I love her interviews–she’s well spoken and stays true to her ethnicity. She doesn’t shun her hometown (Barbados) but instead praises it and will always BIG IT UP!!! Hands down she’s the baddest bitch of the year..with all that she has gone thru-she came out on top. There will always be hatersz & RiRi knows how to shut them up. As far as her fashion…the woman can do noooo wrong…she’s always on point. She is a performer, so she is subject to like/dislike. Not understanding the whole “who can afford” comment. That’s part of the problem with fashion — the assumption that because something is expensive, it must be beautiful, and that if it is inexpensive, it must be ugly. Famous designers make some of the most hideous creations I have ever seen in my life, and some of my students (who are hardly well-off financially) can rock a “cheap” outfit like it’s the hottest thing this (or next) season.
Rihanna is edgy and different, and people tend to either like or dislike her different looks — there’s not much in between. I like a lot of the things she wears, but I am not feeling this look. There’s too much going on (i.e., too many focal points): shoulder pad, shimmery, low-cut, high leg opening, white shoes. White shoes are typically very difficult to pull off (even in spring/summer), and I really don’t think she does it here. Her hair and face are beautiful, and as always her body is on point.
I believe she said the other day that she doesn’t “give a shit” about what people think about what she wears. I’m not buying it. While she has some catchy songs (several of which are on my playlist), her vocal ability leaves quite a bit to be desired — so her appearance is what she has going for her, from her own looks to what she wears.

I just watched that performance @ sacré soiréeher – French TV..and all I can say is OMG! Her look is so contrived.. You cant do the Diane Carrol, Joan Collins Dynasty look and be trampy about it. That does not translate well. This is a revved up Phyllis Hyman look but either you are going for that regal look or you’re going for edgy but a blend of the two does not work.
