Kanye West Goes DARK & EDGY For His Fall/Winter 2012 Collection For Paris Fashion Week

Oh what a difference a year makes. Kanye West returned to the runway tonight at Paris Fashion Week. The guru rapper/producer proved if you give him a chance, he can hold his own in fashion as well.

Kanye revealed his brand new Fall/Winter 2012 collection tonight with his celebrity and designer friends in tow. Pics inside from the show...

In a much improved (from his first attempt) collection, Kanye (above after his show with VOGUE's Anna Dello Russo) showed a polished, structured, luxe, edgy with sex appeal theme. Tall banded leather boots and sheer and cut-out booties accompanied all of his looks. And his recent work with Givenchy (many of Kanye's WTT tour clothes were made with the deisgner) clearly showed through in Kanye's second collection.

Diddy and Cassie sat together front row, of course.

Cassie kicked it with Sky Ferreira and Ricardo Ticci.

Kim Kardashian (front row with Big Sean) flew in for the show and rocked her Giussepe Zanotti for Kanye West shoes. Also in attendance: Waka Flocka (yeah, you read that right), Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Azzedine Alaia, Christopher Kane, Ron Burkle, Ricardo Tisci (designer and Creative Director for Givenchy), Guiseppe Zanotti, and Silvia Fendi.

Alicia Keys chatted up Rosario Dawson. We peep Common too.

And her hubby Swizzy and Diddy snapped some Instagram pics.

Teyana Taylor also flew out for the event.

i love kanye's passion for

i love kanye's passion for fashion. despite what the haters say(bad reviews), he still keeps going on...the sad thing is he has a huge disadvantage in that he's a hip hop celebrity...the fashion industry tends to dismiss celebrities when they start designing or introducing their own clothing lines(and most of the time, such dismissal is justified)...but in the case of kanye, i can really feel his passion. it's not just a money making gimmick for him or just another way to gain more fame...the dude has been religiously attending high fashion shows for years...he craves for the approval of the fashion world so BADLY which i think is a good sign(it just goes to show that this fashion thing is really want he loves doing)....about his clothes, they are not bad...his clothes fit the SEXY clothing genre..but not sexy in a cheap way. the clothes in his first show lacked in the FITTING department...the pants were very unrealistic( bad fitting-most women wouldn't be able to wear it)..his latest collection is more developed & not bad at all..the only gripe i have with him is that he used the fur of lamb foetuses for this collection....so not ethnical & so not NECESSARY... yes....FUR OFF DEAD LAMB FOETUSES>

The only think i like in the

The only think i like in the line is the boots. His last line had only one item picked up.. those shoes that kim is wearing, which i think look hideous.. this time im rooting for the boots. And thats about it. I think kanye west should, if he really wants to to be taken seriously as a designer, stay under the tutelage of the greats for at least a few years more. So far, he is operating at the level of a fashion student, which is fine, but they dont typically show at paris fashion week. And for good reason...

Kanye, whatever your legal arrangement, cribbing is cribbing. Ten points off for copying the smart guy sitting next to you" At the end of the day: no matter how "nice' and "much better" Kanye did this time around; it's STILL not anything original or what we haven't already seen from ANOTHER designer. No more or less. We're entering the Spring season a time where colors run free, and here he's STILL showcasing "furs and black leather"??? Why? If we're being real; who's going to be walking around in that--or should we say what 'everyday girl" is going to be walking around in that?? Nobody. It just goes to show just how "creative" Kanye's fashion sense really is. I would be more inpressed if he actually got with a team of people that doesn't feel the need to "sample" other people's work and put their own twist on it. At this point he either need to do sme real brainstorming or just switch to something else--or go back to his element and that being "rapping and venting."

I agree with what your saying, but the fashion industry is ahead of the real world by two seasons, so its common for him to be showing Fall/Winter 2012 now. Sping/Summer usally shows in October. I can't take kanye west serious as a designer but I give him credit for at least trying.

