Amber Rose is featured in the new comeback issue of VIBE magazine. This is her first shot. Nice. And her behind the scenes vid.
Look at Will and Jada’s daughter Willow who now has a half baldie:

She rocked it at the Nobel Peace Price concert last week.
More pics of her and Kelis dishing about her new life when you read the rest…

Are we feeling a 9 year old with this look?

And here’s a snippet of Kelis‘ new VIBE interview where she talks about her baby Knight and being anti-pop star:
Your divorce was all over the blogosphere. How did you manage to not let the negativity affect you?
I have great friends and great family that are stellar. They are so amazing. Whether I ever sell another record or not, I have real friends and real family that stuck with me. They were like however you want to roll, we’ll roll. How do you want to do this? If you want to yell, we can yell. If you want to cry, we can cry. If you want to not think about it, we’re going to not think about it. I said ‘I don’t want to think about it.’ No one brought up anything at all. No one brought up blogs or anything.
Lets talk about your inspiration–your new son Knight. Where does his name come from?
I love that name. I thought I was having a girl. I had a whole plan. I was having a girl and I had bought pink ponies and shit. I was ready to rock and roll. I was like ‘I’m so in touch with myself.’ Obviously, I wasn’t. That was such a farce. So I only had two names for a boy: Knight and Sire. At the time, it would have been that he and I had the same initials, KJ. I just wanted a powerful and regal and majestic name for him.
Do you think having your first child during all of your turmoil with Nas helped you?
He really helped me get through everything. I could not let myself wild out and flip out and be emotional and depressed and sad and angry and all these things that naturally happen when you go through something like that. I am not going to let this little guy suffer because I’m in this situation. So I was so focused. My mourning period lasted about a week and then I was like ‘OK, I’ve got to pull this back together.’
How do you feel about “celebrity” and all that comes with being a “star”?
The thing is, music people think they’re the end all be all. Artists and people who are musicians, forget that there’s a whole world of folks out there that don’t give a crap about what you do. I’ve been doing this since I was 17, professionally, and I thought I couldn’t do it anymore. I hate the business of music. I don’t enjoy it at all. I needed a life change. I don’t need to be famous. I don’t feel like I’m public property. Even when I was married to another public figure, I fell like I’m very honest, I’m very polite. There are days that I want to take pictures and then there are days, when I’m like, ‘I love you babe, I appreciate you, but I don’t want to take a picture. I’m human. I’m not obnoxious about it. But you taking a picture of me without asking me is super rude. People do that all the time. I don’t want to be a pop star. I just want to make music that I want to make, enjoy it, love it and still go to the movies.
How did being pregnant and now being a mom change your outlook on life?
When I was pregnant I got into an argument with someone. I said ‘you have to realize, nothing you’ll ever do, ever, like for the rest of your life, will mean as much as what I’m doing now. You can win the Pulitzer prize, fucking Noble Peace Prize, and it wont even be a speck in what I’m creating. Do you know what that means?’ Half of the world can do this. That’s how I felt. I really felt like do you know how awesome I am? I’m literally making life right now. That resonated for me everyday. I was reading all these books and I joke with my baby now and I laugh and I’m like you’re made of pizza and bagels and all the good stuff in the world. I was not the perfect candidate for motherhood. But I’m like I can’t believe I made this creature, but I’m so in love.
So why natural childbirth?
I thought with all this crap, if I can do this, I’m invincible. I can do anything. I did no meds at all. They tried to give me morphine, but it was too late. I looked like hell, heinous. But I got through it. It was a very I-am-woman-hear-me-roar moment. That was some painful shit. I’ll never do it again, though.
Loves her.

No I dont like the half bald 9 YEAR OLD! She’s 9 not 19! I dont care if they are Will and Jada! They know she is to damn young for that ish! 1st???
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:23 AM
Willow – she’s just a kid and her parents are allowing her to express herself. You see 4-year-old’s with mohawks. She’s adorable. The whole damn family is.
Kelis- I like her, though she was pissing me off there for a second (during the divorce).
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:25 AM
Amber is such a bad bitch, I love her.
