Our source actually tipped us off last month that “America’s Next Top Model” chick Nik Pace’s baby’s father is Braylon Edwards of the NY Jets. We held off on reporting it because Braylon’s rep denied it when we asked. After Braylon got into trouble with Lebron James’ BFF, our source confirmed it IS true…and said he’s about to get us into more trouble with Nik.
Apparently Nik and Braylon had been in a “jump off” type relationship for a few years now. We’re told Nik even named her new 3 month old baby after Braylon. And now homegirl is suing him for $70,000.

Here’s what the NY Post said today:
New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards secretly fathered a child with “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Nik Pace — who is now suing him for up to $70,000 a month in child support.
Edwards, who makes about $5 million a year, immediately filed in Atlanta to be recognized as the father — but was shocked when Pace objected and sued for child support in New York.
Pace’s lawyer, Raoul Felder, told Page Six: “Braylon had tried to get the case litigated in Georgia because they are traditionally less generous with child support payments. It’s a cold, calculated act to pay less money.
“But we had the case dismissed in Georgia and moved [it] to New York because this is where Nik lives. We served Braylon in the past week. He can run, but he can’t hide.”

I’m an attorney, that lives in NYC, but I don’t practice family law. I must say, however, that 1/3 of a non custodial parent’s income for one child seems high. I’m not sure that is correct. Additional, rent in NYC IS expensive, but there is no way in hell she needs to live in a place (considering it is her and a baby) that costs $35k a month. That’s absolutely ridiculous. Additionally, you should not be spending 50% of your income on housing (unless you make little money and live in a high cost area). If I recall correctly, mortgage guidelines say that you should not spend more than 1/3 of your income on housing. Although I know that not everyone has that luxury, someone receiving $70k per month should.

First child of the non custodial parent gets 30%, if there is a second, third, etc child, it will get 17%. The non-custodial parent can give up to 54% (total, for all children) of his or her income in child support.
Anyway, while it is nice that she only requested 1/5 of his income, they still could have done better. Like maybe by strapping up. We gotta do better!

While I completely agree that a man should support his child emotionally and financially, I don’t think women should be riding on the backs of their children into the lap of luxury.
