Washingtonians were up in arms with Lauryn Hill on Sunday after she hit the stage over 3 hours late. But they're gonna be even more pissed about her reason. Find out why, along with her new interview with Fuse, when you read on...

Ending the U.S. Rock The Bells Tour in the nation’s capital, Lauryn Hill was fashionably late to say the least. She had fans waiting for 3 hours for her to perform her set in DC on Sunday. And it was all because she was getting a mani/pedi. According to the Washington Post:

Sunday's rumor was a doozy, and it was true -- she really was three hours late to the stage because she was getting a manicure-pedicure

Back at the pavilion main stage, the waiting game continued. After a staggering two hours of silence A Tribe Called Quest hit the stage.

Her toenails apparently dry, Lauryn Hill was finally next, but she probably shouldn't have bothered. The performance was a messy rush through highlights from "Miseducation," but they were hardly recognizable due to her hoarse voice, speedy delivery and clunky, overstuffed arrangements.

The feedback on her microphone was ear-splitting; special guest Nas came out for a 45-second cameo, and his microphone wasn't working for half of it. After 20 minutes she departed to an equal mix of cheers and boos, seemingly oblivious as to why anyone might be upset.

Damn L-Boogie. At least give the people a decent show if you’re going to be 3 hours late. Sigh. Oddly, she can still do no wrong in my book...

Why do everyone keep praising Lauryn Hill? Okay, so she made ONE hot album back in the day. And no I'm hating. I purchased it myself and absolutely loved it. But time has changed, and so has this woman. She is clearly deranged or missing a few screws at least. If she wants to dress hobo chic-- minus the chic, then fine, go right ahead. But lets be real here, she is not the same Lauryn we all know and loved. I'm not sure if she ever truly cared about her fans but based on this incident, I'd say not. Lauryn get it together because you do need your fans more than they need you, if you're trying to make a comeback.

Whitney may have had her issues with drugs but anyone who really followed her career knows t hat she has had vocal problems before the drugs. She's one of the heaviest touring artist having toured on over 700 dates, she stuck a hanger down her throwat while playing as a child and almost ripped her vocal chords(check the small brown spot on her neck around her throat area)- she's put on countless concerts while being sick despite her doctor ordering her not to sing. Having said that Whitney's changed voice s still better than most out there because she stillhas her money notes i.e head and her powerful chest tones. Her issue is consistency. I followed her tour and she never missed a date or was late and showed lots of love to her fans. The media chose to focus on her bad part of IWALY instead of her concerts as a whole. she's come a long way and will only get stronger. Can't wait to go to her US tour. I would pay just to hear her sing 'I love the Lord'.

Lauryn really was great back

Lauryn really was great back in the day but she has long since had a reputation for being unprofessional in terms of turning up late and putting in a bad performance when she did. I am a fan but that doesn't mean I'm blind to her shortcomings and the fact is if this 'comeback' is going to be the start of the next stage in her career she needs to get a little more serious, develop some proper respect for her fans and be professional.

Im still confused as to what went down with her being late because the lineup listed A Tribe Called Quest performing before Lauryn Hill. They setup all her bands gear and did sound checks and an hour passed before somone came out and said she wasn't performing because she was sick. After tribe performed they set all the gear up again and she came out. She sounded sick and looked like how Dionne Warwick looks today. I mean really bad. Her voice sucked too. She should stay retired. That bitch has some issues. Those sped up versions of classic fugees tracks were depressing.

If she can still do no wrong in anyone's book that's really sad. Artists should not be given a pass based on nostalgia, people paid good money in this time of cutbacks, layoffs and a recession and they often sacrifice for what they want to be an escape and just an entertaining night out. From what I've been reading about Lauryn's attitude and performance she may just want to stay gone. Better that than coming back and people end up hating you or just wondering why they thought you were so great in the first place. I agree. And there does need to be more empathy for Lauryn. Anyone can see that she's been through some things. And I know it takes a minute to get back on track. I just hope she gets some cohesiveness soon. Fans are willing to go with her through this journey but she has to get her show together. Otherwise, fans might take it as she's not ready for her comeback and re-direct their attention.
