It's ironic because since the

It's ironic because since the first time I heard this song I've always imagined the same scenario that this video depicted; the main girl is a victim of herself via her susceptibility to society's trendy pressures (lush life, beauty, parties, blah-blah...). Yet, she fails to appreciate 'Ye (who I assume provides her access to this lifestyle)- so in the end she suffers. Hence, in in his scenes he's in a sort of ecstasy with another woman (or maybe another version of the main girl- maybe who she used to be) and in hers she is alone (or with everyone else but him). So I guess that I would describe it as abstract. But I feel like I definately get the message. Basically, I loved the video, lol.

ALWAYSSWEET……please tell me why you think i’m talking to you the? There goes that insecurity that i’m talking about! Sweetheart, I am many things but insecure is not one of them. I was not only speaking for myself but for anyone else who just so happens to not like the video. I mean why would you label someone as being raggedy or being from the "hood" just because they have a difference in taste? How childish. I thought we were all free to express our opinions here. And that comment about using your brains instead of giving brain was too disrespectful and uncalled for. What the heck does that have to do with someone liking a video or not? But I am too through with this topic. I've given this video already more attention than is needed or wanted. Once again, have a blessed day.
Stop hating! The video is not horrible, its artistic. Yeah I'd rather see something a little different, but its cute. I want those clothes!!!!!!!!!!
Fancy camera work does not make it artistic. I think Kanye has failed again with this video.
Let's see: 1) Racially ambiguous chick. Check 2) Ass/boob shots. Check 3) Scenes with model chicks fawning over an unattractive rapper. Check Totally Agree! Seems like your typical hip-hop video to me.

Nothing original about the way this video was shot. It's a technique that's been done a million times.I'm mad that the black/latino woman in the first video was a crazy murderous b!tch and the rich white chick is portrayed as a victim in this video. Interesting point that I didn't notice. More stereotyping.

My
My thing is this...black women are discriminated against in hip hop since the jump. Before a light skinned black woman got all the love in videos now you have to look real hard to find a black woman in a video. Latina's and women from Brazil are the hotness to many hip hop artist and video directors. Look at Sean Combs new perfume commercial, I understand expand the brand, but these black men in hollywood are sell outs. Chanel Iman could've starred in this video, black models need a chance to shine even if it means playing a crazy role like this model did. I wouldn't be bothered if we WERE a colorblind society and a video would just be a video. But we see them on the covers of ALL the magazines, in movies, and now every hip hop magazine and videos-give black women a freakin chance to shine. They would trip, TRIP if Mary J, Keysia Cole, Rhianna, Ashanti, Janet, and Beyonce only featured Latino or white men up in their videos, and in their perfume commercials. When Kanye really sits down and when he's ready to talk about this issue, i would love to hear him make a song about black women needing to appreciate and love themselves just the way they are, but more than that, MORE THAN THAT, I hope he puts black men and the media on blast for attempting to make black women feel inferior.
Amen my sentiments EXACTLY! The video was cute minus the white girl that just made me be like boooo to Kanye. I couldn't have said it better thank you Lisa. Preach sista. Chanel Iman or Jessica White would have been PERFECT for this video to make it great. But noooo Kanye had to choose the white hoe that looks nothing special. When I look at this video I can't relate to that white chick. So this video still gets a booooooooo for that reason.
Zuley's picture

This video is a prime example

This video is a prime example why the aphorism "you can't tell a book by its cover" is spoken. Just looking at the screen shoot of the model’s ass, i suspected that this video would be like the rest of them out there. I generally do not watch any rap or r&b videos because they tend to be so degrading, so I was gonna pass on this one. I then read the comments and secretly started to agree with many on here saying the video was crap. However the comments by some saying it was really good made me want to see the video and judge for myself. This video was awesome. It totally fit the message of the song. While this life is magnificent in almost every way and most aspire to it, there are downfalls of music/fashion/rich famous and fabulous life. To have designer clothes and party all night and sleep all day way feel like to good life, here Kanye shows just one negative that could come with the lifestyle. I think he did an excellent job. I think it was appropriate that he used the model he chose. If he was honestly depicting the industry at today’s standards, then she fit. I can't say for sure, but I can only use common sense to surmise that there are more white/hispanic models living the lifestyle shown in the video, than african and african american models. While I do agree that Kanye can exhibit signs of bitchassness from time to time, He deserves his props on the video for the vision and excellent presentation.

Why can't we just let dude be "across the board" with his? We're always trying to "pigeonhole" each other because some of us are too damn insecure and we need someone else constantly give us props and pump us up. Thats why alot of black men are getting tired of black women who are too insecure and need constant attention. Let that dude create and be creative without worring about all these insecure women. Nothing looks worst than an insecure woman. Hes shown love to black women from the jump and now you're saying it's still not enought?!?
Yea, I have to agree. Before u judge the video...u have to at least try and watch and understand it. During the first half i figured it was about his ex fiance/wife. I thought it was telling the story of how his wife was cooped up in the fancy hotels all day and had nothing to do but wear the fancy clothes and attend the fancy parties since kanye was always busy. thats why they were shot in separate places. But when it got towards the end, i got confused. she was walking an alley way and ended up on the bus....maybe he is saying how his ex is back to square one, without him.....BACK ON THE BUS.
That's a different take I hadn't considered (though she was actually on a train, not a bus, at the end). Re-watching the video and reading people's interpretations makes me like it more. I think good art makes everyone see something different in the same execution. Haven't seen the first vid, but I'm cool with this one....

As far as him displaying his culture proudly, if he would of picked a black woman for the part, she would of been displaying some not so honorable qualities for a black woman to posess,(party animal/sex, drugs & money lifestyle)and would add to hoochie black woman stereotype. So, I think Kanye chose the main chick well. Anywayz, ya'll must have some low ass self-esteem to let her being white bother you...
i agree 110% btw her race shouldnt matter. either way shes beautiful and like she said, people should be happy its not a black girl in a way. if it was then people would say "oh why she gotta be an alchoholic, party animal black girl? why she couldnt be white?!" her race shouldnt matter at all.
I agree with both of you guys...
