MUSIC FAB: Soulja Boy Goes WOOD First Week Out, Spends $3 Million On Gold Chains

Though music insiders never expected one-hit wonder, Soulja Boy, to make it to three studio albums, the first week sales of his latest project may suggest the party's over.  Find out how much The DeAndre Way moved inside...

Many people are suggesting that the The DeAndre Way went womp womp its first week out.  The DeAndre Way album debuted on the Billboard Hot 200 chart at number 79 with 13,000 copies sold.  And though nobody sells units like they did in the late 90s, the 13,000 units sold by Soulja Boy his first week out is a flop by any standards.

And of course, the next single could be a blockbuster and make the album platinum, but, for now, it is what it is.  At least he has his collection of gold chains to be proud of.

In a recent interview with MTV, Soulja says he has spent about three million dollars in total on all of his jewels. Is it worth it?  DeAndre seems to think so saying,

“Nah man.  Gold is the best thing going, all the people that’s watching, honestly … all of my jewelry together … gold is where it’s at.”

I'm sure there are at least a few stock brokers who may agree.  But who knows. I wish someone would tell him to diversify his assets.  But...I guess it would be hard to rock a 4-story brownstone on-stage.  And impressing other people is the most important thing right?

Watch Soulja talk about his golden investment here:

I've never understood why

I've never understood why rappers and athletes spend their money like it's falling off trees in their backyard. Their careers could end at the blink of an eye and they wasted all of their money on material things that aren't even important in the long run. What in the hell does he need with $3 million in jewelry?? I'm seriously hoping that he has a lot of money invested somewhere. I really hate that here and now mentality buying stuff now is fine but I would much rather have a secure future.

Not a big Soulja Boy fan but

Not a big Soulja Boy fan but you can't lie that boy puts out some bangers right at the start of summer time that have you in the car or club bobbing that head!! Don't even lie!! I'm grown so I can;t really feel most of his music eventhough he is a cutie! Problem is, is that most of his fanbase is the "INTERNET GENERATION" so they will go thru hell and highwater to download his or anyone elses music for free! So when you look at it he probably sold more closely to a million copies if u add all the downloaders. Keep doing you Soulja Boy! Regardless of anything he does have a fan base with the youngins, that is big!

People should be more concious of their "words" and put themselves in someone elses shoes.

I know white people are lying when they say they aren't racist, because I definitely am and I'm black. Well, I'm African rather. I just happen to share a similar skin tone with the fuckers. It's perturbing to me when a 'mixed' or an African person can't wait to tell a 'black American' that they aren't black like us. That's fine, you are allowed to define yourself, but recognize that no amount of spouting that ideology to 'black Americans' is going to change what you don't like nor will it open an INTELLIGENT dialogue. In fact, since you hate black people so much, a better place to express that sentiment would be somewhere where people feel the same as you. Oh that's right, you're a Nigger to them, too.

This whole argument is

This whole argument is completely ridiculous. I am African and I don't HATE african americans, nor am I embarrassed to be black just like them, and it's sad that the state of the world is such that black on black hate is such an everyday occurrence. African american's are caught in a cyclical web of oppression that is really hard to get out of. Luckily, we know better and we will do better! None of this is our fault and by trying to attack each other its not helping. Give constructive criticism, provide solutions and LEARN. The guy claiming all African American's are ignorant assholes----I'm so surprised!!!! If you are that educated, try and understand the internal and external conflicts that they have to deal with. Do your research and understand what internalized oppression does to people. African's have been lucky to have the white men leave us in peace, such that even though we are experiencing aftershocks , we will be ok in the long run. Africa has a almost two or three generations (Except S.A) who have not been affected by colonialism or racism and it makes a huge difference. We might have to deal with silly stereotypes of coming from the jungle but on the whole we celebrate our culture without having it disparaged on a day to day basis. We get to be led by our own people (Even though some are fucked up) and we don't have to deal with mental barriers to success. There is no one telling you what you can't do just because you're black - and that makes all the difference. African Americans HAVE to deal with this HISTORICAL notion of never being good enough, and your no better than all the bigots who got us in to this mess in the first place if you reiterate that sentiment to them. When will they ever get the support they need to fight off these internalised oppressions if we keep disowning them? If you are as EDUCATED as you claim, you should know that nothing is EVER as simple as it seems and you would support them even though they might think your from the jungle and shady as all get out.

Sigh, even though you made

Sigh, even though you made your point nonvalid by claiming you are a racist against your own race. You do have a point. Every culture has it's ups and downs but it depends one which ones you let the world see. The same could be said about many African countries who SOLD THEIR OWN to create these "American blacks" and ASSIMILATED into their colonizers ways. What is your vice...Nigerian bribes or scams anyone? Letting white men give your babies AIDS for testing in South Africa? Adopting european law and still wearing those God awful wigs on the Ivory coast and in Eastern Africa? ...skin lightening creme perphaps...accepting euro guns and using rape as a weapon like Sudan?... I'll wait.
