In heartbreaking news, rapper Nipsey Hussle has died after being gunned down in L.A.

UPDATE: TMZ states police are looking for a suspect, with an incredibly vague description of "a black male in his 20's."  The getaway driver is reportedly female.  The shooting is believed to be gang related.

6:02 PM PT -- Our sources are clear ... this appears to be gang-related to the law enforcement officers that are working the case.

5:46 PM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ  ... the suspect cops are looking for is a black male in his 20s. We're told he approached Nipsey and co. by foot Sunday afternoon and fired multiple shots ... only to depart right after in what we're told appeared to be a nearby waiting vehicle with a separate driver, who our sources say was female.

--------------

Just minutes after news broke that 33-year-old Nipsey Hussle was shot 6 times in L.A. this afternoon, he has now been confirmed dead by multiple law enforcement sources.

NBC News reports:

Nipsey Hussle was killed in a shooting outside his clothing store in Los Angeles, multiple law enforcement sources said. Two other men were in serious condition, and a suspect remained at large.

The suspect is still at large, and reportedly fled the scene via car.  Multiple witnesses heard multiple gunshots according to reports.  Nipsey was seen fighting for his life with first responders on the scene, on various videos circulating on social media.  We will not be posting them here.

Nipsey's last Tweet, posted just hours before the shooting, read:

"Having strong enemies is a blessing."

The Grammy nominated rapper and businessman, whose real name is Ermias Ashgedom, was also a father to his young daughter, as well as his son Kross, whom he shared with long-time girlfriend Lauren London. The couple is featured in the current issue of GQ magazine.

Nipsey had spoken publicly about his involvement with the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, one of Los Angeles' largest street gangs, in interviews over the years.  He had since become an extremely popular symbol of unity, and how one can turn their life around with hard work, talent and giving back to their community. Nipsey has also been working on a documentary about herbalist Dr. Sebi.

We are extremely saddened by this news of yet another senseless tragedy that took the life of yet another promising, young black man.  Our hearts are with his children, his family and all of his loved ones.

R.I.P. Nipsey Hussle.
