Here’s Chris Browns “20/20″ interview that aired tonight with Robin Roberts. Chris did not discuss any details from that now infamous night. Only what has come of it since.
He also confirmed that Rihanna did in fact hear the “Changed Man” song he wrote and sang specifically for her, despite her saying during her own “20/20″ interview that she never heard it. Chris said he actually played it for Rihanna the day he wrote it, and she cried.
On a side note, it sounds like we weren’t the only ones who were mad at the MJ tributes at the BET Awards. Here’s what Chris had to say about it in the upcoming issue of VIBE:
You were removed from the BET Awards show when the Michael Jackson tribute was happening. As a supreme MJ fab, that had to hurt.
CB: It was wack. I’ll keep it a hundred. The BET Awards was horrible. I was watching it, holding my face like, “Oh my God, this is wack.” I didn’t get it. Michael Jackson was such a big entertainer. And I’m not dissing any of the artists who did the songs. But I was expecting a lot more of energy for Michael. And BET Awards usually comes hard. I was expecting them to have Usher, Omarion and even Justin. And I was expecting Ne-Yo to dance. They were so bent on getting me there that they messed up their own show.

Well it just proves what WE who can see through Rihanna … that she is INDEED A LIAR … I feel bamboozled about this – and I guess the whole not showing it in the morning was the reason for that but I think there is more to that 20/20 interview but it was cut short as a result of the Amanda verdict – he couldn’t have done such a short interview at all b/c they show her walking with him and talking with him earlier yesterday and today – coughing up crap … then again the WHOLE victim behavior that she is running around the world playing makes it a conflict of interest for them to allow him to speak the whole truth about what went down anyway … they would probably be accused of double standard again. On Tuesday will be coping CB’s new CD b/c he’s talented and his music speaks for itself. He can’t be punished for the rest of his life for something that he is remorseful for and is serving the time ( community service, ect.) that the judge ordered. I have to agree with CB on the BET Awards…It would’ve only been fitting to have CB perform for the MJ tribute. Beyonce/Jigga performed but it wasn’t fitting for MJ. I would have been better if CB paid homage to his idol on the show…despite his situation. But he was blackballed and I think Jigga had something to do with that indirectly…
As far as Ri lying about not hearing the song from CB…I knew she heard that song…but they both lied on a number of things. But as I listen to both intervies by both artist–little subliminal messages are emerging…both are telling detailed accounts of what happened in their relationship in their songs..and more details to come cuz they are both on this media rollercoaster right now…especially since both have albums coming out at about the same time. Hmmm–interesting comments in here..I am a HUGE RiRi fan and make no qualms about it…and I’m not a CB fan at all. But I’m going to be objective. One might say it’s her word against his…bottome line we don’t know these ppl personally nor do we know what happened that night. But even I have reservations about Ri’s credibility. @luvriri … Triz is correct in some respect on her theory and this is why stars need to be honest with the public period … in her interview to 20/20 she stated that people have an unrealistic view of what celebrities are and what they are suppose to be. She said don’t expect her to be perfect … now with all that said by her. She explain why she went back and stated that she is not weak, the only reason why she said she was strong was because Oprah & Tyra called her out and labelled her weak for returning to me … now since she was being honest about being strong and worry about Chris and NOT BEING PERFECT, it was her way out to explain her emotional reaction to hearing that song. I’m still NOT giving her a pass on this one at all. Playing tough for love gets you nowhere … she keeps riding around town and the world saying that she is over him to hurt him b/c he came out and said that he still loves her and I do understand b/c I’m still in love with my first love after I too walked away from the relationship b/c he wouldn’t stop cheating. I chose to do it and act tough but deep down til this day I’m hurting inside esp. b/c I let someone else help to push us a part without a real explanation to him.
The only reason why those kids are no longer together like you guys implied is because of the whole media situation surrounding it. The released photos, the Oprah show, the Tyra show, The View and many other open forum places that kept getting into their business and forcing them to be role models to our kids when we should be the role models for our children. Now since they attribute those burden to them and she herself claim in the interview that she has accepted that responsibility, then part of being a good role model is providing an open forum of HONESTY. Too many people are let down b/c they all pretend to be perfect and then when their true colors surface, they run around begging for forgivenss and talking bout they are HUMAN and not God.
For those who are complaining baout Chris’s Larry King interview, if you all notice in the 20/20 interview with Rihanna when she was asked the same question she lied and said NO … Why? because then she thought that she would have to explain the real reason behind him pushing her against the wall which would mar what she was trying to portray with the interview … a victim status. Rihanna was a VICTIM OF ASSAULT, not DV. I wish people would look up the definition or research the criteria for DV. There are other sites that have exposed other stars who have hit their spouses or beaten them in one attack and they label it as ASSAULT in police reports, these are White people I’m referring to, I’m sure they have labelled the incident that surrounded Rihanna’s situation as Assault as well in the police report and criminal proceedings, therefore I’m still wondering why is there a double standard with this Chris situation? Is it because he is black? Being hit or physically abused one time is not considered Domestic violence … I never read that in any of my Criminal Justice classes at all. And no I’m not trying to devalue Rihanna’s situation but I know women who have experienced true domestic violence since I was a kid and I swear Rihanna’s situation has been used to make a mockery of society and real women who go through this situation despite the fact that they are claiming that the phone lines to the DV centers went up after she spoke.
Whitney Houston was raw and honest during her interview about her and Bobby – Rihanna watched that interview and wanted to appear that way to the average viewer but like someone mentioned she came off as cold and calculating esp. with her Sharon Stone “Basic Instinct” impression. When Michael Jackson did his interview with Oprah in 1983 and the questions about Plastic surgery came up, I knew he was lying and I wanted to smack him through the TV as well and there were many other interviews by him and many other superstars who I wanted to give that wake up call to … these young people have not learn from the Brandy situation as well … when I could tell she was obviously lying about being married and having this fairytale life. Karma is a MF and she sure paid the price for lying to the viewers, fans and supporters. in this life all we can do is learn from our mistakes and move on. regardless of his fame he’s still just a human being like the rest of us, and sadly but surely he is not the first nor will he be the last man to hit a woman. that’s not an excuse to say that he was justified in doing so but the stuff happens every day and just as those men get to move on and continue their lives so should chris.

