It's a great summer for Jennifer Hudson, who's embarking on a big move to New York City and celebrating a new ad campaign with New York & Company’s Soho Jeans Collection. See the pics inside....

Welcome to New York Jennifer Hudson...

Jenny is embarking on a big move from Chicago to New York City as she's set to play Shug Avery in the next big Broadway run of "The Color Purple."  The newest run of the play (it ran 910 regular performances from 2005 through early 2008) will be produced, directed and designed by John Doyle, who received a director’s Tony in 2006 for his own Broadway debut “Sweeney Todd.”

And now that Jen is set to become a NYC resident, she's signed on with New York & Company to become the face of their Soho Jeans Collection.  And we've got pics from the brand's exciting campaign.

New York and Company is trying to become a household name again, and we're surprisingly loving this last look of J-Hud's.

The pics were shot by Alexi Lubomirski in New York City and the Oscar-winner rocking a variety of 70s-inspired denim pieces, including distressed skins, a chambray top, and wide-leg jeans.  In a press release from the company, Jen said,

"What I love most about New York is the diversity. It’s a haven for individuality and I have always found that to be inspiring,” Hudson says in a statement. “That sort of energy affects me in all ways but especially when it comes to my style. New York & Company’s Soho Jeans Collection helps women the same way with a line that’s fashion forward, great fitting and comfortable for whatever your day brings.”

The latest Soho Jeans Collection ($70 and under) hits New York & Company stores and nyandcompany.com on July 22.