I wouldn’t shave half of my 9 year old’s hair, especially if she had ears like that but…it’ll grow back, eventually.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:26 AM
the song must’ve been powerful. I see alot of veins from all parties. lol
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:27 AM
maybe instead of shaving the girls head they should’ve shaved the little boys head.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:28 AM
Kelis is my girl! Loves her and loves that she doesn’t give a sh*t about what people think.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:29 AM
People please step out of the box. She is 9, but its not like she is wearing provocative outfits and dressing sexy. She is only wearing a short do. I say that makes her daring and she will grow it back out, in fact she has many years to grow it back out. Dare to be different Willow!
Amber, who are you again and what do you do?
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:30 AM
I think it’s a great idea Will and Jada let her shave her head at this age…let them learn young how ridiculous this ish looks. Otherwise you’ll have a 19 year old on your hands who still wants to follow every single stupid look having not realised that they’ll just look the fool. Same with clothes…children learn best from experiencing (and being embarassed by) something themselves rather than being told what’s good for them.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:30 AM
I co-sign on everything u just said. ha!
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:31 AM
Amber looks gorgeous WITH CLOTHES ON!! She should try that look more often. It’s quite classy.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:32 AM
wat does willows age havta do with the hair she’s rockin? i love it..it suits her… it is just hair… rock it short, long, bald, locks.. do wateva it is to it… express urself…
like india arie said “i am not my hair” lol…
it’s NOT a big deal… and she can do wateva she wants wit it… its HER hair.. and will n jada obviously feel d same!:)
me likeyyyy… i luv jadens hair too… wild nd cute:)
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:34 AM
Amber actually looks cute in this picture… nice to see a woman that does NOT define her beauty through her hair!!
Willow’s haircut is kinda cute-minus the ears!!!…lol… I do think she’s too young for a cut like that, but hopefully it’s a phase and she’ll grow it back out!! Jaden DEFINITELY needs a haircut!!! That mushroom cloud is soooo not cute!! A low cut (or even braids), would look A LOT better than that mess!!
Kelis’ interview was interesting… when I gave birth to my daughter, I also did it naturally… (they said it was too late to get an epidural!) the most EXCRUCIATING pain in my life, but at least it was over pretty quickly!!…lol…
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:35 AM
they have identity issues look at jada she more cut than will
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:35 AM
I love Kelis. Period… Thats just how you have to live life man, it’s healthy!
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:35 AM
My cousin did the same thing Kelis did, went natural with #1 and didn’t even think about that shit with 2,3, and 4…lol
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:36 AM
I love Kelis, that’s a real chick right there! Loved her and Nas together though! Willow looks a damn mess with that on her head! She is too young for that mess!
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:36 AM
this is news???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? *Is this comment long enough now??
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:36 AM
I’m worried about what Willow’s hair is going to look like on a daily basis. I mean really…at 9 years old…are they going to curl it every day? We all know that kids look scruff-a-muffins at that age. What is it going to look like in a pony tail? Or on a day where it just doesn’t get combed? YIKES!!
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:37 AM
I’m not first but I’ve never come this close either.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:37 AM
lol…. so true
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:38 AM
Willow is cute and don’t act like we didn’t do it back in the day. I wanted a Salt & Pepper do and the only reason I couldn’t do it was because my dad thinks all women should have long hair…it had nothing to do with age or provocativeness because that ish ain’t the least bit sexy and we all know that.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:39 AM
I can really respect this chic even if I dont care for her music.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:40 AM
Kelis just made me feel good! Luv a real woman, no fake ish. Willow is adorable and I luv her hair! Will and jada R amazing parents ,their kids worship them I bet.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:41 AM
*sigh* That’s their child. I wouldn’t do it to mine if I had one. But as long as they are abusing het in anyway, whatever.
Kelis I like you still and I actually LOVE ‘Acapella’. I will supporty that album if it comes out. But you mad foul how you’re doing Nas. This dude doesn’t have Puffy/Jay Z cash. If you busy sucking up an uneccessary $50k a month (granted $10k is spousal support), and this man probably isn’t flipping his bread fast enough, what then? What when his pockets are dry? You foul Kelis. Mad foul.
Tue, December 15, 2009 9:45 AM
my breastmilk runs all the boys from my yard lmao
i’m not buying it more than ever she wants the attention bitch please…as for the dead rose they could of airbrushed the dead rose
Tue, December 15, 2009 10:10 AM
That hairstyle is too mature for a 9 yr old. Not saying she has to have to pigstyles, but this particular style is too grown for her.
