Beyonce performed her largest concert of her career this weekend in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A crowd of over 60,000 celebrated with B and sang every word to every song–despite their first language not even being English. She thanked the audience at the end saying “Thank you for having me here. This is my biggest show, and this is one of the best audiences for who I have sung for.”

In a statement regarding Jill Scott getting sued by her label Hidden Beach, Jill’s rep says the lawsuit has “no legal merit” and “misrepresents” the singer’s long held relationship with her label home of 10 years:
“The lawsuit filed on February 3, 2010 by Hidden Beach Recordings against Jill Scott has no legal merit and misrepresents the history of Ms. Scott’s relationship with the label. Jill Scott has the legal right to terminate her recording contract with Hidden Beach Recordings under California’s 7-year rule, where she had been a recording artist for more than 10 years,” the statement reads. “During her time at Hidden Beach Recordings, she released several highly successful albums. At this time, with many creative projects in the works which include music, film and television roles and product development, Ms. Scott looks forward to continuing to further her artistry and building the Jill Scott brand in other creative environments.”

In this economy, 60,000 fans is a tremendous amount of ppl who agreed to pay for concert tickets. I don’t believe Beyonce has the best voice or is the best dancer that ever lived but she is a “Performer.” How many concerts have to ppl been to where they were dissapointed with the artist. Beyonce does what she does well as a total package and seems to give her fans all she has whether she is on television or at a concert. Eventhough I’m a huge Beyonce fan, one thing people have to realize is that 60k in other countries is NOT the same as here in the USA. Yes….60k is most def 60k, not discounting that. But even with the economy, those tickets in places like South America cost wayyyy less than it ever would to see Bey at The Garden in NYC, The Verizon Ctnr in DC or any other venue that could hold that capacity or close. Those overseas facilities don’t have half the expensive tech. that we have over here. Thus making it cost way more to operate a show in the USA thus costing ticket prices to cost hella more ontop of it being for an A/LIST artist show. However, i’m still a huge fan for Bey and she rocks it each time.

What she said is grammatically correct, since she used the past participle. It’s “sang” OR “have sung”…”have sang” would be incorrect. (And BTW, “disappoint” has ONE “s”. Does that mean YOU disappoint Houston?)
I’m not surprised that they knew the words (and what they mean), since Brazilian students learn Portuguese, English AND Spanish in school. And it doesn’t matter if ticket prices are much lower in other countries, since the cost of living is much lower than in other countries. Even if the tickets were free, that’s a lot of people. I wish she would wear a bit more, too, but sex sells. No, she’s not the top vocalist I’ve ever heard, but she IS talented. People who don’t like her don’t have to patronize her music.

Shakira bombs everywhere she goes except with you people. She had to collaborate with Bey and Wyclef to even come close to a hit. She fails in the U.K. and in other European countries. The best British singers are the soulful ones who love our music: Joss Stone, Duffy, Adele, Amy and all the rest. And while I don’t think Bey is a powerful singer compared to Whitney, Mariah, and now Fiona and Leona, she is a very good entertainer. Great Bey is performing in Brazil the country with the highest black population in the African Diaspora. They have been clamoring to get her over there for some time because R& B, Jazz is huge in Brazil and so is (Unfortunately) Rap. Two out of three ain’t bad I guess. Love the Portuguese speaking people! The President of Brazil Luiz Inacio, who is White European Portuguese, went to various African countries last year (Nigeria, Angola) to thank the Africans for contributing so much to the racial, historical and cultural identity of Brazil. I hope this trend continues.

Oh Yeah Pink is great and so is Lady Gaga! Both women had black vocal coaches all of their lives and it shows. Pink and Gaga are also considered great entertainers, though not necessarily great singers which is fine. There is a place for everybody at the table. I have always loved Pink.

I was comparing her to them in the sense that not many artist can pack an arena with 60 people. Go back and re read what I wrote(bcus im sure u were reffering to my comment) and you will see that every last person I named is in a league of their own and they were all selling out venues this large when they were at this point in their career. No on was comparing career achievments as far a awards and record breaking numbers bcus we all know that that feat would go to Mariah, Michael and the Beatles when it comes to that. The tickets here are priced just converting US dollars into Reais. The prices were between R$120 and R$700, do the math. And just so you know, the most expensive ones sold out first (closer view).