People should’ve realized by now that chris isn’t going anywhere, and even still he’s a kid: he should be able to continue his career and life. Its as if anyone who’s ever been slapped has suddenly become a rihanna fan and the people who don’t like her have suddenly jumped on chris’ bandwagon.
Chris deserves to be able to tell his side of the story. the media is only flocking to rihanna’s side because she’s female. there were reports of her kicking his ass for 2 years before the incident back in february and no one cared. I’m not saying what he did is right but there is no way that she is innocent of any wrong doing. even still she only waited to do her interview for publicity because it coincided with her album release. her album still flopped in the U.S. AND the U.K. so i guess all those interviews she did bashing chris and trying to gain publicity for the album failed.
plus she’s admitted to violence before, including an interview in which she admits to smashing her own brother in the face with a glass bottle. if that’s not a sign i don’t know what is.
Glamour named her one of their women of the year and for what? cuz she spent the last few months strutting the streets in heels? or because everyone felt sorry for the fact that she fell ‘victim’ to chris?

MJ was the biggest black entertainer the world has ever seen, global icon, one of a kind, no one before him or after and this is what they do???? I would have preferred it if they just played one of the many video collages that MJ did himself ie. his Brace Yourself videos and be done with it cause that ish they did was tacky. TRIZ you’re probably the only one in here that I totally agree with. If anyone thinks that these two still don’t love each other then they’re fools. If CB hadn’t gotten caught-they would’ve still been together. I don’t hate on either of them. But I do know that both of their PR ppl are influencing them BIG TIME. Reading this article was insightful, but it again it showed me how clueless Chris Brown is. Like really clueless, almost to the point of missing brain cells clueless. He continues to sound like a typical attacker in some parts, and I don’t even think he full grasps what he did that night. Not even to respect the victim, at all. Taken aside who she even is, her backstory, her music, whatever and just lookin at it from a noon bias standout point, this dude is still a mess. Look at this statement and tell me does it make an ounce of since:

For a woman to go back to a man who commits DV acts would almost be like sayin yeah go walk into a situation that might possibly kill you. Chris owned up that people were telling him in that taped confession how to say this or that, so that means he wasn’t being himself. Rihanna and Chris still love each other. I can see it in their behaviors. Rihanna acting out and talking so much about sex, because she misses her boo. And he saying he still has love for her, and the way he looked when he looked at clips of her interview, i can see he still feels for her. He stated that her people wanted to put a stop to them, but he wanted counseling to show that a bad situation in a relationship can be overcome. They were such a beautiful couple. Such a shame the public got involved and didn’t allow them to properly work this out privately together. People are still trying to get them to hate each other, so those poor young people are feeling miserable. We should stop taking sides in peoples relationship, and allow them to just try to get past this. The people in the public to me are the ones prolonging it and making it worse.