And is her hair relaxed?? at 9 years old?? I hope not…
Tue, December 15, 2009 10:20 AM
I am not feeling Willow’s hair. At all. Will & Jada are wrong for this lol
I love Kelis’s attitude, she is keeping it real.
Tue, December 15, 2009 10:46 AM
*clears throat* HEEEEEYYY Honey
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:14 AM
this site is practically inoperable during peak hours. i understand the need to get paid. however finding publishers that pay more and removing some of the ads may improve site performance. the way the site is currently running defeats the purpose. as much as i hate them, interstitial ads would be better than this!
jada is wrong for doing that to that child’s head. not only is she too young for the style, but she doesn’t have the ears for it!
kelis is so pretentious.
amber rose makes me *yawn*
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:28 AM
I heart Ms. Kelis and always have. I couldn’t judge her about her “rants” during her divorce because I’ve never experienced a divorce, but I’m sure that it was painful and devastating and not an easy situation to endure in the public eye.
In this day and age, African-American men with status don’t feel that it’s complete without the trophy white woman. Will Smith could easily be one of them. So I will never have anything bad to say about his family. I love the Black Family and Black Love. I heart The Smiths!
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:35 AM
This hair style was not created for Rhianna, this is from the 80’s… I remember when my Mom sent me the hair dresser and I came home with this style… I hid it for 2 weeks on till she came home early one day!! She flipped out… I wouldn’t allow my 9 year old daughter to do it… IF I had one. Having said that her parents seem like free spirits.. there choice.
Kelis… keep your head up… you are doing your damn thang!!! The best job in the world!
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:47 AM
I agree… thats why Im not on as much anymore! Its becoming ridiculous and TANASHA is too damn cheap to upgrade her server! So its like deal with it or leave lol…. i do a little of both
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:53 AM
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, KELIS!!! Always dependable, I can depend on her raw realness, her real emotions, her mature outlook, I just love this woman, and I always have.
She is a crusader, and a creator! She helped put stones on the neverending path of what it means to be a black woman in rock and roll. I’m not saying she created the path, but BEST BELIEVE…she carried some stones on HER BACK for the path to continue. She graciously hands over the reigns to new artists, because she’s not threatned. I can’t wait for her next album!
YOU BETTA GO GIRL!
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:56 AM
Its her 9 year old so what business is it of ours to decide if it is age appropriate… GEEZ FALLBACK
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:58 AM
ok so I’m not ok with the Willow deal but I know this for a fact that white kids have been doing this for years…yes even at 9 years old… no that doesn’t make it ok…but there’s nothing new under the sun….
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:58 AM
I still cant believe amber rose has fans. ahahahahahahahahahaha.. that will forever give me a laugh.
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:59 AM
Thank you! If my kid wanted to, then why not? Allowing your kids to express themselves in some way is healthy to developing their identity so when they get older they aren’t just doing what the crowd is doing. If that means playing sports, doing music, some other hobby or in how they dress, it’s all good (within reason, of course). She will look back on those pics and say “mom, why did you let me do that!” just like the rest of us have done. Human!
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:17 PM
WTF!? how you have a come back when yo azz hasn’t been anywhere? lmao
i hear you kelis. i liked her past music and i like her new song too.
willow’s hair is adorable. there is nothing wrong with self expression at ANY age.
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:20 PM
Willow is gorgeous and the hair cute suits her! It’s hair it’ll grow back and if not in eight years she’ll probably do like 90 % of bvlack girls and get a weave.Stop bugging.
Love Jada,Will and their family.
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:33 PM
Black women..we are NOT our hair!!! If Miss Willow were my daughter, she would have to be at least starting high school to rock her hair like that. What do kids have to look forward to these days? Next thing you know it’s gonna be dyed some crazy color. I hope it grows back before she REALLY likes boys..cuz somebody might hurt her feelings. Oohh, and she does have her daddy’s ears.
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:38 PM
LOVE LOVE LOVE Kelis!
Willow is a cutie and I like her hair. She’s expressive just like her Mama.
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:43 PM
rihanna’s a great role model isn’t she? smh
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:47 PM
I EFFING LOVE Kelis! That’s my gurl. I love how real she is.
I was a little startled when I saw Willow’s hair…but then again in this day and age i guess she has a right to express herself….
Oh and Amber Rose. Cute pic but I still am not a huge fan of hers.
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:49 PM
LOVE the Smith Family !! but Jada you miss this call with the hair thing on your beautiful daughter!! Hopefully she doesnt wake up 2morrow wanting her hair back, because we know little girls are always changing their minds about everything !!!
