Tuesday night at NYC’s Standard Hotel, Alicia Keys (and her boo Swizz Beatz) hosted her Element of Freedom private album release party.
Lots of A-Keys’ celebrity friends showed up to party with her and Swizzy. Jay-Z and Beyonce were there. And we hear Beyonce was at the bar with Alicia for most of the night–and both were throwing back drink after drink. No champagne sips, we’re talking Patron shots and anything else they asked for. Can’t lie…I was kind of surprised by this. But when there’s no paparazzi flashes to be worried about, celebs will do some crazy things…

Swizzy and Alicia (in a hot Zalde dress) were very open with their lovey doveyness. But we’re told whenever a camera or a phone got anywhere near the two together, security bumrushed the holder. Hmmm. Interestingly, Alicia’s ex Kerry Brothers was there with his new girlfriend.
Solange DJ’d (yeah…seems like homegirl’s trying to find a new hobby). But we’re told she needed help all night just changing up the songs. Didn’t help she took her shoes off to dance around the party herself. Seems like The Carters are becoming Swizzy and Alicia’s “couple BFFs.”

Why black people???? What the hell does Swizz being seperated and messing with another chick have to do with him being black. I think if he wants to hang out with Alicia, its his choice. Whether he was fucking around with A before Mashonda and Swizz got seperated, who gives a fuck at this point. Besides 1 thats good and one song thats okay, I heard her WHOLE ALBUM PLAYING IN BORDERS BOOKSTORE and guess what I did.
I went to the manager to PLEASE PLAY SOMETHING ELSE I told her it made me want to leave the store because it was depressing and irratating.

I am not saying she can’t play an instrument or sing in tune, but you know how you got Jamie Foxx CD and every song on it was hottt you could bump down the road, or Maxwell’s whole album was fire, or Robin Thicke’s new album was just like “Whoa”…. I was expecting Alicia to do her thing and it’s not worth buying. It was worse than elevator music. Really.
They turned it off and started playing something else they are selling. I forgot what, smirk. Whatever it was it sounded better than that dragging on and on boring CD she put out. Really she needed to work on that CD a little bit more. A lot more.
Why did she put that out? Just for the money? What she is not an artist anymore? Guess not.
Empire State of Mind is good, too bad her album doesn’t reflect the genius of that song. The song about going to sleep with a broken heart is good, I guess that song is about what she did to Mashonda. Another I heard at the bookstore was okay. The rest was like eating Quaker Oats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Boring!!! Her fans might buy it, but she won’t get any new fans this time around. Still she is blessed to be able to put an album out off the talent she displayed in the past.
I guess she was too busy dealing with her relationship issues to work on her music. That happens sometimes. Easy to get distracted I guess.
