There’s drama and chaos in the Usher camp yet again. Mr. Raymond’s mother Jonetta Patton allegedly quit as his manager in the past recent months for the second time. So his label Jive has been pushing his new Raymond vs. Raymond album back (this latest time to March 30th) because he can’t keep a stable team in place. According to the NY Daily News, it’s all because of Ursh’s new cougar girlfriend Grace Miguel.
Apparently the crooner and his mother — and former manager– Jonetta Patton are officially on the outs and severed their professional ties in late November 2009.
“She walked away from the project because Usher had his girlfriend [and former Def Jam executive] Grace Miguel was all in the mix,” says the source.
“She felt as though if she didn’t end things when she did, it would permanently affect their personal relationship,” continues the source.
Usher had apparently declared that he would manage himself, with the help of Miguel, but the label felt that “there was chaos in the camp.”
Can we say De’Ja Vu? Dude has a real need it seems for an older chick to be all up in his bed and biz. Didn’t we already discuss this on “Papers” (“I done damn near lost my mama/I been through so much drama….) Don’t do it Ursh. Reconsider!

You aint lying!!! Last weekend I watched the VH1 documentary on his career. He was in a little group and the manager said he was not lead material and mama was not having it. This is just a hot ass mess. Usher seems to have mama issues, it’s not just a preference for older women he displays it’s a straight up predilection. Maybe his mother is too controlling, she’s clearly aided his career but maybe it is time for her to step aside. Having said that, this scenario seriously smacks of deja vu. This new chick has been around for half a minute and I seriously question Usher’s judgement in wanting to include her in his business decisions.

There are two side to every story so I’ll play devil’s advocate and state that there is a possibility that mommy dearest is the issue. Just from reading these comments I see there are a lot of people who grew up with absent fathers or who are raising children with no fathers. Do you not realise that this is all sorts of wrong? A father of two decided to end his marriage because he allows outside voices to dictate what goes on in his house (spineless). Seems like moms might have a reverse Oedipus complex. She had him when she was young and it seems like she doesnt know how to let go and let him make his own decision.
