Brandy Working On New Album, Says "Music Gives My Life A Purpose"

R&B songstress Brandy Norwood is readying for her next LP...no more just singing in the bathroom. Find out what Brandy has to say about this upcoming phase of her career inside....

Expect to be seeing AND hearing a lot more of R&B icon Brandy. In addition to joining the cast of BET's "THe Game" as Jason's (Coby Bell) new love interest Chardonnay, she's also appearing in Tyler Perry's new-all star film The Marriage Counselor (along with her former nemisis Kim Kardashian). But most importantly, she's in the studio recording a new album for RCA/Chameleon Records.

Working closely with Chameleon Records CEO Breyon Prescott, Brandy's teaming up with the likes of Sean Garrett, Rico Love, Bangladesh, Timbaland, Frank Ocean, Jim Jonsin, Hit Boy, Ester Dean, Danja Hands and Chris Brown.

With so many irons in the fire, Brandy recently talked about this next phase of her career saying,

“This is a dream come true. With ‘The Game,’ I’ve joined the talented cast of a smart and entertaining TV show and I get to work with the amazing [show creator] Mara Brock. And I’m working on a film with Tyler Perry, who’s a genius and someone I’ve always wanted to work with, AND I’m back in the studio working on a new album! Talk about being blessed! I’m surrounded by inspired writers and producers who believe in me as an artist and who want to bless the world with timeless music. Music gives my life a purpose and I'm thankful it lives in me."

In the meantime, check out this single that Brandy recorded earlier this year for her fam's A Family Business album, featuring her brother and father Willie Norwood Jr., called "Talk To Me."

“The Game” starts Tuesday, January 10, at 10pm ET/PT.

All I can say is that Brandy

All I can say is that Brandy is a humble artist that has achieved so much in her life. I'm not about to undermine her talent and music by comparing it with bubble gum music that we see nowadays on screens. She stays on top of my list of must have albums in my country (South Africa) and in the whole world. Her music is for the soul.

I LOVE BRANDY!!!! I am SO happy that she's coming out with another album! I have been a huge fan of B Rocka since she first started and like so many others have already stated, she is a true vocal talent and her voice is surely missed. She truly is one of the best artists of R&B of my generation. So many artists have been influenced by her including KCole and CBrown which both have stated this. There was one song she was recording in the stuido on the last season of Brandy & Ray J and just hearing her sing the song had me tearing. This is long overdue. I'm so happy for her.

You forgot to go back even further. in 1998, sistas Never Say Never album by itself sold over 14 million. Her debut album sold over 6 million. I know this happened before the accident, but dont sell her short for what she has accomplished. Artist today are trying to do what she accomplished before she was even 20. Working with Tyler Perry, one of the top ranking money makers and working on one of the top rated shows, which came back on air because of it's fan base is low. what do you do for a living? I'm sure she has made more than you will make in life time for one show on the Game. Like every other person in this world, you have your high moments and you have your low moments, and you keep fighting to get back where you want to be in life. Beyonce is not the end all to B all when it comes to signing and talent. She will have moment, just like Janet has had her moment. So, instead of being so negative, at least give the girl credit for continuing to stay in field that is rough and hard to maintain.

As a diehard b rocka fan since day one, I am so excited for this upcoming year...its going to be big for her and I think it will be a very successful album...After hearing her snippet of the first single I am sure she will be reclaiming the glory she had in past years....as long as her fans and consumers pay attention and actually go out and support good music....these are the artist that we grew up on(at least I did) we need to support Bran like we do all these newer artist (Nicki, Drake, etc) support the singles, go purchase the album!!

I completely agree. I grew up on Brandy and Monica's music, music of the 90s where there was raw talent and music had substance, where a performer would sing live and you could truly hear their voice. I absolutely LOVE this woman's voice and will be buying her album and supporting her acting career because she's just that great!