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:52 PM
On Kelis…she’s fooling herself to think she MADE this baby alone. Nas had 50% to do with it! The interview appeared like he had no say in the name, the experience and everything. Ugh. After all she’s taking Nas for and she states she doesn’t want to be a pop star and just go to the movies? Seriously? Then fall back on the dough, live in an apartment, get a job and live like the rest of us. I’m a new Mom and doing alone is not something to big up AT ALL.
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:54 PM
I think Kelis is very pretentious as well she is doing her best by making an exaggerated outward show of happiness! When you have to repeat in every interview how very, very happy your are that is a sure sign of the total opposite feeling!
Tue, December 15, 2009 12:55 PM
How old are you??? You sound like a shallow minded human! Stop with the black love nonsense. I heart nonsense….Love doesn’t have a color (true love). Idiot!
Tue, December 15, 2009 1:02 PM
I EFFIN LOVE KELIS!! She keeps it real and you can always depend on her to keep it raw, raunchy, and real. She aint biting her tongue for ish! Her statement about creating the baby and being pregnant touched my heart (LOL) even though I have never been pregnant. singing Cuz I’m bossy!!!!
And Willow’s hair is cute…even for a 9 year old. If I had a child, I wouldn’t allow my child to do it but this isn’t my child. It is very obvious that Will and Jada allow their children to express themselves through their hair. Look at Jaden’s hair! Look at Willow’s and Jaden’s hair throughout the years. It has always been an expression because it has always been different. Let the girl be creative. And I can appreciate her parents for allowing her to be creative.
Tue, December 15, 2009 1:11 PM
Nas had sex with Kelis and his sperm impregnated her egg for the baby…that’s it. Kelis knows she didn’t “make” this baby alone. Comprehend what you read because Kelis is talking about having the baby in her womb and carrying it for nine months. She was talking about how WOMEN create life through the PREGNANCY process and how awesome and important it is. NAS can NEVER do that.
Tue, December 15, 2009 1:11 PM

Tue, December 15, 2009 1:15 PM
amerikkka loves the ambers and the ashley duprees. these ho’s get rewarded for doing nothing more than spreading. thats entertainment. smh. the pic is nice, tho.
i had my sides shaved in hs. willow is adorable. get it out the way when ur young, u will surely be much more conservative as an adult. luuuuvvvvvvssss the smiths!!!
blk ppl need to spend more time getting to know themselves (which we dont) b4 they spend the time needed to get to know someone else (but we dont, we just jump in the sack…) smh. break the cycle ppl
Tue, December 15, 2009 1:25 PM
Wow…Nas only provided Kelis his sperm and that’s it? That is the problem with bitter ass women you are always trying to down play the man/father role but when it comes to financially supporting the child you don’t have a problem with making sure he can do that! What process is Kelis playing to financially provide for her child if it was not for Nas!?
Tue, December 15, 2009 1:45 PM
Will and Jada are very artistic people. It’s inevitable for their kids to be as well. She looks cute!
Tue, December 15, 2009 1:52 PM
Can you READ?! I did not DOWNPLAY the man father role at all…nor did KELIS. Damn! And I’m not bitter…I dont have kids to be a bitter woman that needs financial support for a child. It seems that you are the bitter broke down “baby mama.” Kelis simply made a statement about WOMEN being able to CONSTRUCT life THROUGH THE PREGNANCY PROCESS…THAT’S IT! She (nor I) was hating on a man being a father or the father role…none of that came into play with my statement or her statement. Can Nas or any man get pregnant and carry a baby in their womb and deliver a child??? NO! That was her simple as point. Do you know how to comprehend what you read. Or did you even take the two seconds to read the posted interview? Her point was very simple…it wasnt rocket science…nor was my comment…
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:20 PM
That hair cut is not age appropriate for a 9 year old. she is a LITTLE GIRL, and should look like one with ponytails and bowrettes. What exactly do you think she is trying to express at the age of 9????!!!!!?!??!?!?!?! Why dont she throw on some red lipstick and 5 inch heels too!!!!
