UGH! 'Rel' Canceled By FOX After Only One Season

So lame! "Rel" has been canceled by FOX after only one season. More inside...

If you enjoyed getting your laugh on while watching "Rel" we have bad news. FOX just canceled the series, starring Lil Rel Howery, after its first season.

The network decided NOT to greenlight a second season of the comedy series from Jerrod Carmichael, Mike Scully, and 20th Century Fox TV. Jess “Hilarious” Moore, Sinbad, and Jordan L. Jones also co-starred in the series. Scully served as showrunner and executive produced alongside Carmichael.

It seems low ratings may have been the reason the network decided to give the show the boot.

According to Deadline, the first season averaged a modest 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 2.1 million viewers in Live+7. Apparently, there was smoke looming before the cancellation was official when FOX opted NOT to give a back order to the series. They also ending up slashing the original order from 13 to 12 episodes.

"Rel" was co-created by Lil Rel Howery and Kevin Barnett. The "Rel" cast and crew suffered a major blow when co-creator/executive producer Kevin Barnett died expectantly while on vacay in Mexico, a little over a week after the season finale aired. Tragic.

Lil Rel Howery hopped on Instagram to thank everyone who supported the show:

While we won't see Lil Rel on our televisions every week, he's set to star in an upcoming comedy flick titled Bad Trip, which is set to hit theaters October 2019.
