There are conflicting reports about the status of director John Singleton's life. Despite one source reporting his death, another says that may not be true.  We have the latest inside.

John Singleton has reportedly been in a coma and on life support after a stroke since April 17th, and there are conflicting reports about his current status.

Fox News stated this morning that a film critic source informed them that John Singleton has died.  Soon after, John's publicist and other sources refuted the story, saying the "Snowfall" creator & executive producer is still alive and on life support.  They called the earlier reports "inaccurate."

There was also confusion about his comatose state, as his daughter, Cleopatra Singleton, called out her grandmother (John's mother), Shelia Ward, for allegedly being manipulative and controlling with John and his estate. Cleopatra also stated he wasn't in a coma, was breathing on his own, and responsive sometimes when prompted.

CNN revealed:

Ward is seeking temporary conservatorship, claiming Singleton is in a coma after suffering what was characterized in court documents filed Thursday as "a major stroke" more than a week ago.

In documents filed on Friday and obtained by CNN, Singleton's daughter, Cleopatra Singleton, opposed Ward's request, saying her father is "not in a coma," as Ward claimed.

"Although they do not have a concrete diagnosis, my dad is progressing every day...he is only medically sedated to keep his blood pressure low and allow the vessels in his brain to heal," Cleopatra Singleton's filing states.

This could be a case of people interpreting the definition of coma differently, as well as interpreting the meaning of life support. While one is technically still alive while on life support, some believe if the person can no longer function or breathe on their own, they are no longer living.

John's close friends have been sharing stories and prayers for several days.  Baby Boy stars Taraji P. Henson and Tyrese revealed they paid him a visit over the weekend, and Tyrese is pouring out his heart on social media about how John changed his life.  The actor also told the story for the first time of how the cult classic Baby Boy came about.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with John and his loved ones.