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:27 PM
ok soooooooooooooo, they’ll give the girl a half a baldie – and the boy is still looking like sideshow Bob from the Simpons………………. yeah ok, I blame Jada for that foolishness
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:27 PM
it annoys me that i have to type this again but….
kelis is corny. nas made her acceptable as mrs. jones and now she’s back to being corny without him. if you are strong you dont have to say it, shout it or prove it. its 2009 and having a birth free of pain relief doesnt make you any stronger or any more of the mother than the next. just as if i had milked my own cows. its called modern technology. both of my great grandmothers died during labor/delivery. thats just not necessary in the new millenium. youre not strong–youre corny.
who are you trying to convince that you are a superwoman–us? nas? or yourself?
both of will and jada’s kids heads look ridiculous to me but they are rich-hood-hippies so its to be expected.
amber rose looks beautiful as usual. :)
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:29 PM
These are your words: “Nas had sex with Kelis and his sperm impregnated her egg for the baby…that’s it.” If that does not sound like you are trying to minimize his role then you need to chose better words! I’m not bitter nor do I have children! But I do know what “that’s it” means: finished and there is nothing more involvement. Nas was more than a sperm donor!
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:39 PM
I thought I was the only one who noticed that Kelis is trying to exclude Nas from any part he played with creating their son and if it was not for Nas’ sperm Knight would have never been conceived! I notice this same tone in another interview she did. When you are bitter this is the type of game you play with the father of your child while acting so happy go lucky for the rest of the world! Knight needs his father just as much as his mother!
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:44 PM
Amber Rose is the ultimate mutt. Still don’t know what this broad is.
She says she is black, others say different
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:53 PM
Willow is a rich kid, so I expect weird shit from her. Let’s not forget her mom is an oddball herself.
Love Love Love Kelis. She’s grown alot since becoming a Mommy. She’s always been a rebel, but now she seems like she has a cause. Mashonda needs to give her a call, because being stronger and wiser is the BEST revenge.
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:55 PM
It’s hair and it will grow back *shrugs* I am just happy that she dresses like a little girl should and not like a junior hoochie. Pigtails, wow, a visit to the nearest Jr High is needed stat.
Tue, December 15, 2009 2:56 PM
I meant to say Elementary school not Jr High :)
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:08 PM
1.Amber cute pics.
2.Willow is a lil fashionista. Will and Jada are the cutest and most down to earth couple IMO.
3.Kelis who are u trying to fool.
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:11 PM
Thank you.
What is this society coming to when the talented is competing with the non-talented for magazine covers. I would have much preferred seeing Kelis on the cover of Vibe. At least she has talent and a reason to be on the cover.
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:15 PM
You are so right Mashonda does need to give Kelis a call because Nas gave Kelis ABSOLUTELY NONE OF HIS ATTENTION during her bitter twitter rants while Swizz plays cat fights with Mashonda on twitter!
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:20 PM
That kid next to Willow needs a hair-cut.
Also, anything can be expected from person who names her kid “Willow.”
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:20 PM
I totally agree that Nas is more than a sperm donor. He was her husband and he is their child’s father. I am taking absolutely nothing from him because I think he will be a great father. My words about his sperm impregnating her was referring to the fact (once again for the umpteenth time)that Kelis and all women have to carry the baby during pregnancy…men don’t. Kelis was only giving credit to women and the birthing and pregnancy process. She was celebrating how women have this beautiful gift of pergnancy and how life begins in the woman’s womb…that’s it. Now, she may have had an ulterior motive when she made that statement. She may have been trying to take shots at Nas. Who knows? I don’t know what her motives are. But, I understood her statement as her celebrating the important and wonderful role that women have and that is creating life with a PREGNANCY. Of course, no woman can do it without a man.
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:23 PM
What would Kelis magazine cover title be called: “How A Non-Singing Washed Up Has Been Becomes A Dependent Baby Momma at 30 After Having A 10 Year Flopped Career” Now all of a sudden she realizes she does not want to ba a celebrity…LMAO!!!
Tue, December 15, 2009 3:25 PM
AMEN GIRL! SHE JUMPED ALL UP IN YOUR A@@ W/O FULLY UNDERSTANDING THE POINT YOU WERE MAKING! THESE PPL GET TO FIRED UP ON HERE!
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:01 PM
My opinion of Willow’s hair style is this: I don’t think it’s age appropriate.. What’s a child to look forward to when they can do everything they see adults do…
I get the whole let a child express themselves thing but there’s ways to do that… When I was a child I looked forward to certain hairstyles, clothes etc. Kids today with the wild hair, mohawks etc it’s just too much..
