TV GUIDE To TARAJI: We Never Planned On Including You!

Annie get ya gun!  TV Guide just responded to Taraji P. Henson's complaint about being excluded from the cover story and promos for her new CBS show "Person of Interest."

Peep how TV Guide basically played Taraji after the cut....

Taraji took to her Facebook page yesterday to rant about being purposely left out of TV Guide's cover shot, as she is the leading lady in her new show.  Now, TV Guide just popped back.

Debra Birnbaum, the Editor-in-Chief of TV Guide Magazine and TVGuideMagazine.com, told TooFab.com that they never intended on focusing on Taraji's storyline for their cover story.  Ever.

"I made an editorial decision to do a story about the relationship between the two male characters on 'Person of Interest' and that's who I was going to put on the cover.  That has been my decision all along, ever since I saw the pilot. We're certainly fans of Taraji Henson and her storyline on the show was never intended to be the focus of our cover story. I don't know where there was a misunderstanding about this, but it's been clear to everyone from the start. I don't make decisions on who is put and not put on the cover based on race or gender.

"This week's cover September 26 issue features the three stars of 'Charlie's Angels' -- Minka KellyAnnie Illonzeh and Rachael Taylor. We are not pursuing a cover of 'Person of Interest' at this time."

This was in response to Taraji's now erased Facebook message that read:

WOW!!!! TV Guide is NOT including me on the cover with my cast members….....I am the female lead of a 3 member cast and I’m not included on the cover!!!!!! Do you see the shit I have to deal with in this business…..I cram to understand!!!!

So TV Guide has decided to drop the "Person of Interest" cover all together--which orginally only featured Taraji's co-stars Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson.  They'll now be releasing a new cover story featuring "Charlie's Angels."  And all three of the Angel ladies will be on the cover shot.

WOMP.  Was TV Guide's response justified?  Or was it an underhanded slap to Taraji?

WANT YOUR OWN AVATAR? GET IT HERE.

It is not just TV Guide if

It is not just TV Guide if you are on Yahoo it only has the 2 guy advertising the show...so it seems like CBS needs to be the one pushing for her and they are not.

I sympathize for Taraji but

I sympathize for Taraji but even if you not getting no promo you promote yourself. There's too many resources(U-stream,Twitter,etc) that she could've use to spread word of mouth.

Taraji had every right to speak out.

The show's producers &

The show's producers & network would have been looking to sue her if she never spoke of the show or did any promotion. Yet, you call her to a photo shoot only to be axed out of her own photo op? Why would I focus on just two of the three main characters in promotional ad. This is a consecutive effort, not a sole project. Therefore, when these cast mates are promoting the show, it should be done collectively. I guess Taraji's platform was supposed to be "wendy williams" "monique" and "the breakfast club" while her cast mates flaunted on "The Today Show" "GMA" etc... Whatever chick. She didn't even need to address the situation & scrap the idea if this was always the intent. Now you've wasted time & money. She won't last long as the director.

None of the promos I've seen

None of the promos I've seen have had Taraji in it (previews, billboards, etc). The CBS website even makes it appear as if she's a supporting cast member. So, I'm not sure why she singled out TV Guide to go off on.

I see TV Guide on the

I see TV Guide on the newstands in teh supermarkt and I don't EVER remember seeing a Black person solely grace the cover. Mind you, I don't buy that junk but obviously they don't care for us, so why bother. As to Taraji, she's been in the business a while, she knows the deal. This is why celebrities/stars should never go on Twitter/facebook. Let your manager/agent deal with these issues. Dumb. Now her show might not get the publicity it needs (and not just from TV Guide). Dumb.

I'm curious to see what this

I'm curious to see what this editor looks like. Sounds like she's hating to me. Besides....who REALLY checks for TV Guide anymore?

Black people are always

Black people are always crying racism when there is none and that sometimes comes back to bite you. In this case her show will lose that cover and suffer bad publicity and the ire of her cast mates or get her killed off in an upcoming storyline.

Never ever read TV Guide in

Never ever read TV Guide in my life so nothing lost with me....they dropped all to save face...Editor is a batch and is simply trying to put Taraji in her place and cause commotion a among her co-stars...we are not stupid..

I heard a promo on the radio

I heard a promo on the radio today about the show and they were toting some woman last named Bellows as the lead and this great thing about her and that great thing about her, but no mention of Taraji. there was no mention on the men in the promo either, so the show is choosing who to flaunt and who not to as well. the editor was wrong but the show is wrong as well. they could have said " we want the whole cast for the cover" but probably didn't go that route. I think she has every right to be offended by the slight of bias right now. but not over twitter, twitter is going to get her fired and faster than you can say "this show has been cancelled". she needs to watch her words over twitter for the moment.