This CB and RiRi drama kinda reminds me of when Janet Jackson and James Debarge got married…and at about the same age as CB & Ri are now. Janet & James were sooo in love and wanted to be together that they too were going thru the same thing..except there was drugs involved. PPL close to Janet wanted her out of the relationship, but she was reluctant to leave because of her attachement to James. They were married for only 6 months I think before it was annulled. It left Janet lonely, confused, and dealing with a rollercoaster of emotions…ie.Rihanna. Janet did what Ri is doing right now…putting her feelings into her music. Music is a therapeutic medium…a way to escape your problems. Only I believe Janet handled it the right way by moving on and not acting out…Rihanna is following a different path that may not be the best for her. I like it that’s she’s having fun…but I know her heart aches for that boy. Nobody knows if she still crys at night when no one is around. Behind this facade she’s eliciting is a hurt little girl wanting to get off this rollercoaster of a business. She will come into her own…but it’s going to take time and a whole lot of patience. Just like Janet…she’s get past it.

I am gonna have to say this interview reveled to me a whole lot. First that Chris saw many clips and the only thing he countered was that she heard a song. Which means to me that he is pretty much co-signing everything else she said, except the song incident. So I guess if he wanted to say she did hit him first, and anything else was a lie, he could have busted her out there too, but he didn’t, so that means it never happened that way. Rihanna started doing interviews around the time her album was to be released; Chris Brown started extensively doing interviews around the time his album was to be released …
How is Rihanna using this as an opportunity to promote, while Chris Brown is not?
On both 20/20 interviews, I saw their singles played at the end …
All I see are double standards here.
And on another note, why would people assume that Chris Brown’s desire to keep what occurred that night private is commendable?
From one point of view, it would seem he wants to keep the matter private in an attempt to avoid looking worse. I mean, seriously, why would he want to go into detail about why and how he beat her, and what was going through his mind? That would make him seem like a real monster.
As I mentioned b4, I have nothing against Chris Brown, and I hope the public eventually gets over this, and his career is not stalled by this, however I still don’t agree w/ everyone trying to choose sides.

It’s kind of hard to believe that this was the first incident of violence.
From my own experience working in the legal aid field, and speaking w/ others who work w/ abused women, if they had been dating a full year, I find it hard to believe he didn’t expose his anger management problems sooner.
You don’t just get up one day and beat up somebody, and that is completely out of your character. Especially when, the person hasn’t seriously physically harmed you.
And the fact that she went back to him after the incident, is also an indicator that it wasn’t the first time they had a physical altercation.

Well from your legal or personal experience you should know that every situation is not the same. Chris Brown has never had any criminal charges or complaints against him prior to this situation, in my experience that is a rarity that the abuser has not had any previous run-ins with the law. Also, her running back to him can be evidence that it was the first time; it also can be evidence that she knew she provoked the attack. In my experience it is rare that a woman initiates the DV in a relationship, therefore I don’t compare this situation to other DV cases.

@lisa, honestly I would have started going off at him verbally. The key word Verbally. I think a lot of people seem to think that most women would hit their man. I would not have hit him. No where in the police report does it say ANYTHING about Rihanna hitting him. It says they were arguing, she got angry and hit the DASHBOARD. He pulled over and tried to push her out of the car and when he couldn’t, because of her seatbeat, he slammed her head into the window and started punching her. The police report ALSO states that he had hit her previously. You STUPID Chris Brown fans are always making up garbage to defend his psychotic ass. Though Rhianna’s statement was NEVER revealed, we can reasonable draw conclusion as to it’s ‘theme’. Said theme was made public by TMZ just before SHE was to, as it appeared at the time, take the stand and bear witness against Chris Brown.
It can be of NO small significance, that TMZ quoted LAPD investigators, who characterized Rhianna’s actions as: “Aggressive and Instigative!” Based on HER admitting that it was SHE who became enraged after reading a three page text message from a woman “Chris had a previous relationship with!”