I don’t like either of their kids hair b/c it’s just not age appropriate.. My 7 year old won’t be doing any of that mess..
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:06 PM
It’s not even worth posting things about Kelis she is wack and does things on the daily basis to create scandal or some type of buzz. 1st dissing Nas that didn’t work he ignored her, then she tried dissing Rihanna and Cassie but that didn’t work either cause they ignored her too. Now she is pimping baby Knight to stay relevant. This is the 1st time she has really talked about him since giving birth. She is soooo Sad !!
Willow is cute !
Amber looks Great !
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:06 PM
why are ppl on here saying Kelis is trying to exclude Nas from his role in his son’s life.. I did’t get that out of the interview.. The questions weren’t about Nas’s role and as a mother I get what she’s saying… It is empowering to give birth.. and it IS something ONLY a percentage of the woman in the world can do.. and it IS amazing to grow, nurture and birth child. During the pregnancy process; outside of being supportive; what CAN a man do? NOTHING.. He can wait.. that’s all.. A woman’s body does it all.. so what’s wrong with her comments..
Some of you read too much into shit
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:25 PM
Hater, kill yourself. Kelis not worrying about LAssie or herpes Rihalien.
The interviewer notice that Kelis made an impact on these girls look and they asked her about it. Kelis did it 1st and did it best. Its not like shes lying. Deal with it hater.
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:26 PM
Since 1999 Kelis has been saying she didnt want to be famous, just make music so you failed right there. Try again hater!
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:32 PM
LMAO
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:41 PM
Willow is a cutie…love her hair cut. It’s just hair, not like she got a long ass weave down to her but or a lace wig.
Kelis, damn natural childbirth with NO meds.. kuddos to you and all the women who do that.
Amber is hot.
Tue, December 15, 2009 4:43 PM
People really need to get a grip over Willow’s hair – IT WILL GROW BACK!! She’s 9 and having a little fun, so what. People are judging like the girl has a thong on display.
As for Kelis, she’s a fab chick. She sounds like she’s in a good place. Hope things get even better for her.

STARBABY…you nailed it on the head. Kelis was making a statement about motherhood, pregnancy, a celebration of all women. She acknowledged that she’s not perfect, but was given strength in the realization that she could carry life. She sounded amazed at the prenancy experience, like many mothers. In my opinion, she didn’t sound like she was trying to do anything other than explain her amazement. If I went through a public, messy divorce, had the whole world in my business, I would probably take the opportunity to be like “LOOK HATERS, I’M HAPPY! I’M A MOTHER, this was difficult, I took a full week to cry, but my baby made me get over it!” YEAH YA’LL MISSED ALL OF THAT SELF REFLECTION! SHE’S HUMAN, her music was ground breaking…you might not like it, but she helped bridge a gap, she helped take that Pat Benatar style to hip hop, WAY BEFORE RIHANNA. THat’s not a diss to Rih Rih, it’s just simply acknowledging that Kelis created a path. I recognize a ton of women weren’t into Kelis. She was different, her sound was the polar opposite of a Mary J. Blige. What people fail to realize…is that she had, and has a serious following of people that do like her. Look how many ride or die Kelis fans are jumping in this equation. Kelis connected with a certain type of female across the country and overseas. I grew up listening to punk rock, beatles, etc. As a black woman, I’ve always loved R&B, but I’ve always been a die hard rock and roll fan. Kelis was a breath of fresh air back in the day. The “I hate you so much right now.” The “you took my heartbeat from me.” THEN the entire album that had “young, fresh and new!” I loved her sound, her look. She’s the one that made me notice Pharrell, because he produced the majority of her early work. I still enjoy her music, loved her last album, and can’t wait for the next one. It’s ok not to be into her, but don’t downplay her career, because her music falls within a genre and community, that you’re not familiar with.
Anyways, I’m loving the fellow supportive sista’s on here. Peace and love.

Smh Willow is NOT cute and that hair is not helping. Too grown!
Tue, December 15, 2009 5:27 PM
I looove NAS,and I love kelis. I loved them as a couple. They both are musical geniuses in my eyes. They have a beautiful baby. Ppl are so judgemental about she shouldn’t do this and that during a divorce. You are not in her shoes probably never have been and you don’t know what u would do going through a divorce to someone you love and have a child with. I love the fact that she keep it real and doesn’t pretend to be perfect. This west coast chick absolutely supports miss kelis keep ya head up lady
Tue, December 15, 2009 5:36 PM
What exactly is Amber’s job description?
