even for a first offense, he would still be required to register as a sex offender, there are lots of first offenders registered as sex offenders, even if he got a light sentence.

Although Pleasure P was 16 going on 17 yrs old when he committed these terrible acts, he had sense to know that this was wrong. And to do this to your niece & nephew who’s flesh & blood makes it worse. How long did he think this was gonna stay a secret? It’s unbelievable. He seems to have learned from his mistakes & has turned his life around though. But I still can not look past this crime. He’s an entertainer in the limelight, he’s being looked up to by millions. Smooches29 – Even if the ‘ALLEGATIONS’ were true; if when this was brought to case, and he was found not guilty, then yes, they would have dismissed the case, and sealed or expunged (if he were arrested or charged w/molestation) the records if asked.
Furthermore, if this situation WERE TRUE, and he had actually molested his niece and nephew; I doubt seriously that they would have not put him in jail, and he’d probably be in jail now. And if he were a sex offender, then he’d be on the sex offender website, with ALL the other listed known sex offenders who have been to jail, court, etc – And if you check the sex offenders site for the State of Florida, and Broward County; either you don’t find his name at all, and if you do find the name Marcus Cooper, its not Pleasure P.

The documents are from 2006. Thats damn near 4 years ago. Thats kind of suspicous dont you all think?? It may be true, however I do not believe it based on the docs you have shown and the story told.
First, the docs shown above all pertain to a minor who was separated from his/her home. In such a case such docs certainly would be sealed.
Second, a daughter of a lawyer would know better than to speak out about one of her father’s cases. This and revealing documents as proof could get her father disbarred and her jail time. It does not matter if what the defendant did is against the law. Whatever a person reveals to an attorney is confidential; for life.
My God, can you imagine what would happen if every attorney’s family member spoke out about one of his/her cases just because there was a lack in payment?
No, based on the facts presented, I do not believe the story. It is sad that with all the real news, someone would take the time to publish such a story.
And by the way, I never heard of Pleasure P.
This story is made-up and it is sad!