Now 'Person of Interest' has

Now 'Person of Interest' has lost out on the valuable promo that a new show desperately needs. I saw previews of the show and I really don't see it lasting past the first season. I just wonder why they chose to spotlight two very boring actors? Caviezel's only hit was playing Jesus years ago, all his other material has been blah and that other actor is basically a character actor. Anyway, I think it's very bad for the show that tv guide just decided to forgo the cover; it's hard for new shows to succeed.

If Taraji was a white female,

If Taraji was a white female, I bet my last dollar that she would have been on the cover with the other 2 guys. These magazines think that black folks stupid! We see you TV Guide! They just wanted to put attention on those two white guys so that Taraji's storyline could eventually get cut out all together and be replace by a white chick. I'm happy that Taraji called them out!

Not that I ever buy TV Guide

Not that I ever buy TV Guide because I've noticed their "blackout" for quite some years. I just find it funny that they've decided to scrap the idea. The nerve of that "editor" biotch and her backhanded slap toward an incredibly talented actress. It's a shame that we have to fight for pretty much everything. Even a stupid assed "guide" that always seems to get the programming wrong any damn way. Ugh!

no mincing words there,

no mincing words there, madame editor...i'm not against taraji speaking her mind, but i think she may have put her foot in her mouth and lost promo that the show (not Her) would have gotten if she had just not popped off like this is the taraji p. show. the OGs in my family say it all the time, 'get out of your own selfs way..' just sayin..we all know hollywood is racist, so why would we be surprised that they did not cast her in the promo for the show? racial call, hollywood call, whatever. sometimes, just take the damn money and shut up.

And you wonder why stars (black, white or hispanic )avoid interviews in later years with certain reporters, magazines, nightshow host, etc. It due to the treatment they may have or may not have received in the early years....O.K. Ebony,Essence,People, celebrity, mags, time to feature this new hit show on your cover..with special photos for my GIRL.......Taraji P. (the P is for persistent)

Taraji had a valid point, you

Taraji had a valid point, you would think the star of the show would included. Taraji should have waited if the show becomes a hit she might have on the cover alone. The story would have been all about her. We all know the real deal. Sometimes you have to hold your cards and wait and see.

NEW MILLENIUM RACISM. TV

NEW MILLENIUM RACISM. TV GUIDE FULLY INTENDED TO EXCLUDE TARAJI. TO MAKE IT APPEAR THAT THERE WAS NO INDISCRETION, THEY PUT A NEW SPIN ON THE STORY AND REPLACED THE COVER TO ANOTHER SHOW ALTOGETHER. GLAD THAT TARAJI SPOKE OUT ABOUT IT. IT WAS WRONG TO EXCLUDE HER FROM THE START, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT IT'S A NEW SHOW. NEW SHOW=FULL CAST OR AT MINIMUM ALL PRIMARY CHARACTERS.

Taraji was right to speak up:

Taraji was right to speak up: and it was a -ussy move for her costars to agree to be on the cover without her. TV Guide looks like assholes and if I did buy/read it. I wouldn't anymore. But luckily I don't--when you hit those racist bastards and their publications in their pockets they suddenly see the light. Team Taraji!
Godiva-Diva...Obama 2012!!!'s picture

I have to agree with those of

I have to agree with those of you who are ashamed at the people here saying Taraji should feel bad for her actions and be glad she at least got a role. If Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks or Malcolm X had kept their mouths shut we wouldn't be where we are today. If you worked hard at your craft you would want to be acknowledged as well. I applaud Taraji for saying what she said. Had she not mentioned it, I wouldn't have even known she was on the show because she's not shown in the commercials either. If the network does drop her from the show because of it, Taraji should feel no way because at this point she's not being respected anyway. Keep your head up Taraji and block out these negative, ignorant house slave mentality people!

TV Guides 'editor' knew

TV Guides 'editor' knew exactly what she was doing & that ANY response she gave would be BS, so she came up with this ' I made an editorial decision to do a story about the relationship between the two male characters' CRAP to effectively justify leaving Taraji out. It's about the relationship between the two males. GTFOH with that BS. When was the last time TV Guide left out the White Lead Actress in a brand new show in an effort to discuss the relationship between the two MALE LEADS? Never. And they never will. Oh but she really screwed Taraji twice.... because not only did she not feature her on the cover but she INSURED that Taraji's cast members would be ANGRY with her for ruining the free publicity.

Exactly! This Editor needs a "Bitch Please." What magazine focuses on the two male characters and deliberately omits the leading lady. And giving the cover to Charlie's Angels on another network really screws Taraji because I'm sure CBS execs are not happy