Tue, December 15, 2009 5:47 PM
Kelis will repeat the same thing in every interview that she is strong because she had natural birth, how some females in the industry are a duplicate of her and how she is so deliriously happy with her life. And although she was married to a celebrity(NAS)she does not care about being a celebrity and how most celebs think they are so important! News flash Kelis you do care about being a celebrity it’s just that you are so irrelevant now that you are trying to convince us otherwise!
Tue, December 15, 2009 5:51 PM
I know I am not the only person who thinks this, but why is Amber Rose on the cover of Vibe. What has she done besides date a rapper and be half naked all the time. Black people will fall for any gimmick. Since she is biracial the sambo, housen*gga blacks have this highyellow, fetish of her.
Tue, December 15, 2009 5:51 PM
But regardless of wether you think she is a celebrity she has fans that love her way before she married fine ass NAS. I am a woman that loves her music style and her choice of men btw:)
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:18 PM
Oh please!! Kelis has been around for ages and she CAN sing! I’ve still got her old music and that stuff is the ish! Having a child is expensive so you get that money Kelis! If a judge saw fit to award that much child support to her, so be it!
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:19 PM
@deedee510: I agree NAS is fine! I love her choice in men as well…LOL!
Amber ok, Willow is an adorable 9 year old and her hair is an expresion of her personality!
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:20 PM
Oh another note, I F***ING LOVE KELIS!! Realist bitch in this business!! And mashonda needs to take tips on her on how to be strong and so does Rihanna. But Rihanna always swagger-jacking anyway!
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:21 PM
“YOu took my heartbeat from me” is the BOMB! I still blast that song!
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:31 PM
Thank you Shells! Gald someone else in here can actually comprehend what they read. I was thinking, I cant believe they are really going back and forth with me over this. How could they not get Kelis’s point about celebrating pregnancy? Some people are just so uneducated that they dont even know how to comprehend basic reading.
And yes Kelis music is the ish! Some people are not used to that type of music but I love it. It’s fresh! And I still jam “Bossy” like that shit just came out!
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:35 PM
They sure do. LOL! I hate when folk get super krunk and their point is way off topic and ignorant. It’s good to know that you also understood what Kelis (and I) was saying.
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:46 PM
WAIT WHY DOES SHE NEVER MENTION HER 15 Y/O WITH ALL THIS PREGANACY TALK? SHE HAS A DAUGHTER FROM A PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP ! INTERESTING AND NO I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT HER STEP DAUGHTER THAT NAS HAS FROM CARMEN !
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:49 PM
well idk if shes 15 but she has a daughter
Tue, December 15, 2009 6:57 PM
Ummmm Kelis just turned 30 three months ago. So if she has a 15 year old daughter then that means Kelis had that child at age 15. So this makes it hard to believe your rant.
Tue, December 15, 2009 7:10 PM
POOR YOU GOING ON EVERY BLOG POSTING LIES ABOUT KELIS. GET A LIFE OR JUST END UR LIFE PLZ.
Tue, December 15, 2009 7:11 PM
Me too. I used to check everyday. Now I’m on here like once …maybe twice a week.
Tue, December 15, 2009 7:16 PM
Someone on here with a whole lot of sense! Preach on sista! People talk about kelis so much, but don’t even know anything about her. Her music, her style, her personality is 1 trillion! Kelis is just all around amazing and I dont understand why some black people don’t see her greatness. I guess because the black community are so used to seeing other black female artist dumb down and carbon copies and dont like “different”. Rihanna will never be as great as Kelis. Yes I said it! I just got done reading her GQ interview and shes just boring..airhead..high school drop-out. People shouldnt even put Kelis name in the same sentence as Rihanna cuz she can never come for Kelis in no way at all.
