Nipsey Hussle's Family Will Carry Out His Vision For the Foundation He Created Before His Death + Mural On Crenshaw Basketball Court Goes Viral

Nipsey Hussle's physical body is no longer with us, but his legacy will live on thanks to his family. Deets on the foundation he created before he was murdered inside...

Before his life was taken on March 31st, Nipsey Hussle was working behind-the-scenes on his very own foundation to give back to his beloved Crenshaw neighborhood. While his physical body is no longer here, the work he put in before his untimely death will not go in vain.

His family has reportedly stepped in to take over the foundation he was in the process of creating, which he designed to help improve the quality of life within his community. According to TMZ, the Grammy nominated rapper was working on a foundation that would start working with schools to rebuild playgrounds, help improve public parks in Crenshaw, and a few STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs for students.

In an effort to get his foundation off the ground, he had already kicked things into gear. According to L.A. City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson, the Victory Lap rapper - who owned 14 businesses in his community - donated shoes to students at 59th Street Elementary, and he paid to have basketball courts repaved.

Right now, Nipsey's family is focused on getting his foundation up and running. One of their first orders of business is coming up with a name for the foundation.

By now, you know Nipsey was very active in his community, giving felons jobs at his Marathon Clothing store and launching a co-working space/STEM center called Vector 90. He was also working to help the Destination Crenshaw project, which is a beautification project to turn a 1.3 mile stretch of Crenshaw Blvd. into an open-air art museum. Sources tell TMZ Nipsey's family intends to keep contributing to that project. Nipsey, along with Roc Nation, was also set to meet with L.A. Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff to help prevent gang violence the day after he was gunned down in front of his store.

We're glad to see his family is keeping his legacy alive because we know that's what he would have wanted.

A basketball court was revamped in his honor. The public court outside the Crete Academy charter school - called Nipsey Basketball Court - features a beautiful mural done by Gustavo Zermeno. Venice Basketball League's CEO, Nick Ansom said the court was done to pay homage to the rapper/community activist - who was a big sports fan - for all of the work he put into the community.

In the virtual world (a world Nipsey had already started intertwining into his own businesses like The Marathon Store)...

NBA Live 19 has added a Nipsey Hussle character to the game in honor of the slain rapper.

What a victory lap.