I remember when his first line came out how he kept bringing up that he did not want to be seen as a celebrity designer. That this line was going to be different. The fact of the matter last years line was a complete Balmain knock off and this years line is a total Givenchy knock off hence the dark color palette. I totally agree with you that a normal person with PRIDE and INTELLIGENCE would never show such a line with Ricardo Tisci sitting in the audience. I'm sure he was flattered and found humor because this line is such a travesty that they had to have GO CARTS to take people's attention off these TACKY clothes. It's so painful that African Americans sense of style is usually regulated to leather and FUR. Or I should say some African Americans because reading your comment it's clear that you understand what real fashion is all about. Thank GOD for REAL creatives like Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçon, Celine, Vivienne Westwood just to name a few people who really think outside of the box. When Kanye takes the time to take courses in ACTUAL design and learn how to sew then I will call him a designer. It's clear from this pedestrian collection the man does not have any vision at all. Anyone can look at another designer and rip them off and walk down the runway at the end of the show like they did something. This man is no different than Kimora Lee and all the other FAKE celeb designers that don't know how to design.

RIGHT! Like American Writer Eric Hoffer said, "We lie loudest when we lie to ourselves.” Apparently, there were a whole lots of folks wearing headphones last night at Paris Fashion Week while Kanye was "thinking out loud." Because anyone claiming him to be a designer must have a different definition of what "designing" really is. People want to SEE "blood, sweat, and tears" not HEAR "money talks" so to speak--which is exactly how Kanye was able to PULL THIS OFF! Let's just be real. Money talks and he had plenty of it to "talk" with. Again, until he comes out with something that's never been seen before, he's NOT A DESIGNER. Period. But as always you can't convince a community of people who OBVIOUSLY has an "eye" to follow and likewise "trends" that everybody has. Again, Kanye is GREAT at what he does for a living but if you're going to venture into another area, do that...not through somebody else's venture.

First off. Kanye West is not a designer. This "collection" is nothing we have not seen before. With people like Alicia Keys, Sean Combs, Common and Azealia Banks in the audience, that gives some idea of the "target customer" he has in mind for a collection that seemed desperately trying to project both an aura of coolness and easy availability. It's interesting to note that Kanye did not allow any editors to preview the clothes...he in fact kicked them all out because he said they did not understand his first "collection" and they were too critical. LOL But sorry but FUR and Leather does not a fashion collection make. When Joan Smalls closed the show, wearing an adhesive black gauze dress with a strip of alligator running up the front, it seemed as if Kanye's approach to making a dress was like a cook wrapping leftover turkey. And again there are tons of RUMORS about who really did the designing..from the involvement of college interns, an Australian magazine editor, a top stylist, an English designer and a respected design-school professor. Again not impressed at all. Typical CELEBRITY line that nobody will take seriously.

People will no longer believe anything else you say because you've been discredited. Please sate where you derived your conclusion that editors were banned.....we'll all wait....

Anonymous 11:51 am Those editors were at the show but you CLEARLY don't know how this works. So I'll explain it to you. :-) LONG before collections are shown it is customary for the Editors to get what is called an ADVANCED showing. This way the Editors can speak with the designers one on one and decide if they will show pieces in their magazines or if they will write something glowing about the collection. This happens with 99.9 % of designers. Look below for my actual source which was the NEW YORK TIMES in an Article written by Eric Wilson (who reviewed Kanye's collection for the NYT the year before). Being seated at a show is not the same thing as reviewing a collection but after they see if that way they can then review it. It's like when Tyler Perry does not allow advance screening prior to the release because he hates getting bad press and at this point he does not need it because people see his movies anyway. Yes, they may have been present but that was just to see the collection's show in real time because they were banned from the preview. Anna Wintour and many of the editors you mentioned famously panned Kanye's first show and this show is not much of an improvement. And my source is listed below where you can read how the Editors were kicked out of the PREVIEW just before the actual show. Kanye clearly could not articulate how this collection was put together because he is NOT a designer. And this show was a JOKE. He better thank GOD for the Music Industry because people with "TASTE" would never rock his tired line. Sorry. But there are a few people here they seem to like it. LOL Good luck on the price points...lol

I've been doing some research trying to find a source to substantiate your claim that he kicked out the editors. Im actually finding more information on the names of editors that were present. I haven't found not one source confirming what you stated. Would you please share your sources? I told my friend about this but she didn't believe me so I'm now trying to find the source.