Tue, December 15, 2009 8:07 PM
Please I know you did not say: “the black community are so used to seeing other black female artist dumb down and carbon copies and don’t like “different”. …Kelis is/was a typical stereotype of the hood rat black girl living in the Harlem community. Kelis was a runaway promiscuous weed head who disobeyed her preacher father to run the streets of Harlem getting high all day and night! Stop trying to act like Kelis is better than other black female entertainers…she probably slept with half of the Harlem drug dealers by the age of 17! No one with eyes is fooled by Kelis’ false Euro-uppity attitude. Kelis is as hood as you can get! She lived and walked the streets of Harlem and most likely knows more about the street life than you or me! She stated plenty of times that she was so high that she does not even remember most her younger years…look it up! The fact that Rihanna is mentioned or compared to a 30 year old mother (Kelis) is ridiculous! It is not Rihanna’s fault that when Kelis was at the age of 20 she spent more time getting high than she did building her career to be as successful as Rihanna’s is at the age of 21! Who doesn’t know who Kelis is? Kelis is the typical overrated hood rat…praised by those who don’t know no better of being unique for the euro-dance sound that has been around forever just besuse she is black! There is nothing great about that!

Nothing wrong with Willow’s hair. It looks cute on her. I like that Will & Jada allow their kids to be themselves. Kelis sucks!
Tue, December 15, 2009 8:23 PM
say what?!
OnDec 15, 2009 at 9:27 am (Quote) | Reply | maybe instead of shaving the girls head they should’ve shaved the little boys head.
LOL..Exactly
Tue, December 15, 2009 8:38 PM
i respect kelis. she’s smart and strong. even with her music she’s in her own lane and thats why she will always have lovers of her music. Good luck n blessings to her
Tue, December 15, 2009 11:15 PM
^^^BOOM.
Wed, December 16, 2009 1:39 AM
Willow does not look cute..what is all this express yourself garbage she’s only 9 years old..I have no problem if my kids want some the latest outfits. But to shave half your hair cuts the cake..I love will and jada But being rich makes you lose your head just a little bit..lol
What is it with these girls and that awful hairstyle.
Wed, December 16, 2009 1:44 AM
Mine was relaxed at age 4! LOL My momma said that ish was tooo thick.
Wed, December 16, 2009 1:52 AM
I agree with most but I do not think she said she was on the cover. I almost died when I saw her in the pages of Elle Mag. Twice.
Wed, December 16, 2009 2:24 AM
Amber, besides fucking Kanye, I still don’t know what your profession is, maybe when you actually get one, it will be a little easier for me! It’s mutherfuckers out there that done did some great shit, but you are the face on a magazine??? Bitch please. That’s exactly what I mean about this fucked up ass business!!! People like to look at whores more than they do people with actual substance! Don’t know how I feel about Willow’s hair. She’s a cute girl! The cut is not bad on her! She still looks like a little girl, it doesn’t really make her look older, so I guess it’s ok to me, I don’t know, I’m still flabbergasted at that bald head hoe(Amber)being on a magazine cover!
Wed, December 16, 2009 8:15 AM
Hoe… apparently that’s all you have to be to be a celebrity and get magazine covers etc. it’s just disgusting…
Wed, December 16, 2009 8:34 AM
Kelis will always be a fave of mine-no matter if she sells any more records or not. She seems like a real woman.
Wed, December 16, 2009 9:21 AM
I actually like that ‘do on Willow. What’s difference between that and the same style on a 9yr old boy??? I think it looks better on her than Cassie. Cassie is too old for that ish. It’s not cute. The only reason why people are saying it’s too mature, is because an older person wore it first. That’s something a kid should get away with, not an adult, unless you’re in a rock band or something.
Wed, December 16, 2009 11:07 AM
Willow still looks like a child so I don’t see what the big deal is. I see little kids 5,6,7 rocking mohawks or designs in their hair. I even seen a little girl with pink highlights. That I thought was a bit much but I’m not her mother so who am I to judge. It ain’t effecting me in any way.
As for Kelis unless she is discussing her new album or the reason her and Nas broke up she is quite irrelevant at this point.
Wed, December 16, 2009 11:43 AM
ummm not liking that look for willow! shaved head and kids doesnt look cute, especially with such a pretty dress
Wed, December 16, 2009 1:42 PM
Jada and Will probably want their children to feel comfortable expressing themselves and not be enslaved to what the world thinks they should do. Both Will and Jada are very artistic so it will reflect in their childrens personalities and the way they allow them to express themselves.
Thu, December 17, 2009 1:29 AM
will’s son got all the hair i see… but Willow looks cute… the thing about his is that… it grows back
Thu, December 17, 2009 1:32 AM
and Amber is sooo pretty once that hairdo is covered
Sat, February 13, 2010 10:41 AM
She”s a child way would you let her do that to herself. They are the children, You don’t let them do every thing they want, then who is the parent?
