Queen Latifah and Will Smith are teaming up for a Romeo & Juliet-esque Hip Hop musical for Netflix. More inside...

Queen Latifah and Will Smith share similar glow up stories, going from Hip Hop heads to Hollywood. Now, the dynmaic duo is meshing two of their loves for a brand new Netflix project.

The YBF superstars have teamed up with Netflix to produce a Hip Hop musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic, "Romeo & Juliet." Of course, they're going to spin it Hip Hop style.

Shadow & Act reports:

This rendition of Romeo and Juliet will revolve around "a young waitress from Brooklyn and an aspiring musician from a wealthy family, whose unconventional romance forces them to confront their life choices."

Almost sounds like that Hip Hopera "Carmen," starring Beyonce and Mekhi Phifer.  Don't front like that wasn't your ish in the early 2000's.

The script for the Romeo & Juliet rendition will be written by Algerian-American writer Solvan "Slick" Naim. Naim has directed for shows such like Netflix's "The Get Down" and the John Singleton's FX drama, "Snowfall." Production credits will go to Queen and Shakim Compere under Flavor Unit, along with Will Smith, Caleeb Pinkett and James Lassiter for Overbrook Entertainment.

No word yet on who will star in the film. If we had our way, Normani would play the young waitress and Luke James would star as the aspiring musician. Who would you like to see lead the project? Sound off in the comments or the Yappa app below!
