Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Tyler Perry are just a few of the folks racking up in NAACP Image Award nominations. The nods were handed out today by Keke Palmer and Nate Parker and a few other folks:

Damn that Keke is gettin’ grown. Russell Simmons will be given the prestigious Vanguard award for helping to increase understanding of racial and social issues. And Keisha Knight Pulliam, Lance Gross, and the “Raisin In The Sun” TV movie are all nominated as well. The awards ceremony goes down Feb. 12th in L.A. Congrats to everyone.

Rih Rih’s going to the Superbowl. VH1, Pepsi and the NFL have joined forces once again to bring the worlds of football and music together with “The VH1 Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Bash.” Hosted by Jerry O’Connell, the concert will kick-off the celebration of the 43rd Super Bowl with performances by Rihanna, Fall Out Boy and Lifehouse among other special guest appearances. The show will air live on VH1 Thursday, January 29 at 9 PM ET/PT.

Former NBA baller–and Miami Heat Champ–Antoine Walker is trying to catch up with Sir Charles. Antoine was arrested and charged with suspicion of drunk driving in Miami Beach, Fla. early this morning. According to the AP, The genius was driving a black Mercedes without the lights on when he was pulled over. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol and that Walker had a sleepy look on his face. He refused a breathalyzer test.

Apparently he was trying to make his way back into the league. To hell with that now. The real question here is, was there a jumpoff in the car up ahead that he thought would give him some bomb oral. And was he trying to sneak up on her with the lights off? Inquiring minds want to know….

Celebs were spotted courtside at the Knicks game last night.

Whoopi, Spike, and Taye were all getting their laid back fun on.

And what’s this?  LaToya Jackson is a diva?  No!  Chick has told the “Celebrity Big Brother 5 UK” folks that in her contract, she will not allow cameras to film her in the morning before she puts on her makeup.  And she must have the best room in the house.  I can’t even hate her for the makeup rule, it’ll be best for EVERYONE involved.

It’s back to work time for Jennifer Hudson.  After tending to her family for the past couple months after the three family members closest to her were murdered, Jenny is about to hop back into the bruhaha of the business.  She’s set to start filming the new video for her second single “‘If This Isn’t Love” next week.  Keep ya head up J!

Diddy has an answer for the recession.  He says he’s going to cut back on the extravagant jewelry he always wears…out of respect of those suffering from the nation’s recession.  I mean, it’s not the end all be all cure or anything–but it’s the thought that counts.  He said:

“It’s one thing to be stylish; it’s another to be over the top. You gotta know when to hold back and not rub it in.”

I wonder if he’ll replace showing off the diamonds with showing off Ciroc.  Who doesn’t need a drink every now and then these days?

After the court put out a $5,000 reward on DMX’s head if found, a woman turned him in late yesterday.  X skipped out on a court date–it’s become a part of his daily To Do List–and had a warrant out for his arrest.  A woman found him–holed up in/around Scott Storch’s house–in Miami.  Interesting, since Storch is wanted by the po-pos too.

The Randomness:

1.  Cartoon creator Aaron McGruder has reinvented “The Boondocks” and now has a site called Boondocks Bootleg.  Apparently hes doing this to hold fans over until Season 3 of the cartoon series is officially confirmed.  Check it.

Karma is not a game.  OJ Simpson has just been sentenced to a MINIMUM 15 year sentence for leading an armed confrontation last year in Vegas over sports memorabilia.  The charges are kidnapping and robbery.  According to CNN:

His voice shaking, Simpson had apologized in court and insisted he was merely trying to recover property that had been stolen from his family. He was convicted of leading a group of armed men into a room at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, where they planned to take sports memorabilia from dealers Bruce Fromong and Al Beardsley.

“I stand here today sorry, somewhat confused. I feel apologetic to people of state of Nevada,” Simpson began. At times, he appeared to be fighting tears as he spoke.

The judge made a point to say this case had nothing to do with the past.  But he also said OJ is both ignorant and arrogant.  Harsh words.  Good luck with this OJ.

Plaxico Burress (who gave the alias of Harris Smith when arriving to the hospital after shooting himself in the leg) was arrested on a weapons possession charge yesterday.  He turned himself in to the NY 17th precinct and as led around in cuffs.

The Dept. of Health is now investigating New York-Cornell Hospital for failing to report Plaxico’s gun shot wound after he told them he was sot at an Applebees.  The medical worker who catered to Plax has been suspended as it is the law and hospital policy to report all gun shot wounds.  I hope their payoff was worth it.

Meanwhile, Plax’s teammate Antonio Pierce (who dropped Plax off at the hospital and jetted off) ditched his meeting with the cops yesterday.  But he surely found a way to make it to a paid radio appearance.  He also ran his mouth a lot after the shooting to NFL security which is putting everyone in an awkward position.  Money doesnt equal smarts.

It was just reported that William Balfour–the estranged brother-in-law of Jennifer Hudson, was arrested for the murders of Jennifer’s mother, brother, and nephew.  It’s been over a month since the horrific murders took place in the Hudson family home, and William Balfour had previously been held as a suspect and for violating parole.  He was never charged or officially arrested before.

But tonight, Chicago police have just officially charged and arrested William Balfour in the murders of the Hudson family.  Story still breaking….

Remy Ma has made her list and is checking it twice.  Her Christmas list consists of GTFO of jail.  Her lawyers are now appealing her conviction saying the judge in the case committed errors–leading her to being found guilty of shooting her “friend” Makeda Barnes and ending up in the slammer since March of this year:

At issue specifically, were the judge’s instructions regarding the testimony of Remy’s victim, Makeda Smith-Barnes, who was shot by the rapper outside a New York City nightclub during an argument over $3000.
In closing arguments on March 24, Remy’s attorney Ivan Fisher argued that Smith-Barnes’ testimony actually supported his client’s explanation of the shooting as an accident.

However, the jury was instructed that if they believed the victim to be “truthful and accurate,” under the law, her words were enough to establish reasonable doubt.

Additionally, Fisher was barred by the court from arguing that the shooting in fact occurred during a struggle for the .45 caliber automatic handgun which, allegedly resulted in Smith-Barnes being shot in the abdomen at close range.

These two instructions, the appeal states, amounted to a “directed verdict,” which they say should be examined as more than just accidental error.

Remy is eligible for parole in 2014.  Something tells me she needs to keep on wishing…

And Usher has finally revealed the details surrounding his new baby.  His wife Tameka Raymond will be delivering their second BOY together on December 15th to be exact.  Just in time for a Christmas bundle of joy.  Ursh finally revealed the details he’s been keeping on the hush to Stevie Wonder on Stevie’s radio show this week.  He says they haven’t finalized a name, but they’re open to suggestions from the public.  Congrats to the Raymonds.

Kanye is back at it.  According to sources, he was arrested this morning in the UK for…wait for it…wait some more…attacking a paparazzo.  Shocker!  Mr. West was arrested around 1:10 am this morning after allegedly assaulting a photographer outside Tup Tup nightclub in Newcastle. Supposedly Kanye was mad he was getting caught leaving the club with four girls.

Paparazzo Terry Blackburn claims he suffered cuts to his face and bruising after ‘Ye pushed his camera into his face and yelled “Get the f***ing camera off him.”  “Him”?  Now we’re to referring ourselves in third person while giving a beat down ‘Ye?  His mental is wilder than I thought right now.

He wasn’t charged and he was released about 3 hours later.  I don’t know if I’m more mad at Kanye for these insistent shenanigans and injuring his hand because of it…or at the paparazzo who knows damn well Kanye does not play well with cameras.  Tisk Tisk.
