And so it begins.  Members of the Black Artists Association are upset with First Lady Michelle O. for not wearing any African American designers during the Inaugural festivities. Black fashion designers are a bit heated and feel like they were slighted. Here’s what the leader of the BAA had to say:

“It’s fine and good if you want to be all ‘Kumbaya’ and ‘We Are the World’ by representing all different countries. But if you are going to have Isabel Toledo do the inauguration dress, and Jason Wu do the evening gown, why not have Kevan Hall, B Michael, Stephen Burrows or any of the other black designers do something too?”

Asked if perhaps the First Lady isn’t looking at the world colorlessly, Eele said, “It’s one thing to look at the world without color but she had seven slots to wear designer clothes. Why wasn’t she wearing the clothes of a black designer? That was our moment.”

And congrats to Prez O for winning the battle to keep his Blackberry.  Secret Service and his staff are allowing him to keep the Blackberry for limited use–e-mailing his personal friends and his staff.  And word has it he fought extra hard to keep up his addiction.  He said that during the campaign his biggest addiction was checking  his BB.  Michelle has even had to slap his hand when he checked it during the girls’ soccer games.   I feel his pain.  Blackberry users unite!  Congrats!

At the Hip Hop Inaugural Ball, Ashanti was being quite “Hollywood” and “didn’t feel like posing for pictures” while in her VIP area. Not even for the sponsors of the event. And even frowned up and shooed people away. I find it odd–though–that as soon as the “other” type of Hollywood media asked for pics of her, she quickly obliged. I’m not saying Ashanti–but I’m just saying. Funny that I didn’t know who it was she was so enthralled in her couch convo with until I saw the foolywang black and white fur coat on one person and way too small “cocktail” dress on the other. It became apparent it was Momager and sister Shi Shi. SMDH. No Nelly in site either. Basically people just don’t recognize which media are really the ones keeping their names in the media…

We hear that Beyonce was upset that she couldn’t get to her hubby’s concert rehearsal Monday afternoon because all of the streets around the venue were cut off. She reportedly pitched a fit because she didn’t want to trek the 4 blocks in her stilettos in the extreme cold. the cops didn’t care who she was and weren’t budging. So her security turned around, took her and Jay-Z back tot heir hotel at the Mandarin Oriental, just for her to change into some more walk-worthy shoes. Gotta love it.

Bow Wow was in his VIP area chillin’ with is mom and 20 security guards. Yes–I said 20. And his security thought they were secret service or something since they kept trying to body people who weren’t even coming over there to see Bow Wow. Mainly because we literally couldn’t see him–until he stood on top of his table to keep the party going. After receiving an award that night for doing fabulous things for and with his fans throughout the election season, and him giving an acceptance speech saying he’s trying to change the face of hip hop, he told all fans to stay away and he “wasn’t doing pictures tonight”. Really Bow Weezy? I’m not saying, but I’m just saying…

Bill Bellamy and his wife kicked it in the audience of the HSAN Awards show. You would think he would want all the publicity he could get, but instead he turned down people saying he already gave out a pic or two on the red carpet. *blank stare* Ok Billy.
