Black women have been rocking the short look forever, Mary J., Nia L. and all the black girls out here in the streets. Short look is from the 90s we all had it. The issues is there r limited black chicks in the industry that are very fashion-forward. But there’s a lot of black chicks out here that r not stars that have been rocking that “riri” look long before her – bec they are not famous, no one sees it. As much as I don’t like riri – she studied high-fashion very well – she manage to do the same thing that Kelise was doing but did it 10 times better (she made it look good and wearable). I personally think Kalice can’t dress, u can see where she’s trying to go but she over does it. Perhaps you missed the part where he was ASKED what he thought of all these women. He asked to rate them on a scale of 1-10 by their ’swagger’ not their bodies or sex appeal. Plus, Flex asks EVERY males celebriy who comes through that question. It’s standard on that show
Furthermore, most of those women Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose, hell even Bey (we saw her in that damn video phone video) walk around half naked all the time! If you dress a certain way, then men are gonna objectify you. All men do it not just celebs, maybe not publically, but they do!

NO THE REAL CORRECT is she was never dropped from anywhere – Star Trax moved distribution from Virgin America/EMI to Arista/BMG, and then folded into SonyBMG itself, which led to her being shifted to Jive ; surrounded by A&R and people that didn’t actually sign her. In Europe, EMI were quite eager to hold onto her, hence The Hits collection when it emerged she was going to sign elsewhere.

I must admit that while i know who Kelis is, I’m not up on her music. And like she says in the interview the music industry likes a pretty face, but someone who dares to be edgy stands out. Most big pop stars didnt get where their are because they were deep thinkers. And just because someone didnt become some mega-star does not mean that they are not relevant. Kelis sets the grading curve for many of the female stars that have come after her. That in and of itself is a testament as to how relevant she is. Excellent interview!

Yea Rihanna is jacking. Kelis, Fefe Dobson and so on. If she were being original, people would not say that she was jacking. Kelis handled this maturely. Rihanna is young, just came into this world in the late 80’s to her these eighties looks are new. She is not doing anything that all of us has not done. We have all worn a look that was worn years before we did it. Rihanna’s first hairstyle when she cut it was a bob cut, I don’t see that cut on kelis, plus her bossy hair cut looked nothing like rihanna’s short cut. IF anything ri’s cut was more halle berry from back in the early 90’s. Every look rihanna put on you all say she’s swagger jacking, but never say that about others. You don’t hear rihanna saying she invented any look, she just rocks a look, and because she looks good in it, and people like it and say its hot, the haters come out to start saying she swaggered the look. It ain’t her fault that it wasn’t hot till she wore it. The point is that ri ri does any look justice, and jealous people just can’t stand to see her get credited for anything. Monica is rocking a short hair do, keyshia, mary, but no one is saying they swagger jacked kelis, but because its ri ri you all want to say that. So when Solange cut her hair into the boy cut, no one said she swagger jacked amber rose. The girl is very light in that pic. Plus look at her dad, her brothers, they are virtually the same complexion. Also her fathers mother is darn near white. So it is her natural complexion.
